"Has Luke Henson dealt with the problem?" Wilma Kent looked over at her husband William for confirmation.
"No, I mentioned it to him; if he does not contain it, he will pay the price."
Both wretched human beings sat so casually discussing the misfortune they wanted to happen to Clarissa as a gift to the Nguyen for good faith and protect their grandchild, that would be born in less than a couple of months.
"If she started working with Roman, it will be harder once she remembers everything"
"I would not worry, my dear, she is a speck of ants to even be in the same room as Roman. We won't be implicated either since Luke needed to settle this before the child was born., I will make sure he will take the blame."
Puffing his pipe and blowing the smokes, Williams hated the fact,, Logan even associated himself with a lowly-born woman to the point that almost jeopardized his inheritance. They have an eye on the Nguyen's wealth since the Kent has slowly declined, none of their children are capable of managing the business, they owe too much and slow, and some of their business has been bought by Roman Knights; that's the only reason they have been able to still keeping the facade of being the 1% of the affluent population.
...
In the Clubhouse.
Roman arrived clad in his shirt and jeans, looking casual yet always managing to captivate everyone there that celebrating Logan's bachelor's party. He saw Logan drinking half of the whiskey, painting a gloomy expression contradicting towards the crowd of cheery people surrounding them.
He sat at the dimmed corner looking miserable since his wedding day would take place tomorrow night and knew he would be doomed.
"You need to get your shit together, man" Roman grabbed the bottle and pushed it aside far from his reach.
"What do you know? I'm about to be bound with a bitch I accidentally impregnated."
"She is going to be your wife and a mother of your child; don't be too casual calling her names like that," he warned Logan, which showed a sign of aggression.
Roman has a different value than his friend, he is cocky and arrogant, but to a certain point, he draws the line. The Logan he knew and saw now is nothing but a walking, empty shell. He spent his time avoiding them and being couped up at home. His demeanor turned cold, and he started getting tipsy, blurting out information Roman knew best to keep secret.
"The woman I want..there is no love in her eyes when she looks at me; I am just a stranger to her.."
Roman remains silent.
"You chose this, bud; you knew this would happen, so enjoy what you already have; you are going to be a father." he consoled him.
"I can't stand up for myself; how can I be a father and a protector."
Logan is pitiful; he then retook the bottle and gulped it in one go before Roman grabbed it away from him. He looked at the bodyguards and gestured for them to take Logan back immediately before he did something he regretted.
The party continued; however, Roman left, not wanting to spend another minute and letting Cody know he would take his leaves.
He got into his car and drove off to Knights Manor to spend the night there. His mom might sometimes be infuriating, but he loves her and is a filial son except for marriage. If he were married, he would want what his parents had, love. Seeing Logan and soon Cody might follow in the arranged marriage footstep, he doesn't believe in love after marriage. As much as he told Logan to do it, he knew damn well this happily after an arranged marriage was impossible.
The Knights believe in producing good offspring; it's proven for generations a woman or man that was married into the Knights was marrying for love, therefore creating a happy environment. They have a remarkable family dynamic that has made children flourish and grow to be exceptional.
That is why also they were told to love someone that will be worth being a mother or father to their kids.
Parking his car at the compound, he saw his mom chatting with Butler Don while sipping their tea and some baked goods.
"Aren't you a little old to eat sweets at night, mom" He walked in, placed his car key on the table, and sat next to his mother.
Butler Don stood up and bowed to him respectfully and went to the kitchen to bring another teacup for him.
Pamela scoffed when Roman tried to guilt her for not caring for herself.
"Aren't you a little too old not to have a wife and children for your old mother"
He knew she would say that and disregard her while Butler Don smiled, pouring the tea for him.
"Mom, I haven't seen a worthy girl for me to indulge and love."
"Why don't I find you one? That girl in the bakery I encountered, I just liked her naturally. Too bad she has a boyfriend, but she can leave him for you!"
"..."
"Mom.."
"I know. I know...I am just worried about you; I never see you dating anyone, unlike your brothers; they might not marry the woman, but at least they went and dated, they explore, and they let themselves have feelings."
She is genuinely worried about him.
"If you don't like women, I'm fine with a man too; just find a surrogate to have a baby, that way you still have children of your own.."
The tea he drank spattered onto Butler's Don face that was seated across from him...
His mom, indeed, has a way of brightening the mood. This resulted in three of them laughing. It has been a while since Roman had a good laugh. He, too, has to put up some defenses to protect his family. He had heard unpleasant things regarding The Kent. Logan might not be directly involved but he prefers not to let his guard down.
Hs will protect his family no matter what.
