Chapter 254: Horror night

After dinner, I thought the night was winding down. The meal had been delicious, and the playful banter around the table made me feel right at home. As we were finishing up, Mrs. Everett stood up, dabbing the corners of her mouth with her napkin.

"Well, that was lovely," she said, smiling warmly at all of us. "But the night's not over yet."

Chloe raised an eyebrow. "Oh no, Mom. What do you have planned?"

Mrs. Everett's grin widened as she glanced over at her husband, who chuckled knowingly. "I was thinking… horror movie night."

Chloe let out a groan. "Mom, seriously? We just ate. Do you remember what happened last time?"

"Oh, I remember perfectly," Mrs. Everett replied, her tone laced with mischief. "That's why I suggested it."

Chloe shot me a look of pure exasperation, and I couldn't help but laugh. "Wait, what happened last time?"
