"Geopolitics and National Interest…?" Korede muttered.

"Indeed." Bolaji nodded. "Geopolitics determines a country's political relationship in a region while National Interest is simply a country's self-benefit. Depending on who you ask, Geopolitics and National Interests are the same thing.

"More liberal policy actors might differentiate between the two. In their eyes, a country's relationship with a region doesn't have to be to the nation's direct personal interest. It could just be for the 'greater good'.

"In the eyes of more paranoid actors, the two are the same thing. They can't see the possibility of a country interacting with a region if there isn't something to gain; be it economic or simply political.

"I happen to fall into the latter school of thought."
