Chapter 3: The supreme ruler
They stood up and walked towards the seer, the minutes they took to walk there seemed like hours to them with so many gleeful eyes fixated on them all through.
" The eldest one should come forward" the seer commanded.
Ji-woo walked slowly and stretched her hands to receive the candle with a deep bow.
She closed her eyes and tried to focus all her attention on the candle as her father had told them .
" When you lay hold of the candle, focus all your mind and attention on it while trying to put it on or off in your mind and you must do it with utmost concentration" Sangho had said to them a day before.
After minutes of trying to gather her thoughts and focus, the candle caught flame and everyone cheered, but she still needed to put it off .
Again she closed her eyes, repeated the same tactics she used and the candle light was put off.
It was now Ji-soo's turn, she received the candle with a deep bow, closed her eyes and used the same tactics her elder sister before her had used.
The candle was lit then she closed her eyes again and tried to put out the candle light but no matter how much she tried or focused the flame would not die down.
And after ten minutes of several failed attempts, the candle light would only flicker but would not go off.
Upon seeing this, the anticipating crowd began to murmur and the seer finally collected the candle from Ji-soo who was already covered in sweat and patted her.
" Well done" he said with a hint of sincerity in his voice.
" The Almighty has spoken and as we have all witnessed today, Ji-woo eldest daughter of supreme ruler Sangho has been chosen as the next supreme ruler of Sai".
The seer announced and the crowd with a standing ovation applauded heavily and bowed down in respect to Ji-woo.
This was immediately followed by different displays and celebratory performances by the people.
