Chapter 338: I'm finished

The cozy warmth of the couch cocoon wrapped around us, and for a few stolen moments, the world outside ceased to exist.

Carmen's fingers played idly with the hem of my shirt, her touch light enough to send shivers up my spine but teasingly deliberate. She had a knack for pushing just enough to get under my skin, a skill she wielded with infuriating charm. 

Her lips brushed against my temple, her breath warm as she murmured, "You're awfully quiet, Vargas. Planning something?" 

I smirked, tilting my head to meet her gaze. "Trying to figure out how to get you to leave me alone long enough to finish my work." 

"Hmm," she hummed, her eyes narrowing as she leaned in closer, her lips grazing the corner of my mouth. "But where's the fun in that?"
