Chapter 64: Taking the First Step and an End to Hiding (2/2)

"What? No." Rowan turned his head to discover Nicasi warming the sweet smelling substance between his palms as he waited for him to comply.

"I said please, didn't I? You have injuries on your shoulders as well as your arms. I simply want to apply this salve. I have an oil as well." The healer's voice was steady and calm, as it always was when he was explaining what he planned on doing to help. "Besides, you said your muscles ache. This will relax you, and I will feel much better about letting you leave unattended."

"My thighs ache, too. Are you planning on applying your salve everywhere?" Rowan snapped and scooted out of reach when Nicasi moved a hand in his direction.

"Would you like me to put an end to this?" A hint of murder laced Wren's words, but he hadn't actually tried to kill anyone yet. Rowan appreciated the effort.
