Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Love, Family and Honor.

"Uzu no Kuni have always provided for our peoples, our enemies are many and envious. They threaten our borders and look for any weakness."

In the heart of the forest, under the shroud of night, a campfire crackled softly, its glow casting long, flickering shadows. To the left of the fire, three children with bright red hair sat on a half-cut tree trunk, their eyes wide with fascination. On the right, an old man—Ashina—occupied the other half of the trunk, his face illuminated by the fire as he shared the tales of their esteemed Uzumaki clan.

Ashina's voice, deep and resonant, carried the weight of history, "We trace our line back to the first appearance of the Ninshu! And our beloved sage of six paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Loyalty runs deep in the Uzumaki, it is in our blood, our traditions."

"And in battle," he added with a glint of pride in his eye, "our shinobi are the envy of the Elemental Nations!"

"No blade is swifter than ours," Ashina said, his voice full of conviction, "no stroke of pen smoother, no seal more potent. We were feared like no other."

As the tale reached its end, Ashina's voice grew softer, more reflective. "In the warring states period, when I was a child like you, I fought tirelessly. But thanks to our traditions, we were less scarred than other clans, and that unity led us to become a large, close-knit family."

A silence settled over the group, the only sound the gentle crackling of the fire and the whisper of the forest around them. Eichi, the youngest, with his wide, innocent eyes, broke the silence. "Ne, Otou-san, were you strong?"

Tajima, the eldest, smirked and teased his younger brother. "Otou-san is the Uzukage; he was obviously strong, Eichi."

Ashina chuckled, shaking his head with a fond smile. "Now, now, Tajima, that's no way to speak to your little brother. Be a little kinder."

Izuna, the middle child, added with a playful whine, "Yeah! You're always so mean to us, Tajima!"

Tajima sighed, his expression a mix of frustration and concern. "I will stop being mean when you two stop being fools, Eichi. And you, Izuna, your carefree attitude could get you killed one day."

Ashina's tone grew firmer. "Tajima, that's enough. They're still children. They deserve to enjoy their childhood before facing the harsh realities of being shinobi."

Tajima, though still visibly frustrated, nodded reluctantly. His younger brothers watched him, their expressions reflecting their confusion and concern. Eichi, in particular, had noticed the change in Tajima after his first mission. The stories of missions gone awry had left a profound mark on his brother, altering his demeanor from vibrant to reclusive.

Determined to lift the mood, Eichi spoke up, his voice filled with earnest conviction. "You forgot something important, Tajima!"

The family's gaze shifted to Eichi, their curiosity piqued. Tajima raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "And that 'something' is?"

Eichi took a deep breath, his small frame brimming with determination. "One of our family motto: Love! Don't forget to show love even after all that has happened to you! We still have each other—me, Izuna, and Ashina-Otou-san! We are one big family!"

A moment of profound silence followed Eichi's heartfelt words. Tajima, initially taken aback, huffed in acknowledgment. Ashina's laughter rang out, rich and hearty. "He bested you there, Tajima!" His laughter was a warm, reassuring sound that filled the clearing.

Once he had calmed down, Ashina looked at Eichi with a mix of pride and affection. "You're absolutely right, Eichi. We must adhere to our family motto, regardless of the trials we face."

Turning to Tajima, Ashina asked, "Care to remind us of the first part of our motto?"

Tajima, with a resigned but respectful nod, recited, "The Uzumaki clan follows a motto from ancient times, starting with Love." "For Love!"

Ashina nodded and turned to Izuna. "Family!" "...Family!"

Ashina then looked at Eichi, who, with a deep breath and eyes closed in concentration, completed the motto with heartfelt clarity. "...Honor." "Honor!"

"...and Honor!"

"Uzumaki Ichizoku Banzai!"

"Banzai!"

In the dense forest of Uzu no Kuni, an intense siege was underway against the shinobi village of Uzushiogakure no Sato. The village was fortified with a high wooden wall, and thousands of shinobi, their red hair visible even in the dim light, leapt over it to join the battle.

The defending forces had been greatly diminished from an initial 30,000 to around 23,000. The Uzumaki had used every tactic at their disposal—seals, traps, and strategic delays—to inflict heavy casualties on the invaders. The coalition's advance was slowed by these obstacles, and numerous skirmishes had further reduced their numbers. Despite their efforts, the attackers still outnumbered the defenders by a three-to-one margin.

Eichi, now 14, fought alongside his 17-year-old brother Tajima. Their resolve was palpable as they engaged in the fierce combat. "May the sun rise again for the Uzumaki clan!" Izuna, who was celebrating his 13th birthday, shouted as he leapt into the fray.

Eichi landed in the midst of the battle, immediately facing an Iwa-nin. The Iwa-nin, rare in this conflict, bore a chakra-enhanced metal guard on his forearm. Eichi's initial slash was blocked by the guard, and the Iwa-nin took advantage, swinging a tanto towards Eichi's jugular. Eichi ducked narrowly, the blade whistling past him.

