Chapter 9: Ep.9 Auction House Pt1
Once Mike had gotten ready he noticed a black limousine parked outside and saw the guild symbol to the Majestic Beasts Guild and got dressed and headed outside where the driver opened the back door to reveal scarlet sitting down before she moved over and said
"Good Evening Mike, are you ready?"
Mike nodded and said as he entered the limousine before they drove off towards the auction Event
"I'm ready"
While they were driving scarlet gave an occasional glance at Mike before Mike said
"You have a question for me?"
Scarlet started fumbling her fingers around as she asked
"How are you able to craft skills and spells?"
Mike chuckled and said
"A magician never reveals the secret to a magic trick"
Scarlet let out a little sigh of disappointment before she handed Mike a note and said
"As a C-Rank hunter You will be able to join our raid team for a C-Rank dungeon crawl in 3 days"
Mike looked at the note before he noticed the car had come to a stop and said as the driver opened the door for Mike and Mike extending his hand to Scarlet
"I'll let you know if I can attend, but since my other job is equally important to me I don't make any promises"
Scarlet smile and said as she took Mikes hand and entered the Auction House with Mike next to her
"I just hope you consider it"
Once Scarlet and Mike had entered the Auction house a staff member came over and said as he bowed to Scarlet
"Hello Ms. Goldren, the hostess as been expecting you in the VIP Booth if you would follow me please"
Scarlet grabbed mikes hand and started dragging him while she followed the staff member before they reach a door labeled VIP MEMBERS ONLY and heard the staff member say as he opened the door for Scarlet who kept dragging Mike behind her
"She is waiting inside for you Ms. Goldren"
Once they were inside Scarlet let go of Mike who was aching in pain from scarlets tight grip before they both heard a soft and beautiful voice say from the bar area of the VIP room
"Hello Scarlet, how wonderful of you to join this event"
Scarlet gave a small bow before she said as Mike casted self heal to fix his hand
"Hello Mother, I trust Father hasn't gotten into trouble?"
Mike saw the woman behind the bar turn around as she finished making a drink for herself to let Mike see someone who looked to be in their early twenties with gorgeous black hair with some bits of blond on the ends wearing a red sparkling dress and heard her say as she pointed out to the window behind them
"Yes he has, and he's in the middle of his punishment right now"
Both Mike and scarlet turned and looked out the vip seats to see a man in his underwear with a sign reading 'I am an Idiot' while being hung from the ceiling over the entire theatre
Mike looked at the man hanging there before he noticed the woman standing directly in front of him and heard her say to scarlet
"Who's your friend, boyfriend perhaps? Secret Lover?"
Mike and scarlet blushed before scarlet yelled as she started pushing her mother back towards the bar
"ITS NOT LIKE THAT!!"
Mike turned back to the seats and looked down and saw hundreds maybe even thousands of people sitting in seats while he noticed 5 other booths near the ceiling meaning they were VIP guests as well before Mike noticed an elderly man in a white and black robe from across the auditorium staring at him and had his hand glow before a blue transparent bridge appeared between the gap to him and Mike and saw the man wave over to him but Mike felt every inch of his body saying not to cross over the bridge from just looking at the elderly man and started walking away before he felt his entire body freeze up as if something had grabbed him before he saw Scarlets Mother give a glare towards the old man and before long Mike felt the pressure disappear like nothing happened before Scarlets mother came over and gave a small bow to Mike and say
"Hello Mr.Grant, I am Scarlets Mother but you can call me Cindy and I welcome you to the Fantasy Auction House"
Mike turned and saw that the old man had disappeared and turned back to Cindy and bowed while saying
"Thank you, do you know who that elderly man was?"
