Chapter 310: Get back to work

When the knock echoed through the quiet of the room, I froze. Carmen, tangled up beside me, stirred as I opened my eyes and became aware of two things simultaneously: we were still naked, with not a single blanket covering us, and we were sprawled right there in the middle of the living room.

My heart rate picked up as I scrambled to sit up, glancing frantically toward the door.

"Oh no," I muttered, biting my lip as I shook Carmen's shoulder. "Carmen. Someone's here."

She blinked awake, looking drowsy but slightly amused as she caught sight of my panicked expression. But when another knock came, her smile vanished, and she was up in a flash, eyes wide as the realization hit her.

"We need clothes. Now," I whispered urgently, reaching for anything within arm's reach that could even remotely resemble clothing.

My own clothes were scattered all over the place my shirt by the coffee table, my pants near the lamp, and everything else God knows where.
