Chapter 1: First Encounter
"Are you all in the car?" Daddy asked and with great excitement we all shouted a big Yes. At long last our most anticipated summer vacation was here.
That morning, I set out with my family to New York. We had a family of five, my mom, dad, my twin younger siblings and me. We got to our destination about fifteen minutes past six in the evening. It was a very long journey and so we were all worn out. My dad booked three rooms at Ocean hotel, one for me, the other for my siblings and the last one for him and mom.
Originally am from Florida, a beautiful city in the United States of America. My father dealt in the shipping industry and my mom was a deputy director at the national pharmaceutical company. I had two little siblings who were twins and also a boy and a girl. The boy is the eldest and was called Samuel while the younger female twin was called Samuella. The two of them even though fifteen, always fight each other because of little things.
My mom would often scold them for being childish and always fighting with each other. After that I will take my spot as the elder sister and comfort the two of them by giving them goodies and telling them their right and wrongs after hearing the version of what happened from each of them. Afterwards my mom will complain about how I spoil my younger siblings.
Later when my dad comes back and hears of what happens, he would go out and bring back our favorite snacks and ice cream. This usually pissed my mom off but he always found a way to calm her down and pretend to always scold us when she goes upstairs.
In school, I had good grades but didn't have any close friends but I never cared about such things. In fact I found it was because I always topped my class while the richest girl as they thought was always second. I never revealed my family background in school and was mostly quiet in school and of course I never allowed anyone to bully me in school.
While the other girl focused on impressing the other students by flaunting her wealth and pretending to be kind in front of the students, I kept my focus on my studies. I always kept to myself and played a little in class. In the house I had my younger siblings and parents company and so I rarely felt alone as they were the most important people in my life.
During my birthdays, my mom would always ask me to invite my friends home but year after year, I always told her I didn't have any friends at school. I knew she was worried and so I told her how the other students were in school and always assured her that I usually played around with others till I got eighteen.
I was just eighteen and was eager to know more about the world. I am a slim girl with a pretty good figure. I had a beautiful mole just below my left eye with long black hair. In all, one could say I had a very beautiful face. I was even often mistaken for a celebrity because of my features.
The next day since the hotel was close to the beach , we went there right after having breakfast and only came back after we felt extremely hungry. Soon after having lunch, I went to take a stroll in the hotel garden. There I saw a colorful flower garden and so I approached it. A colorful but beautiful butterflies flew on top of the beautifully planted flowers.
I was so engrossed with the view that I didn't hear the constantly repeated "Hi". I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around to see who it was.
"Hi," he said with a huge smile on his face . I also replied with a shy Hi. He was a bit taller than me . He had dark brown eyes with curly hair which made him look so gentle and was also smartly dressed. "I am Ben " he said and I also replied saying I was Nicky .
He smiled and said it was nice meeting me and just as I was about to speak, a guy who was skating bumped into me. At first I thought he was going to say sorry but to our surprise he turned and asked if I didn't see him coming.
"Didn't you also see me standing there?" I asked almost immediately, feeling irritated by his rudeness. The rude guy stood there with a surprised expression as if he wasn't in the wrong before turning to leave in the direction he came from.
Ben told me to forget about it and we talked a little more before deciding to part ways. He also invited me to a party that night as we exchanged contact. I had wanted to reject the offer but he insisted saying it was a mask party. Since I haven't been to one before I thought why not.
I told my parents about it and my dad agreed. I was filled with delight and so I changed from this dress to that and at last I got this dress which would be perfect for the party. The dress was a knee length floral dress which exudes youthfulness. I also let my hair fall on my shoulders and started to put on light makeup.
After wasting much time, I finally dressed up and left for the party. I bid goodbye to my parents and watched my younger siblings eyed me with jealousy as I left for the party. As I was about to enter the hall in which the party was going on, I saw the rude guy from the afternoon entering the venue. Our eyes met and I looked at him with irritation apparent in my eyes while he just behaved nonchalantly and went inside.
