Chapter 1: Chapter 0: Background

"Hey little grimlings, I'm leaving." The middle aged man's voice echos throughout the mansion. He had a suit case on one hand and a duffle bag in the other. He stands at the bottom center of the grand double-side staircase waiting.

Just then, a gradual sound of footsteps, turned to a shuffle and break out to a run cam be heard upstairs. It wasn't long till he sees two little black heads pop out at the top of either side of staircase. The man smiles as he watches the pair of heads descend down the stairs giggling.

"I'll be back in two days. I want you both to behave and hold down the forth for me while I'm gone," He bends down to look at the two children in front of him, "Bed time at 9pm, no extension. Take your vitamins and don't cause any troubles. If anything happens go to Karl, and call me okay?" He pull the two into an embrace.

"Yes, Daddy!" The two reply. He looks down to his left. Marie's hair was in a pony tail that lay lazily on her small shoulders. Her white dress float around her like an angle. He then looks over to his right and sees Divine's black hair cascade down her shoulders to her waist in waves. The little girls red dress gave her a look of a mischievous character.

"Now give me a kiss!" He gushes at his twin daughters. A pang of sadness washes over him. I wish their mom was here to see them grow.

The both girls peck at their father's clean, shaved face. After that, they watch their father slip into the black car and gave chase, as he leaves the property.

TWO DAYS LATER

The weather outside was dark and cold with heavy rain. Karl, the Young family's head butler, glances at the rear view mirror. Both girls were dressed in black dresses, with an expressionless face that matches the weather. The butler's chest pangs in pain for his young misses. They continue to travel in silence towards their destination. It wasn't long till they pull up in front of a building. The butler steps out and opens the door for the girls,

"We have arrive." He bows. They girls step out of the car, hand in hand, as they stop in front of their butler with a stoned face.

"Thank you, Karl." Both girls look at him sadly. He briskly walks to the building's doors and open it for them.

"It is my duty, little misses."

The two sisters walk into the building with their hearts hiding behind thick walls as they prepare themselves for the up coming event.

As they walk in, there were more unfamiliar, calculative faces than those they recognize. Marie tightens her hand around Divines, as they walk towards the front seats. Whispers filled the room as they ranged from pity, gossip, and greed.

"Those poor things. They're already orphans at such an age." Divine frowns listening.

"I wonder how much money their father left them. It's probably a lot. Who ever marries them will be rich." Marie silently scoffs.

"I heard he committed suicide because he was found dealing with the underground dealers, and drove his car off the cliff." Both girls clenches their jaws hearing the ridiculous gossip.

They stop at the foot of the steps that leads to a coffin with a picture of a smiling middle-aged man in his tux, while sad, melancholic music played at the back. The vigil begins.

The girls put their hands together and bows respectfully at the man of the hour. Their father. They walk off and take a seat on the front row seats. As the rosary reciting plays at the back.

Marie looks around her. Seated next to them was their Aunt Redillia, who is single and unmarried with no children. She was the one who called butler Karl about the death of their father. Next to her was their Uncle Randall, who was married to a blonde woman named Jessica Wang. They have two children who were a few years older than the twins and are not present for the service.

Marie looks at her sister's blank expression and frowns. Her attention then shifts from her sister to the heels tapping towards her father's coffin. Her Aunt Redillia stood at the front, leading the ceremony.

"Thank you all who have come to mourn for my brother, your friend and you're family, Renard Young." Marie stops listening throughout the whole ceremony. When the time of viewing began did she come back to her surroundings.

She and her sister watch as people they don't recognize pay their respects to their father, many of which placed various of flowers on his table. Some cried by his casket, others bow in respect.

The minutes tick as one by one people began to leave the funeral home. An hour has passed and it was just the two sisters, their Aunt and Uncle.

"Girls," Uncle Randall taps the two by the shoulders, "Karl is here to pick you both up. So why don't you head back home and rest for the remaining of the day. Your Aunt Red will follow you shortly home."

The girls silently stood up, head towards their father's casket one more time. They said their prayers and farewell before leaving the building.

The mansion was cold inside, when they arrive. Karl takes the girls coats off them and hang it on the coat rack.

"What would you both like to have for dinner?" Karl asks, following the girls as they head towards the dinning room.

"Can we have mushroom soup?" Divine rhetorically asks.

"And some italian sausage?" Marie adds.

"Mushroom soup with a side of Italian sausage it is." Karl leaves to the kitchen as the two take a seat next to each other. It wasn't long till tire screeches from out front the mansion. Doors burst opened and there stood Aunt Redillia.