Reacting quickly, Eichi performed a backflip to create distance. As he prepared for the next strike, a volley of kunai and shuriken flew toward him. He jumped to evade, and while in mid-air, began forming the seals for a Water Jutsu. However, the Iwa-nin was determined to prevent him from completing the technique. In the midst of his struggle, the Iwa-nin was struck by a barrage of shuriken from Izuna, who had been providing cover. The enemy stumbled, wounded and disoriented.

Eichi seized the opportunity, completing his Water Jutsu. A powerful jet of water surged toward the Iwa-nin, propelling him backwards and worsening his injuries. As the Iwa-nin crashed to the ground, Eichi glanced at his brother Izuna, who was engaged with another opponent. "Thanks, brother," Eichi muttered, grateful for the timely support.

Across the battlefield, similar scenes unfolded. The Uzumaki used their extensive array of tactics—particle bombs, explosive tags, high-ranked jutsu, and gravity seals—to counter the invaders. The battlefield was a chaotic mix of jutsu and weaponry, and the Uzumaki's strategic deployment by using separate cells of 5 to 10 squamates aimed to maximize damage while minimizing friendly fire. Despite their dwindling numbers and the fragmentation of their forces, the defenders held their ground with remarkable resilience.

By the sixth day of the siege, the defenders were facing severe attrition. Their numbers had decreased significantly, and the strain of prolonged combat was evident. The unity and determination of the Uzumaki remained steadfast, but the relentless pressure from the larger coalition force was pushing them to their limits.

AFTER THE BATTLE!

As Eichi stumbled into his room, he collapsed onto the floor, clutching his legs tightly and letting out a strained whine. The exhaustion and the weight of the day's battle overwhelmed him. The room, decorated in traditional Uzumaki style, offered little comfort as the reality of the day sank in.

Today's battle had been a pyrrhic victory. Although they had managed to push back the invaders, the cost was heavy. Of the 9,000 Uzumaki who had initially taken the fight to the coalition, only 7,000 remained. The Uzumaki had executed their plan with brutal efficiency. They had lured the enemy into a false sense of confidence, letting them believe that this assault would break the village. But the Uzumaki's determination was fierce, driven by a resolve to turn their last stand into a fearsome legend for their enemies.

Before the sixth day of the attack, the Uzumaki had uncovered the coalition's grim objective: their complete extermination. In response, Eichi's father, Ashina Uzumaki, had delivered a stirring address to rally his people.

"Uzu no Kuni has always stood strong," Ashina began, his voice carrying the weight of history and authority. "Our enemies are many and envious. They threaten our borders and seek any weakness. We trace our lineage back to the very dawn of Ninshu and our revered Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Loyalty runs deep in our veins—it is our blood, our tradition."

He paused, letting his words sink in. "Our shinobi are the envy of the Elemental Nations. No blade is swifter, no stroke of pen smoother, no seal more potent. We are feared for a reason."

Ashina's gaze hardened with resolve. "That fear has led us to this trial. Bishamonten, the God of War, is among us. Two great villages, with smaller allies and a contingent of Iwa-nin, have landed at Tsume Port. They seek our annihilation. We will not cower! Destiny calls, and we will make them bow to the might of the Uzumaki!"

From his vantage point atop a tall building, Ashina, clad in his battle armor and Uzuchio head protector, rallied his people. His voice, amplified by chakra, reverberated through the crowd. "Today, we face a formidable enemy. They are brave warriors, why? Because we, the Uzumaki clan, have defended these lands for thousands of years. I, Ashina Uzumaki, will not let anyone take everything from me without a price!"

The crowd erupted in cheers. "These warriors are brave because they have faced the Uzumaki and failed!" Ashina's voice thundered. "But now, the enemy is stronger, and it might be our end."

A somber hush fell over the crowd. Ashina's eyes softened with the gravity of their situation. "But let us not forget our ancestors who fought to protect us, the legacy they left us, and our Ninja way. Love, Family, and Honor!"

The crowd's spirit lifted once more. "Until our enemies are defeated, we march forward together. We prepare for death. Then! From the ashes, we shall arise!" Ashina and the crowd shouted in unison, their voices filled with grim determination.

That night, Eichi lay on the floor of his room, consumed by anger and grief. The battle had claimed almost all of his brothers—only two of the original four remained. The loss of his little brother Izuna, in particular, drove him to a deep-seated fury. His heart burned with hatred for Kirigakure, Iwagakure, and Kumogakure.

He vowed to himself amidst the darkness, swearing to hunt down every shinobi from those villages. He would fight until his hands were stained with their blood and he could no longer hold a sword. Even in the afterlife, he promised to continue his vendetta, battling every enemy he could find until the Shinigami claimed his soul.

For Eichi, the Red Head Shinigami was born that night, driven by a singular purpose: to exact vengeance for his fallen kin. The promise was clear—no matter the cost, he would see every enemy pay for their sins, driven by a hunger for blood that would never be quenched.
