Chapter 2: Humiliation
Li Bai Xue was on her way to greet Empress Dowager when she bumped into Empress Feng and San Gongzhu.
"Bengong wish Empress long-lived."
"Xiao Xue is heading back from Empress dowager's manor?" Empress Feng asked. Empress Feng, Feng Jiu, was the wu gongzhu from Xiang. She came here for a marriage alliance with the Emperor. She was also not Li Bai Xue's biological mother.
"Yes, Empress." Li Bai Xue said. Li Bai Xue smiled but her eyes held no warmth in them for her. Empress Feng was the reason she was living in hell right now. Empress Feng assassinated her mother and nearly ruined her meridians. She was lucky that her mother discovered it in time, and saved her but it was too late.
Half of her meridians were destroyed by the poison. So every time she cultivates her meridians will feel it was burning and her bones would feel like it was crushed. She wasn't even content with that and ordered people to assassinate her mother.
Even though her mother was one of the best cultivators, she couldn't beat up four Nascent ranks cultivators when she was poisoned. The assassination was covered up by an accident. But she knew the truth because she had witnessed it herself.
Her mother was taking her to go visit her aunt when they got attacked along the way. The food that the soldiers and they eat was drugged with poison. Her mother was bleeding like crazy when she hid her away.
She was told to be silent and to speak to no one. She saw her mother who was fighting and protecting her while she was injured herself. Her mother led the assassins away from her. She stayed hidden away and didn't dare move even when everyone was gone.
A week later, the Emperor finds out about everything and sends a search party looking for her and her mother. When they found Li Bai Xue she had a high fever, and she didn't talk for three whole months until Empress Dowager talked to her.
At that time, she was only seven years old. For a seven-year-old to witness something like that was terrifying for anyone, especially for a pampered princess. Ever since then, she knows that to survive in the palace you have to risk everything.
"Then, farewell," Feng Jiu said.
Li Bai Xue bows once again before Empress Feng leaves. Empress Feng showed a smile but her eyes held disdain.
Lin Qian saw her looks and wanted to beat her up, but she held everything in for her gongzhu. She had been trained ever since she entered the palace to control her facial expression.
"Gongzhu..."
"Lin Qian controls yourself. Soon, she will be embarrassed," Li Bai Xue said. Lin Qian process her words before understanding. "We should head back now."
"Yes Gongzhu," Lin Qian said.

Empress Feng and Li Fu Ling were turned down when they visited the Empress Dowager.
"Her highness said that she is too tired to come to greet guests. Your highness and san gongzhu should return for today," a servant said.
Empress Feng smiled. "Bengong understands. Tell her highness to retire early," Empress Feng said with a smile. The servant nodded as she trembled lightly.

Empress Feng reached her room before her anger showed on her face. "How dare she humiliate me like this!" She threw everything on the small round table onto the floor, smashing everything. The handmaiden outside trembles in fear.
Even if they fear their master they still wouldn't dare to go against her. Mama Gui, Feng Jiu's personal handmaiden, enters the room.
"Your highness should calm down first," Mama Gui said calmly.
"Calm down! That old shrew humiliated me in front of so many servants what it spread! She has no regard to me the empress! She willingly sees that brat yet she turns me and my child away! If she does not intentionally humiliate me then what is she doing?"
"Your highness you are the empress, you should watch your temper. The Empress Dowager is getting old. Since she worships Buddhism then why don't you pray for her well being."
Feng Jiu stops to think for a while. Her face slowly had a creepy smile. "Good idea. Even if that old shrew doesn't accept the blessing. Others will think that I have good intentions in mind. Set a date."
"Yes, your highness."
