Siri and Zack walked out of the police station after giving their statement. Siri was grateful to have had someone with her during the hours waiting for the detective in charge to arrive after they had accompanied the ambulance to the hospital.
A patrol car drove out of the building as they both walked down the steps towards the entrance. Zack sighted a couple of reporters camped outside and held her back stretching his hand in front of her like a blockade.
"We can't go through the front."
"Why?"
"Those reporters will want a statement. I can't appear on the news."
"But I- well, we didn't do anything wrong."
Zack had been whispering unnecessarily and she found herself whispering along.
"Did you hear the detective? He asked questions as if you killed the girl. He sounded suspicious. If I wasn't your Alibi you'd be in a lot of trouble."
He didn't sound so suspicious. And even if he did. It doesn't matter the truth will come out.
