Chapter 307: You got work

The next morning, I woke up to the soft, steady rhythm of Elena's breathing beside me. Her head was nestled against my shoulder, her hand resting lightly on my chest, and for a moment, I stayed still, soaking in the warmth of her body pressed against mine.

I didn't want to move, didn't want to disturb the peace of the moment, but I knew I had to. Elena needed a good rest after everything we'd been through, and I wanted to do something special for her.

Carefully, I slid out from under her, moving slowly so as not to wake her. She stirred slightly but settled back into the pillow, her breathing even again.

I smiled, watching her for a second longer before getting up, slipping on some clothes, and heading to the kitchen.
