Chapter 97: CHAPTER FOURTY FOUR

Rayne's pov

"I'd rather die than to have your filthy body on me. Ever" I responded haughtily and immediately, Gilbert's eyes darkened in anger as he took a few menacing steps toward me.

"Did you just call me filthy?" Gilbert's voice rang through the packhouse, and immediately I started to regret my brave stance of a few minutes ago. I understood that tone so much. That was the tone he uses whenever he wants to punish me.

"I'm sorr…'' my words were still in my throat when I felt a hard slap hit my face until it stabbed my flesh. And another heavy blow smashed and pain exploded like a bomb of fire all through my brain. I could have sworn, my skin peeled off.

I staggered backward as my vision became blurry with unshed tears. I looked at my executioner, and it was Lucas. Of course, Lucas would never hit me so tenderly. Normally, Gilbert's breath alone sent me flying seven buildings, not to mention his slaps, kicks, and punches….fucking monster!
