Chapter 19: I Will Be With You!
"Do you want another piece of cake?" asked Alec as he took a bite of his apple.
It has been a few days and he must say he had never been this happy in his life. His father had been silent, his mother had been very supportive and even in the school, no one created trouble for them.
Since the dragon was sucked in the blackhole no other creature had troubled him. Though he still reached that dimension when he closed his eyes, this time he just wandered around without getting disturbed by any.
It has been ages since he had this kind of peace. But what kept him happy was Jenny! She had changed his whole life. He had never been this happy before.
She studies with him, eats lunch, they talk during the bus and often end up spending most of the time talking with each other.
"No! I have already had enough. Derek, do you like to taste this one? I have often seen you eating chocolate muffins!" Alec turned to stare at the boy who was sitting on the other side.
From that day, they started sitting on the same seat during lunch and surprisingly everyone left the table except Darren.
Though he still did not talk to Alec and Jenny. He did not despise them and only concentrated on his game.
Alec even asked once why did you not leave like others when he just shrugged his shoulders and said other tables were noisy and he was not able to concentrate on his game.
He was going to play professionally after this year's exams so he did not want to waste time with friends.
Since he did not insult them Alec did not pursue the matter and forgot about his existence. Except the time when Jenny tries to be friendly with Darren.
At these times, Alec feels he should have scared him away too.
When Darren raised his head, the first thing he saw was the brooding eyes of Alec. Though he had observed that Alec was not like the rumors said, he was just an introverted boy who was possessive about the girl. Yet when he looked into his eyes, he still felt goosebumps.
It took him a few seconds to calm down as he shook his head.
"No! I have had my meal already!" once finish speaking, he turned to look at Alec whose face was relaxed and he took a sigh of relief.
He knew if he would accept the food from Jenny Alec would haunt him even in his dreams.
"Oh! Alright then! Alec, would you like to share the cake with me?" she blinked her eyes and asked him in a sweet voice and a silly grin appeared on his face.
"I would love to share everything with you, Jenny!"
"........" every time he said these kinds of words with such an innocent face and naive voice that her heart beat accelerated! If only he knew that he flirted so much with her everyday.
Her face turned red and she bowed her head with the excuse of cutting the muffin properly.
Passing half of it on his plate, she did not say a word and silently ate her piece.
"Jenny!"
He did not like when she suddenly turned silent. It keeps him on edge as if he had done something wrong, he did not know about it!
"Hmmm" she raised her head again only to see panic in his eyes and her eyes softened. He was just like a kid who wanted all the attention and when he did not get any, he looked like an abandoned puppy!
"Are you angry with me?" here it goes again! He asked this question every time she turned silent yet she only felt warm when he asked so as it showed how much her every reaction matters for him.
"No! Alec! I was just thinking about the quiz tomorrow. It is the biggest inter school competition and the winner would get a full scholarship.
I wonder if I will be able to win!" she took a deep sigh as she played with the boiled veggies with her fork and sighed.
"Of course, you will win! You have done so much hard work for it.
And I will treat you with muffins when you come back with the trophy!" he beamed as he rubbed her hands that were turning cold!
She smiled but then bit her lips as she looked at him with some hesitation,
"Is there something troubling you, Jenny?" He did not like the tension in her eyes. He only wanted to see her happy all this time. Yet he felt that she was too nervous and tensed about it.
She had told him once that she was not from an economically strong family and she needed this scholarship to continue her schooling.
From that day he was looking for part time work so that he could help her but whenever he goes for an interview, he gets rejected because of his appearance.
He felt like he was useless when he saw her worried again.
"Alec, if possible. Can you come with me to cheer me up. I am feeling too tense. If you would be there, I would feel better!" Alec blinked and looked at her big animated eyes with confusion. She was looking nervous but her eyes were full of expectation when she looked at him that warmed his heart. He felt like a surge of joy had covered every neutron of his body.
While everyone else felt that his presence made them anxious and scared, she would feel reassured with him. A smile instinctively bloomed on his lips and he nodded.
"Of course, I would come with you! Where will i go if not with you and as i said i have to treat you with muffins when you will win!"
