Chapter 14: I want him gone

The rest of the day blurred together in a monotonous series of meetings. Each one felt more tedious than the last, and I found myself struggling to maintain my usual cold, composed demeanor. My mind kept drifting back to the photoshoot and to Elena. I couldn't shake the strange, unsettling feelings that had taken root in me since our paths had crossed.

By the time the final meeting ended, it was already late. I left my office, feeling the weight of exhaustion pressing down on me. Slipping into the driver's seat of my Lamborghini, I started the engine, the roar of the car momentarily drowning out the thoughts swirling in my mind.

I drove aimlessly through the city, the streets bathed in the soft glow of streetlights. It was a futile attempt to clear my head, but as I turned a corner, I spotted a familiar figure near the entrance of a club. Elena. My heart skipped a beat as I realized she was being harassed by a man.

Anger surged through me, sharp and uncontrollable. The car screeched to a halt, and I stepped out, my eyes blazing with fury. Without a moment's hesitation, I strode over and delivered a powerful kick to the man's midsection. He flew back several meters, crashing against the wall. The urge to kill him right there and then was overwhelming, but I forced myself to check on Elena first.

Turning to her, I felt an unfamiliar softness in my expression. "Are you okay?" I asked, my voice unrecognizable to my own ears. It lacked the cold edge I usually carried.

Elena nodded, though she was still visibly shaken. "I think so. Thank you."

I gave her a reassuring smile, a strange warmth spreading through me. "Good. Let's get you somewhere safe."

I led her to my car, opening the door for her with a protective air. As she settled into the passenger seat, I couldn't help but notice her outfit—a sexy black dress that highlighted her curves. I pushed the thought aside, feeling a mix of protectiveness and something else I couldn't quite identify.

Once I was back in the driver's seat, I turned to her. "Do you want to talk about what happened?" I asked.

She shook her head, still processing everything. "Maybe later. I just want to get away from here."

I nodded, understanding her need for space. "Alright. Let's go somewhere quiet."

As I drove away from the club, the city lights flashing by, I felt a strange mix of emotions. Relief, fear, gratitude, and a lingering anger. But above all, I felt a somthing weird in her presence and her scent was so sweet.

After a while, I pulled into a quiet, secluded spot overlooking the city. We sat there in silence for a few moments, the distant hum of the city below us. Finally, I turned to her again. "You're safe now, Elena. No one's going to hurt you."

She nodded, taking a deep breath. "Thank you, Carmen. I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't shown up."

I smiled, a reassuring warmth in my eyes. "You don't have to worry about that. I'm just glad I could help."

The silence stretched between us, comfortable yet charged with unspoken emotions. I glanced at Elena, her profile illuminated by the city lights below. There was something about her that drew me in, something I couldn't quite place. It was more than just physical attraction. It was a connection, a pull that I hadn't felt in a long time.

"Elena," I began, my voice softer than usual, "I want you to know that if you ever need anything, you can come to me. I know we've only just met, but… I feel like I can trust you."

She turned to look at me, her eyes wide with surprise and something else—gratitude, perhaps. "Thank you, Carmen. That means a lot to me."

I nodded, feeling a strange sense of contentment. "Let's get you home. It's been a long night."

As I drove her back, the silence was no longer heavy but filled with a newfound understanding. When we reached her place, I walked her to the door, feeling a reluctance to leave her alone.

"Will you be alright?" I asked, my hand resting lightly on her arm.

She smiled, a genuine smile that reached her eyes. "Yes, I will. Thanks to you."

I nodded, my fingers lingering a moment longer before I stepped back. "Goodnight, Elena."

"Goodnight, Carmen," she replied, her voice soft.

I turned and walked back to my car, my mind a whirl of conflicting emotions. As I drove away, I couldn't help but wonder what it was about Elena that had such a powerful effect on me. For the first time in a long while, I felt something other than the cold detachment that had become my norm.

Back at my place, I couldn't sleep. The night's events played over and over in my mind. The anger I felt when I saw Elena being harassed, the protectiveness that surged through me, and the strange warmth that her presence brought. It was all so confusing, so unlike me.

Staring at the ceiling, I knew one thing for certain—Elena Vargas had awakened something in me, something I couldn't ignore. And I was determined to find out what it was.

Before I could even think about sleeping, there was one last matter to attend to. I pressed a button on the intercom beside my bed, summoning one of my most trusted servants. Within minutes, a tall, shadowy figure appeared at my door.

"Madame," he greeted, his voice low and respectful.

"I need you to take care of something for me," I said, my voice icy and commanding. "There's a boy named Alex. He was the one who tried to harass Elena tonight. I want him gone."

The servant nodded, not a hint of surprise or hesitation on his face. "Consider it done."

I dismissed him with a wave of my hand, feeling a cold satisfaction settle over me. Alex had made a grave mistake, and now he would pay for it. With that settled, I finally felt a semblance of peace.

I slipped into bed, though sleep remained elusive. Elena's face lingered in my thoughts, and the warmth of her gratitude stayed with me as I drifted into a restless slumber.
