Chapter 486: 71.7 Machine Power

The locomotive shook as something rather alarming probably happened beneath our feet. I didn't know what that was, but any kind of thing that sounded remotely related to the locomotive just screamed danger to me.

"W-we're going too fast!"

I flinched. Ruby finally got her voice back, and I heard her loud and clear!

*CRANK!*

*SCREECH!*

Throwing the lever back, sparks flew from the sides of the locomotive as the wheels ground against the metal railway. The sudden deceleration almost threatened to throw us all forward into the engine as I held on for dear life. I didn't manage to look at my fellow passengers, but I was sure that they were holding onto the railings so long as I don't see them in front of me.

"What's happening?!" I heard Ruby scream from behind me.

"I'm trying to make us stop!" I screamed back, my arm still tense as I held on to the brake lever. "Just hold on!"
