Chapter 41: Weak Spot

Preparing himself to rush forward the moment that the demonic hybrid dropped, Edgar locked his eyes on the hybrid. "There he goes! You will be mine!" Those words were what he thought in his heart the moment that the saw the demonic hybrid starting to drop. As Edgar was some ways away, he started running the moment that the demonic hybrids started to drop. His movements almost had a perfect timing to that of the demonic hybrid.

Getting closer, Edgar braced himself for the shock of the demonic hybrid. The moment that the demonic hybrid hit the ground, Edgar almost lost his footing from the shockwave. As he was already prepared, the shockwave did not affect him that much. Rushing forward, he could hear several shouts from the soldiers. Some of these shouts were short, as the soldiers did not survive for long. Others kept on screaming trying to get attention of their fellow brothers to help them out.

Ignoring all this, Edgar concentrated on his target. Rushing past the dusk cloud, Edgar could finally see his target. There it was the demonic hybrid. Even though it looked tough, the hybrid also started to some weariness. All that dropping and flying drained also some of its energy.

Getting closer to the hybrid, Edgar stationed himself to the back of the hybrid where the wings were exposed. Looking at its target, Edgar noticed that the hybrid started to prepare itself to fly back up again. There was not much time for him to strike. He had to make it all count.

Looking at the movement, it was clear that Edgar probably had 2 good strikes before the hybrid would be out of its reach. Yet, it was still in his reach currently. Swinging his sword towards the joint of the wing, Edgar felt that he had hit. Happiness grew in him, until he noticed that he cut was not deep and the hybrid continued to fly away.

Even though the hybrid cried out in pain from the cut, it did not stop its movements. Its movements even increased, as it desperately tried to get away from the dangerous situation it was currently in.

Edgar had one last swing before the hybrid would escape. He had to make sure that this time the cut would provide results. Swinging with all his strength at the same point he previously hit, the sword did not stop at all as it cut the wing off form the main body.

Having lost one of its wings, the demonic hybrid gave out a loud shriek in pain. This also prevented him from flying up again, as it fell back down to the ground. Standing on its feet, the hybrid decided to get in close combat with the soldiers now until its last moment. There was no way to escape anymore, she the only way out was trough fighting. As the hybrid was annoyed with Edgar, who cut his wing off, its main target was neutrally Edgar. It started to swing its bear like claw at Edgar.

As the claw was coming towards him, Edgar noticed that the movement of the hybrid was rather sluggish. It was clear that the demonic hybrid was only meant to cause heavy damage from the sky, but on the ground it was rather weak. The shell hindered its movements as well. So dodging the claw was a walk in the park for Edgar.

Not even 5 minutes into the ground battle of the hybrid, it was already defeated. Edgar stood victorious above the hybrid, as it made dozens of cuts and holes on the body of the hybrid. With this, Edgar had claimed his first demonic hybrid kill.
