Chapter 70: Chapter 64: Midnight

Valerian

Valerian's training and combat instincts took over as he quickly assessed the situation. With the enemy now unarmed, he used the butt of the stolen gun to deliver a precise blow to the man's temple. The man crumpled to the ground, unconscious and defeated.

"Sunshine," Valerian screamed when he saw a bullet aimed at her. Before the bullet could hit her, Valerian managed to reach her and take the bullet himself. 

Valerian had used his body as a shield to protect Ana when the escape plan had gone awry. In doing so, he had absorbed a few bullets that had found their way to him. As the chaos subsided and they found a momentary respite from the firefight, Valerian realized the gravity of his own injuries.
