Chapter 5: CHAPTER 5

My eyes slowly open to see the front garden from my desk window as I sit up. Did I fall asleep? Wait what day is it? Why is it starting to get dark? Oh no! The party! Normally Clarity wakes me up because she comes to check in on me, but this time there's a lot of stuff that needed to be done so she was too busy! I check the time and see it's 20 before 6.

The party guests will start to arrive at 6:30, so I have close to an hour to get ready, and as a Princess hosting the party, that is not enough time. I raced to my closet to luckily see my outfit already planned out from the other day. I have never been more glad to have everything planed out. I got changed and warmed up my hair curler.

I put my hair in a low curled ponytail with a small braid like what I showed Spring yesterday and put it on my shoulder showing my exposed back because of the dress and neck. I took my makeup and just put light blush, mascara, and lipstick. Not to sound cocky or prideful but I don't need all the other stuff girls to wear. Clarity runs into my room out of breath as she was leaning on my door.

"Hey, you ok?" I asked. "Yes I'm just fine, I just wanted to make sure you're getting ready. " Clarity said still panting. "Well I'm ready, we should get you a glass of water. Come on." I gesture to Clarity.

I held her straight and took her to the kitchen to get her a drink. "Is the ballroom all set?" I asked. "Yes, it's all decorated, we just gotta put the food out."

"I see." Oh, flower field! I completely forgot to let my mom know about that weird person messing with the light generator. "Say Clarity, have you seen Mom around?" I questioned. "Yes, but she's busy right now with your dad, I don't recommend seeing them right now." Clarity exclaimed.

"You don't mean there?" I said worryingly. I did not need to know that. "No no! They're just doing some work right now." Clarity laughed. "Phew, I did not need to know that if so." I chuckled.

I look out the window and can start to hear people talking outside the yard so that probably means it's almost 6:30. I normally like to open the doors for everyone because I just think it's nice to be greeted at the door by someone hosting the party.

I walked up to the door and pulled it open. "Good afternoon everyone! I'm glad you could make it!" I curtsied. I led everyone into the ballroom and left the room to inform my other family members that people are arriving.

I walked up the stairs but made it about halfway until I heard my name being called from the door. "April!" Autumn yelled. "Oh hey Autumn you're here pretty early," I said. "Ya well, I wanted to talk to you."

"Oh really? Anything in particular?" I asked. "Well um, no just wanted to talk in general."

"I see, well let's go into the ballroom then and talk there, people might want to talk to us," I suggested.

I and Autumn made our way to the ballroom and stood on the edge wall near the stage talking to each other, nothing in particular just how our lives are going. I let him know about the weird guy and the light generator and told me to keep my guard up. I agreed and said he should do the same in case anything were to happen. I surely hope not though, it is my sister's news being told to the world right now.

I talked with Autumn a bit more until a certain Summer fairy joined us in the dress me and she picked out yesterday.

"Hey! Welcome Summer." I greeted her. "Hey, I'm glad I could make it. Hey Autumn, how are you?" Summer asked. "All good, you?"

"I'm alright thanks." We normally stay together in events like these because we are pretty young for this kind of work and so there's not anyone we are comfortable with on a friend level. Everyone here I know, but only on a royalty and business level.

I wanted a drink of punch since it's only ever made at parties so I told my friends I'd be right back and walked over to the beverage table. I grabbed myself a glass and turned around to face the dance floor. The music was smooth and soft, just like the wind in Spring. Perfect sounds for when the news is told to countless people. "Evening"

I jumped and looked to my right and saw Winter standing there waving at me. "Don't scare me like that," I exclaim. "Sorry, I didn't mean to," Winter said.

"My parents are looking for your parents. Have they joined us?" Winter asked. "They should be down soon," I answered. I looked over to the entrance door and saw my sister and Ray come in. "The party is starting soon. Let's get back to the others."

I and Winter walked back to Summer and Autumn and at the same time my parents walked up on stage. Guess that means I should head up too. I walked away from my friends and joined my parents, sister, and Ray beside them in front of everyone.

"Welcome everyone, I'm glad you all made it! We have such good news we couldn't wait to inform you all." Dad announced. My dad was always good at speeches in front of people. Ever since I was a kid I thought he was so cool each time he would go in front of a crowd and talk about something regarding Spring or anything in the kingdoms.

"This matter has to do with the kingdom's future and whether or not things will go smoothly. We are hoping for the best outcome and believe things will end up alright. As for the news, I think Spring and Ray should handle this one." Mom said.

I watched as both my soon to be brother in law and sister walk up to the edge of the stage with their hands intertwined. "I and Ray as you all know have been engaged for a while now. We talked and we are both old enough to take on responsibilities together and live our lives as we were told we'd have to at the beginning of our engagement. I'm happy to announce that in a couple of months I and Ray will be your new Spring King and Queen."

Cheers erupted throughout the crowd! Everyone probably already had this on their minds when they thought Spring had an announcement. Of course, everyone was overjoyed about it. "Let's not stop this party now though! Let's keep the night going!" Spring shouted. The music started again and everyone moved to the dance floor.

I got off the stage and ran to my friends. I can tell they were surprised by the news. "Is this the time for congratulations?" Summer asked. "Maybe for my Sister, but it looks like she's dancing with Ray right now. So you can give her your congrats later." I answered. "Lets go dance guys!" Autumn exclaimed.

Autumn took us to the dance floor and we all danced around the floor and all laughed and had fun. The scene was truly beautiful. We all danced while our dresses were waving around, completely stunning, but after the dance music then changed to a slow dance type sound, and some people moved away.

Most of the time I and my friends just sit these kinds of things out, but sometimes. I turn around to see Autumn holding out his hand. "Wanna dance?" Sometimes, Autumn has an urge to ask me, only me.

I took his hand politely and lightly nodded to his request. I rested my hands on his shoulders and swayed back and forth in unison with him.

"How are you feeling about the coronation of your sister?" Autumn asked. "I don't really know my feelings about it to be honest."

"Well it doesn't matter right now, let's just have a fun time together." Autumn was right, we can't worry about the future right now, I don't want to ruin everyone else's mood by being down. So I pushed down my feelings for now.

The slow dance ended and I could tell everyone was getting tired. Most parties are very hyper ones especially this one, mainly because it's such big news, people really wanted to celebrate.

I see my sister from the corner of my eyes walking towards me and she looked a little upset. "Keep your guard up, I was told someone messed with the light generator. We were ready for this so there are guards already outside." Spring whispered in my ear.

I knew it. Somethings going to happen. Just as I finished my thought all the lights turned off. It was midnight so it was dark outside too. Crap, what do we do if we can't even see our opponent!
