Chapter 2: Joan: Nightmare
Age: 20 years
I open my eyes and found myself standing in the middle of a strange room. Since it was dark, I couldn't make out where I was. I walk around, aimlessly while trying assimilate what situation I was in. The dreich room carried a sepulchral undertone enough to make anyone agitated. A true paradox. Both dreadful and mesmerizing. Upsetting charcoal paintings of human figures, death and black birds obliterated by cobwebs hung on one side of the shabby wall and on the other was filled with " save me" written over and over. Glittering shards of glass adorned the cold marbled floor and a broken moth eaten chair lay in the far end corner.
Suddenly I felt a breath of warm air near the nape of my neck. I shiver in horror. Then out of nowhere the steady walls began to shake vigorously crumbling down as though it was struck by a thunderbolt. I turn around to face a shadow emitting blue smoke. I stare at it in fear. Out of the blue smoke emerged black birds, firey red rose petals and flickering light bearing dragonflies. They began to fly around trying to engulf me.
I shout, "No..stop".
I see her in the middle of the room, her eyes brimming with tears. I reach our for her hands but I can't get hold of them. I see black devilish chains around my wrists. The shadows were pulling them from behind. I try to break them but it seems like a Herculean task. They looked as though they were cast from hell.
I see Liza. She's covered in the same chains hung from the sky. They pointed chains were sinking into her skin, wounding her. She was in pain, almost resembling a bird whose wings were shot down by a hunter.
Defeated and washed out.
"Liza..." I cry. She doesn't answer me.
I stood there helpless.
Suddenly the floor turned crimson red like that of the colour of blood. A golden ray of light illuminated the red walls, blinding my eyes.
"Save me..." She whispered, her mouth oozing with blood.
"Liz.. " I shout at the top of my lungs. My voice echoed the whole room causing the chains to break. I see the floor crack. I hear loud screams.
I run towards her yelling her name.
I run and I run.....
I see the chains around her wrists break one by one. Finally the last one breaks and she falls. Just in that very moment I catch her and she falls into my arms. She looks at me and smiles.
" Jo, I'm sorry..." She says , her voice weakened. Her face pale and lifeless. Her skin cold , covered in blood.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
A ray of light hits me. I open my eyes and found myself in my room. I'm gasping for air.
It was all just a dream...