Her black, wavy long hair fell down her shoulders. She wore a red fitted gown with a long slit from the sides, and a white fur coat. She walks in the foyer, hips swaying with a smug caked face. Four mean looking men followed behind her and another unfamiliar man dressed in a tux stood next to her. She looks down at the two look-a-like girls in front of her. Leaning down, chest about to pop out, she smirks at them.

"Hello, little girls," She grins, "Would you like to kiss your Aunty Redillia hello?"

The twins didn't make a move and just stare at the lady in front of them.

"Oh don't be mean. I know my brother would never allow me to meet you two pumpkins, but― " She swiftly grabs their faces in both her hands, squeezing their cheeks together, "―he's gone."

Their aunt laughs and lets go of their faces. She pushes them apart and walks in between. She looks around the mansion to the dining room first. She drags her red nails against the polished chairs before settling on one.

"Sit down you two." She demands the girls, but neither followed, "Whatever, here I thought I'd be nice enough to let you seat down, while we have a family meeting."

When neither girls make a move or response, their aunt folds her hands I front off her and stare them down.

"Your father got into a car accident," She starts off, " and that's all I know in that topic. Now... Since he's dead, there's the talk of who will take care of you two. But no need to worry, I volunteered to be your guardian. Aren't I nice?" She laughs.

The two sisters blankly stare at their aunt's fake personality. The kitchen doors swing open and maids roll out with dinner.

"Oh great! Dinner! How thoughtful― " Her words were cut off when the maids pass her to the twins. They place a covered platter in front of the two girls and open the lids. There was a large bowl of steaming mushroom soup and cut up italian sausage on the side for meat.

"Dinner is served." Karl appears from the kitchen.

"W-well... What about my dinner?" She glares at Karl. Karl looks down at her, narrowing his eyes.

"Why we weren't expecting guests. Would you like to have what the girls are having?" Marie and Divine silently giggle at Karl's lack of apology. Aunt Redillia rolls her eyes and fans her hands at the butler.

"No thank you. I almost forgot that I had a dinner date tonight." She looks back at the girls.

"While you eat, I'll introduce you both to my rules!" She claps, "First rule, you can't take or use of what's mine." She taps at her chair, "For example, this seat is mine. No one sits on it."

Marie takes a spoon of her soup and blows it to cool down. Divine pops a sausage in her mouth.

"Second rule, Do not play inside. There's a backyard for you both to roll in and use." She continues.

"Third rule, if you want to buy something, you have to ask for my permission first."

Both girls stop and look at her, "That's our money. You have no right to handle that for us." Marie growls. There's no way am I letting this money grubber hold our money.

"Oh that's too bad, I do have a right. You're both aren't old enough to control your assets at your age. You won't be able to use your money freely till your eighteen." She evilly laughs.

"You still have eight more years to go. By then you won't have any money left for you to use." This witch, Divine curses to herself.

"Now for the last rule. You break these rules, I will kick you out the house." She sneers.

Marie and Divine stop eating and glare at their Aunt's rules. Aunt Redillia claps her hands one last time before standing up.

"Okay, now that you both know the rules, keep it in mind. I shall move in tomorrow and expect you both to be in your best behavior with me. Now eat your dinners and get to bed. I have a date to catch." She walks out the dining room and out the door with her lackey.

The girls were left alone once again, this time feeling anger and rage.

"Karl." Divine calls out.

Karl is instantly next to them, awaiting for her request.

"Yes, my lady?"

"I want my father's original will tonight. Make another copy to leave behind. You will not speak of this and do this in secrecy." She orders.

"This needs to be done tonight before her guardianship begins." Both girls simultaneously ordered. Karl nods and disappears for the night. Marie and Divine get back to their last proper dinner.

After their aunt moved in. The twins suffered many hardships. They were sent to bad, run down schools throughout their early and middle education. Their aunt always feed them junk food or she starved them in their rooms when they missed behaved.

On their 18th birthday, they demanded their aunt to leave the mansion and give back their father's assets.

The will states that once both parties come of age (18), they are now appointed as the inheritors of Mr. Renard A. Young. All assets are to be given to Marie Young and Divine Young.

"Oh this? Yeah, I don't care." Aunt Redillia says, ripping the fake copy. After that the girls were kicked out of the mansion with an envelope of cash that their aunt will be giving them monthly.

The girls struggled with the little amount of money their aunt gave them. They had to work and attend school for their senior year all the way to their sophomore year of college.

Their story now begins here.
