A palpable tension gripped the air, a silent battle of emotions as Ariana's fate hung in the balance.

Joseph's eyes darted between his two daughters, torn between loyalty and doubt. "I...I suppose we can give her a chance," he remarked, "We can't turn her away, not in her state," his voice gaining resolve.

Mia's voice pierced through the air like a bitter wind. "I can't let that happen!" Her voice was filled with venom. "Not after what she did. Not after she killed Liam."

Ariana's heart dropped. She never thought Mia would blame her for Liam's death. She looked into her sister's eyes, searching for understanding, but all she found was anger and betrayal. "I didn't kill him, Mia," she pleaded, her voice trembling. "You have to believe me."

Mia scoffed, crossing her arms defiantly. "Believe you? Why should I? Liam's death was just another way for you to get your way."
