Chapter 44: Hate

Leo wakes me up from a deep slumber. I sigh as I rise to my feet.

"What?" Leo dragged me to my feet, as I demanded.

I hurried to the top of the stairs when Leo remarked, "There are some witches downstairs threatening Eric."

A man sternly commanded, "Eric, turn yourself in or we'll hurt the girl."

What more could you have done after you killed her? While I was hiding on the stairs, Eric snapped.

The stranger said, "Make it a permanent state," and Eric froze.

Leo crooned in my ear, "He doesn't have the magic to beat them.

Eric hissed, "You'd have to get through me," and the man grinned at the challenge. Eric was shot through the banister as I watched. I swerved around Eric's corpse and then sprinted to aid him.

I yelled "Eric," yanking him swiftly to his feet.
