Chapter 13: Presence

The jaws bit down harder. My mouth opened to release a sound.

A roar of pain was released. My vision grew dark. Losing my sight was not bad but it became terrible. So terrible, that every other sense was amplified to the point I could not even blot them out.

My mind which had been stable up to this point became unstable.

(Warning! Warning. Excess blood loss. Warning, critical injury. Warning!) The background warning from the system echoed but I was thinking too much about my survival and the thought of myself dying. I really don't want to die.

'Sister? Elder sister?' I wailed in my mind.

'ELDER SISTER!!!!' the sound trailed off into a Shark-kin roar echoing into the ocean. I did not pick this fight so when I am on the losing end I should call for backup. There is nothing called scruples when it comes to life.

'I never thought you would use that form so soon.' I froze, jaws still half-opened, a Shark-kin stuck in my throat. I felt as though my entire form was covered in ice with fear snaking through me to the point my mind stopped moving.

This presence…

~

Zephyra had not expected to see this younger sister in such a weak state. One must know the last time they had seen each other was back on the Gaia World in the watery depths before she had slipped from their home to walk on land breathing in air. Zephyra had despaired upon seeing the youngest among the pod leaving her who had been unable to shift alone.

In her eyes, this pod-sibling had always been small and in need of protection. She had felt distressed at her little sister being bullied but there was nothing she could do back then. Now, Zephyra can appear and see her once again even if her presence would cause this world to feel pressure she would not allow her pod-sibling to die.

Appearing from below in her Shark-kin form, Zephyra yawned her jaws wide, spawning the mutated Orca. From the grey tone, it is probably a result of an Eelen and an Orca mating. Snapping her jaws shut, Zephyra swallowed the half of the mutated Orca. Swimming closer to the five sizes smaller form of her sibling Zephyra rumbled in her throat. Leaning closer to nudge the pitifully small Shark-kin. Releasing a puff of air Zephyra healed her sibling and passed on a portion of her power before turning and returning to her world lest her presence causes an unwanted anomaly.

~

Still in the water, eyes closed. I felt the power rapidly travel through my form. My body healed at a rapid pace, I finally could see again but all I saw was an outline I had a hint of memory of. There is no doubt it was one of my elder sisters but which one who was shaped like a gigantic shark I could not for the moment remember.

(Host. When you called your simply and she arrived. It caused the world to feel an enormous pressure.)

'Then was there a backlash of some sorts?'

(Host I have to scan for that but I am sure that the results would not be good. For now, there is no more nearby danger.)

'That at least is a relief. But ah, how can I change from this form?'

(host you need to first avoid the gazes of the Celestials least they smite or take you away.)

I suddenly felt aggrieved. This world is so much nonsense! From my arrival til now, I feel as though I am constantly trying to survive. Like, my break is always so pitifully short. Damn it!

I just want to chill for a week without thinking 'I don't wanna die.' Is that too much?

No right? Right?!

While I complained in my mind as I continued to swim in the dark depths aimlessly. I suddenly felt strange. Trying not to be too dramatic and panic like a headless chicken I thought of something delicious and my mouth-wateringly gorgeous pre-mated mates. With that as a distraction, I did not panic at all when my body suddenly began to collapse in on itself. Nope, I was Zen. So Zen I could be a Buddhist--no, that was me being utterly naive. The teeth in my mouth fell out becoming one with the water. I tried my hardest not to roar as my body twisted becoming smaller and smaller.

Oh dear gods, angels and creatures worthy enough to save me. I am about to drown. I have become something tiny. I am about to drown. Something will see me as food and eat me. I oh, I can't believe after surviving before, I am about to die.

This is so unfair though!

(Host, you are in a smaller form. Your ability to breathe underwater is still there.) The system suddenly sounded in my head. Understanding its words I became aware that I can still breathe. Excited, I looked around swimming here and there. It felt that I no longer had flippers!
