Chapter 24: A Lady Of The Wild

"See, I knew it.. You are a clown, a very crazy one. All that sad expression in front of Orel and even after Father's stern warning. You still came for it anyway, aren't you afraid to die?"

My gaze became serious, I frowned my eyebrows.

"I'm not going to die."

She looked at me as she walked closer and tapped my shoulder.

"Relax, relax little brother. I'm not going to report to father and mother. However, if you die..."

"I won't die." My mouth repeated the same statement, I was not going to stray away from my words.

"Fine. You won't, I'll trust you. Let's say this will be the start of our sister-brother relationship. However, if you are successful at this, never forget you owe me for keeping your secret."

"How's it going to be a secret. Father will find out."

Her eyes widened a bit out of surprise, "You came here despite accepting the fact that he will know, which means you are sure that you won't die. Is it childly ignorance or do you know what you are doing?"

"Would you kindly move out of the way?"

"Don't bother... it's not there..."

"Huh?" The news broke my vigour.

"Don't tell me? Did you think it will be here? After all that happened earlier today, you think Master Orel will leave it here?"

"Stop taunting me! Aren't you here to help because you know where it is? And since you want something in return..."

A corner of her lips dived up.

"You're smart, I love smart younger brothers. I will help you get this armour you are so crazy about in return, I'll need your help in the dungeon."

"Need my help with?"

"I plan to keep the treasures for myself... don't look at me like that."

"Won't Father just let you keep it if you ask?" Her reasons were becoming unreasonable to me.

"No, he would of course let me have it, but no, that's not what I'm after, what I'm after is freedom. I want to go out into the world and Father will not let me. But if I buy a peerage, then he'll have no choice."

"So you want to use the treasures you find to buy a peerage and probably be on your own. For what?"

"Look at me, Gil. I'm a wild animal, I belong out there in the world of primas, not in some lady's gown doing make-up all day."

My shoulders relaxed for some reason as I chuckled. "You are even crazier than I thought." I looked up to her and smiled, "You have my support so long we get the golden armour."

"Is that what it is? A golden armour?" She asked with a really curious face.

I didn't even mean that, I just said it on a whim. "Well, it's not a bad name, we could call it the golden biometallic armour till I find a better name. So where are we going?"

"Father's room."

Eiiishh, darn it, I can't believe I trusted her for a moment.

"I was a fool to trust your words," I said to her and expressed my disappointed sigh.

"What? Since you have come to terms with father being angry, why can't you steal it from his room? You only have to worry about the entry."

"Father will wake up the moment I step into his room." It was fact, the Duke was very sensitive, that strong man, a beast tamer for that matter.

"Do you know the sleeping flower?"

"Huhhh... a flower that sleeps?" Or could she mean sleeping beauty? Maybe not.

"No, the pollen grains are known to be able to cause deep sleep when inhaled, I kinda put a little into their bedtime tea."

I covered my mouth as it widened an O.

"You drugged your father and mother's tea?" This is girl is a top-notch emo plus menace. But I actually can't believe people take tea when they are about to sleep. Is that even a thing?

"I didn't do it for you..." She said, swinging her face sideways.

"I admire your determination, you must want to get that peerage so bad. Let's spell out the fact that you didn't do it for me.*

I sighed at the thought of going back to the main hall where I was coming from, she could have just waited for me at the entrance of the main hall, why did she have to be so dramatic.

~Creak~

The door opened slowly and someone with a lamp entered.

"Who's there?!" The person yelled. Both of us immediately crouched, to prevent ourselves from being discovered.

"You go... I'll deal with him." She whispered.

"Okay, thank you" I whispered back with a thumbs up.

"What's that? is it supposed to be some sort of code communication?"

"..."

"..."

"forget it..." I said, seeing that there was no hope of explanation even for her.

~Whish~

Like a shot arrow, I lunged toward the man. He was a blacksmith but he immediately hauled the lamp in his hands towards me.

~Wham~

With a tremendous momentum of force, I lobbed my fist into the lamp, smashing it to pieces.

'Oh, he's good.' Her eyes widened as she watched me.

Upon landing in front of the man, he came to me, with an open hand, only when it got closer did I see his ugly fingers. This motherfuxkxr was gonna plug out my eyes. I drowned downwards, placing more propelling force on my toes and lunged forward, having dodged his hand. Before he took five steps in pursuit of me, I was already at the door.

"Incredible..."

I'm sure he didn't mean to say that, my speed shocked him. I went out gently why waving my hand and bidding him farewell.

He immediately sought to follow.

~Thud!!~

A landing shook the entire ground, the man turned slowly, and got in stance to attack, bending his knee a little, his right leg forwards and his left backwards. He stretched out his hands, one farther than the other and his fingers stretched out headlong...
