Her footsteps were the only thing that created sound in this empty place, her companions on the journey were these chains of unknown origin and destination.
Valery's footsteps stopped as she looked at the structure in front of her eyes, observing the structure closely.
It was a circular pyramid, the whole structure looked like a staircase with thin steps between each one and a long depth between each step. The structure was made of perfect and decorated white bricks resembling bones, the design of the bricks had no special meaning for Valery but she still paid attention to them.
Tired, exhausted from her journey, Valery only wished that this was her final destination.
So as she climbed the stairs she tried to get a closer look at the design of the bricks, perhaps to understand a little of the place.
The bricks had images as if they told a story.
A man and a woman.
The woman chasing a snake.
The finding of an apple.
The return of that woman in search of that man, but the man is now with another woman.
The exile of that woman, by the man and the other woman.
Valery shook her head, finding no meaning in the pattern of imanges. Which were repeated several times on the way to the top. Valery tried to relate it to what she knew about history, but she couldn't figure out what it was about.
'If Marta were here she would know, but you have abandoned me and your friends."
Valery might be annoyed with Stelle, for everything that happened from the first day until today, but that annoyance was as small as a child's fight over a toy. But the annoyance with Marin has grown day by day.
She turned away from her and the others, giving them the cold shoulder when they wanted to talk. Standing by Harry's side, she offered no help or support. She abandoned them the first chance she got, without looking back or remorse.
Stelle was a little different, but in time Valery understood her more than she thought she would. Stelle despised those who were lower in rank and that contempt extended to Valery, Katerin and Marta as well. But there is an important point to cover which is what is known as an exception, Valery, Katerin and Marta are the exception to this contempt, but it does not mean that this contempt does not exist.
Stelle, loves Valery and Katerin very much. You can see it in her eyes, you can see the concern and affection she has for them. But even with all that affection behind her eyes, there is that desperation in her eyes.
Valery stopped her steps, her eyes met her destiny.
The meeting point of these chains.
Beautiful, there is no word that can describe what Valery was seeing. The very word was insufficient to describe the woman who was chained in the center of this pyramid. The top of the pyramid looked more like an ancient altar for sacrifices to gods.
Silver hair, it was like watching a river of mercury flowing through the ground, so long that it reached Valery's feet, who was 10 meters away from her. Her body was naked, her skin was pale white, like milk, so white that in the almost inextant light of the place it seemed to glow.
Her light was as beautiful as a star, an almost divine light that created hope where there was none. A beacon of light in the darkness of the world.
The chains ran through her body, from her arms, her legs and her torso, and they also bound her neck, wrists and ankles. The woman's body was healed, it almost seemed that the chains belonged to her but Valery knew that it was not so, she had been wearing those chains for so long that they had become part of her.
Her face was looking at the ground, her eyes could not be seen.
Valery was afraid of her gaze. Even if he didn't look at her in a certain way he knew that she was aware that she was here, but her reaction was so stunned by the chains surrounding her body.
With a quick movement, the woman looked at Valery, her silver eyes and blood red lips.
Valery took two steps back, almost falling down the stairs.
Slowly she stepped back, the silver eyes of the chained woman. Her gaze looked at Valery, she looked at her deeply, there was nothing that escaped her sight.
"Hahaha how envious" Her voice beautiful but hurtful to Valery.
"How I hate you" In her voice there was no familiarity, it was not a hatred of a past grudge. The moment he looked at her, he felt a deep hatred for Valery.
A hatred so deep that Valery felt the weight of her words.
"I don't care" Valery replied, even though she came here to find out what was going on with these chains. To run into someone who more than a friend or a future ally, she ran into a dangerous enemy and needless to say, a dangerous one.
Those chains are answer enough to know that she is dangerous. Valery could not carry even one of the chains, and this woman is carrying several.
"Moon" whispered Valery theorizing the woman's identity, believing that this woman was the Moon Goddess terrified him.
"So they call me" her voice sounded more tired, as if the chains were draining him of his remaining strength.
Valery did not respond even though the weight of her words was so great that Valery wanted to die right now. The moon goddess is a nemesis that she cannot face, nor can it be avoided. The moon goddess watches everything in the world and her mist covers everything.
"Silly name..."
"No one remembers me anymore."
"My name has been replaced by a title of no value to me."
The Goddess was totally exhausted, and her little conscience left her wandering.
