Chapter 33: Her lucky charm

May stood in front of the Pearl Palace for a long while, her phone in her hands but not yet calling. She could write a message; better. It was long past dinner time, so she would probably just greet him and leave.

As she pondered about her choices, wearing a cobalt blue simple dress her roommate helped her choose - not without amused chuckles and comments about May's surprising cuteness - the gate opened with a click.

May blinked, checking whether someone was going in or out. But there was no one. Was the gate opening for her? Oh, so she had been discovered.

She put her phone away, using all her might to return her expression to neutral while marching towards the last villa in the Pearl Palace. She rang the bell, but it took the butler a minute or so to reach the door and open it.

Who had seen her if not the butler or Chris? Had the latter forgotten to warn his personnel?
