Chapter 20: Tears of the soul I
When Paula arrived with several drinks she said: well... It's time to clear up all this mess.
Logically Kath just looked at the people present with curiosity and confusion and as expected she couldn't help her anxiety and asked: Can I know what's going on, because I feel so lost.
Paula who looks at me fixedly says: baby girl, you can't hide it anymore, you must tell her the truth.
Dante stands next to Kath and while taking her hand with a gesture that reminded me of old times said: I will always be by your side, you don't have to feel lost.
As he gave her a warm smile and noticed how my pretty Kath smiled back at him. That scene stirred up a lot of memories and although I felt like crying I calmed myself down and while taking a deep breath I looked at Cedric who was just looking at the cups of hot chocolate and how the steam was making shapes out of the cup.
Then I looked at Kath and saying in a soft tone I told her that her mother Sapphire had transmuted, clearly Kath didn't understand much so I explained, after a pause she asked me
Kath: How do you know all that? Also, how do I know it's true.
I took some chocolate and then I told her: I am not lying to you my child, since I am Sapphire... Maybe not in body, but in soul.
Kath could not believe it and as I looked at Cedric I was looking for him to say something, but he just remained silent, Dante although he had heard my story supported Kath so he asked me key questions so Kath would not be confused, Jack and Paula rarely gave their opinions either in my favor or Kath's favor.
I was grateful that they were neutral in the family chat, but although I imagined many questions from my daughter or Dante, I did not imagine Cedric asking the golden question How did I die, from what or who killed me.
Dante partly felt that this question was not only a blow to Cedric or to me, but also to Kath since he never dared to ask me such a question, Jack and Paula just looked at each other and lowered their eyes, while I took a breath and after taking a little I answered
Me: I didn't die of natural causes, you and Kath were in the village and who was with me at that moment was Dalila, maybe she saw it as a premonitory dream, but the truth is that she came out of that fight with a dark being somewhat beaten, her smell of death invaded my body and although I want to forget all that, her words remained engraved in me.
After a pause I clenched my fist and with an angry voice I continued: I still remember how she said 'you only serve me dead' I fought with all my strength but she only left me agonizing, with the little energy I made a protection spell for both of you, so that nothing bad or dark would hurt you.
After saying all that, I tried to calm down and finish drinking the hot chocolate, nobody said anything, only the noise of the bamboo hitting the stones resounded in the room, after that I stood up and apologized to everyone, I really needed a break because I wanted to scream with anger and cry with rage for having been weak, when I was about to leave Cedric asked me to wait and as I was not in the mood for more wounds I said to him
Me: don't worry about me, I already understood that I lost you and I only wish you to be happy with your new family, I promise not to interfere.
Although Cedric tried to stop me, I ignored him and went out of the main room to one of the bedrooms, where I could stifle a scream and some tears that managed to escape.