Cindy shook her head and said as she walked over to the seat and sat down with scarlet sitting next to her as she held a glass of wine
"That was my Father, he is always overlooking the family business as this building as been in my family for generations and now I'm in charge of it"
Scarlet patted the seat next to her as she said
"Hurry it's about to start and who knows, maybe you might find something you like"
Mike laughed nervously and said as he saw the hundreds of people waiting for the first thing to be auctioned out
"I don't even think I'll have to money"
Scarlet laughed and punched Mike playfully on the shoulder before she said
"Don't worry about that, if there's an item you want then I can buy it for you as a gift"
Mike was about to decline the offer when a the stage lights lit up with a single staff member walking out to the Microphone and said as two more staff pulled out a cart behind the previous staff member with a cover over it
"Hello ladies and gentlemen to the Fantasy Auction House, in a short moment we will begin the auction but first we give our thanks to Lady Goldren who is personally hosting this event"
Cindy then stood up as a spotlight shined on her while an applaud was heard from the crowd before the staff member on the stage pulled off the over to reveal a small light blue Bottle in a case of glass and said as a giant screen showed the item and its information
"Today's first item is from the Alchemist Guild with their latest recovery potion that can restore your health by 40%, starting bid is $100,000 for all 100 potions"
Mike didn't feel the need for recovery potions since he would have his spells and continued to hear people in the crowd raising the bid till it was ended at $325,000 the night continued until the staff said as he gave a slight bow towards the crowd
"Those are all the items for now, we will continue the auction with lady Goldren herself in half an hour feel free to visit our lounge and bar"
Mike looked at the stage where the staff member was before Cindy asked Mike
"Something on your mind?"
Mike left his train of thought said before he left to go to the bar area
"I just need a moment to myself excuse me"
After Mike left Cindy gave scarlet a cold glare and said
"Go find your grandfather and bring him here, I need to speak with him"
Scarlet drank the last of the wine in her glass before she left the VIP lounge in search of her grandfather
Meanwhile with Mike who had reach to bar and waited for the bartender to take his order while staring at a photo of him and his mother holding hands in a family photo with a third person in the photo with their face being scratched out before he heard the same elderly man from before say next to him
"Hello young lad"
Mike faced the photo down before he put it away and said
"What do you want old man I'm not in the mood for any games"
The elderly man waved at the bartender before he said to Mike while sliding a small pamphlet over to Mike
"Mr.Grant can I ask you to translate what you can from this as I hear you possess multiple language skills"
Mike passed the pamphlet back and said before he got a beer from the bartender
"I am not in my working hours right now so leave me alone"
The elderly man chuckled before he passed a photo of him and Mikes Uncle golfing and said
"Don't be so defensive, me and your uncle work together at the Foreign.Scripture.Institution or FSI for short and we go golfing every weekend"
Mike looked at the photo and laughed a little before he said as he went to crumble the photo up to have it dissolved into nothing as soon as he touched it
"Nice try, my uncle USED to golf till my mother ran over his leg by accident with a golf cart"
The old man scoffed and said before he took a sip from his glass and pulled out his ID to reveal he was a member of the Hunters Initiative
"Well done boy, my name is Edward Goldren and I have a proposal for you"
Mike scoffed and said before he heard an announcement saying the Auction will resume in 5 mins
"You and your family don't seem to know when a man wants some alone time"
Once Mike had left scarlet came around the corner and said after slapping her grandfather on the head
"Told you this would happen, you and Violet are the same"
Edward rubbed his head before he saw Cindy approaching him and said
"Hello granddaughter, least I met the boy that you seem to be interested in"
Scarlet huffed and said before she returned to the VIP room
"I don't like him! It's strictly business"
Cindy sat next to her father and asked him as he kept watching Scarlet walk away from them
"Father what did you want with the boy?"
Edward put the pamphlet away and only replied saying before he walked back to his booth for the Auction
"We found a Elvin Relic that we have had no luck with translating and I thought that the boy could try to do it"
Cindy looked back and said before she walked away to go towards the Auctioning stage
"So that boy is the one who made the amazing scholars of the hunter's initiative look like second rate chumps interesting"
