“Naw, he’s good. He did a reception for the AKAs last week. Maya Rodgers told me about it when I ran into her downtown yesterday. Big as her ass is, if she said the food was off the chain, then Calvin knows what he is doing.”

Glancing at the digital clock on the nightstand, my mother ushered Yolanda and I to get moving, “You girls better go ahead and get on the road before it gets too dark. Y’all call me when y’all get home. Yvette, watch your speed, your apartment will be there when you get there and you don’t need a ticket.”

“Yes, ma’am,” I said as Yolanda and I walked outside and put our bags in the car. As we left, we waved to our mother who was standing on the porch.
