William paced around the room before he closed the door and blocked it once more. He could have just picked to search for Gloria by roaming around in the ventilation, but it would be very stupid. There were several intersections there.
Besides, as a grown up man with large built, William was a bit worried that he might get stuck when he was in the middle. It would not be funny if he couldn't get out and had to ask for help because of his large built. It would be better for him to find out where she went by searching around the area.
Yakov sighed. "Since she can protect herself, isn't it fine to leave her alone?"
"I'm not sure."
"Tsk, you're such a soft hearted man. Anyway, don't ask me to bring along those scums outside."
William shook his head. He certainly didn't wish to bring that young master and his guard along with him. They were only thinking of obtaining benefit from this situation without realizing how dangerous the real situation was.
As for the other two people, he was not entirely sure about them.
He glanced to the bedroom and finally realized that there was something that missing. When the girl came here with him, she was carrying a large bag behind her. But now that he was looking at the room, he realized that the bag was also missing.
'Even in that situation, she still brings her bag with her?'
William smiled lightly. It seemed that the young girl was actually prepared for this situation based on the way she handled it. At the same time, it also showed that she was not as relaxed as she showed herself on the surface. She had prepared an escape route for herself.
When he was thinking, William suddenly heard dull sound coming from outside the hotel. He walked to the window and glanced out. From his location, he could see that the Xermo managed to overturn the speaker, effectively stopping the government's announcement to stop releasing their report.
"Do you think they'll return back to this place?" William asked in a low tone.
Yakov furrowed his brows. "It's not impossible, but do you really think that they want to go here when there's nothing in this place?"
"There are a lot of blood."
Blood.
No one knew for sure what actually attracted Xermo. Some said that it was food while some others said that they were also attracted to blood. In any case, no one dared to stay close with Xermo because they were afraid of what might possibly happen. If they truly attracted the Xermo, they would be dead meat.
Yakov furrowed his brows. "They won't come just because of…"
The two of them stopped speaking as they could hear the dull sound of Xermo banging the door. Now that they thought about it, they didn't close the door to the stairways properly because they were faced with some scums who didn't know how the current society work.
"Yakov."
"On it."
Swiftly, Yakov readied his position and prepared his gun while staying behind a desk. William was not far from him with his gun ready. They were looking at the door, waiting for the time when the Xermo would break in and threaten their lives.
Time ticked ever so slowly.
The door to William's room located at the back, which meant that the Xermo would surely head over to the other doors first. However, the banging sound on their door could be heard just a few minutes after the first one.
Thankfully, the door was sturdy, so it would take some time before the Xermo could possibly break in.
Bam! Bang! Bang!
The moment the door was opened, Yakov and William started to open fire and killed the row of Xermo that was flooding in. Their number had surprisingly increased so much, which took a long time for the two of them to kill.
Sound of gunshot filled the area for a period of time.
"How come there are so many Xermo?" Yakov asked when the last Xermo had fallen to the floor. Just from the number that showed here, there were at least 20 Xermo.
William looked at the door and furrowed his brows. "The closed door."
"Yes?"
"What do you think inside the place?"
The two of them looked at each other, but they couldn't answer. Slowly, they walked out and noticed that two of the doors that was filled with people were already breached. Checking the place, they noticed that there were no one inside, not even bodies.
William took another look at the Xermo behind him and sighed. "Please don't tell me that they already changed to be a Xermo in such a short period of time."
"I'm afraid that's the case," Yakov said with a sigh.
Prang!
The sound of glass breaking attracted their attention. Afterwards, they could hear scream coming from the last closed door before the door was kicked open. The young master from before ran out of the room. His body froze when he saw the two men in front of him before he began to make a run towards the stairways.
William and Yakov paid no heed to the young master and rushed to the room. It was then they noticed that the window that was at the north had shattered. A Xermo managed to break in. He was sitting on top of the guard with a piece of meat on his mouth. Fresh blood splattered around his position, painting a gory sight.
BANG!
There was no hesitation as William pulled the trigger, killing the Xermo with one shoot. His eyes landed on the guard that was bitten as the guard was trying to stand up. The area where he was bitten had turned slightly blue while his eyes changed slowly to show a crazed look.
His movement grew slower and slower before reasons completely disappear from his eyes.
Aaa!
The guard suddenly looked over at William's direction and was about to pounce over when a bullet was heading straight to his head.
BANG!
"Less than 10 seconds," William muttered. He looked at Yakov with a frown. "The mutation and infection is this fast?"
"Don't look at me like that! I don't know too," Yakov said helplessly.
William shook his head when they suddenly heard scream coming from the floor below them.
