Chapter 20: Chapter 20

Braxton waited without saying a word. The line was dead silent, only some shuffling could be heard. He could tell the caller was feminine by her voice. He crossed his legs in patience and after a silence that seemed to last forever, a dim male voice resounded. 

" Braxton, it's your father. Two days since you left and you have not reported back. You left your mom worried over here and pestering me to make this call." His dad's voice reprimanded after snatching the phone from his mum. He couldn't believe he had forgotten that he had changed his line and he was pretty sure his mother must have tried to reach him all to no avail. How worried she must have been! 

" Dad, I'm sorry! Things have been so hectic with the house, the job, and…" Braxton replied trailing off. He wasn't about to tell his father that on a very important task he was assigned to handle, a woman had stolen his heart and attention.
