Hahaoya still talking to her children gathered in the throne room, told them that the next phase of the ascension of Satoshi McCloud after succeeding in his first intervention, was to give him a realm and a disciple or disciples.
The duties that came with it would take his mind away from his revenge which he so desperately sought at the moment, as time passed while he carried out those duties given to him, he would eventually, thus allowing Alec McCloud to get his justice on his own.
With that mind frame, she sent Chiako to recall them saying that she wanted to speak with Satoshi McCloud on the next phase and it was mandatory for him to be present.
Chiako appearing before them relayed Hahaoya's message while reminding Annaisha that their mother hated to be kept waiting, Annaisha shuddered in fear knowing her mother's fierce temper. To speed things up, he graciously teleported them to the throne room.
Smiling Hahaoya welcomed Satoshi back to High Mountain, she told him that by saving himself successfully, he had passed the first test to become a god. He was now stomped, he was being tried to become a god?, It did not make any sense, though he held that thought in his throat (making sure to bite his tongue, the pain reminded him to keep his mouth shut and keep his emotions in check. He would observe their actions in order to find out what this was all about).
Conjuring up a wide map before them, Hahaoya and her companions began scouring the map for a virgin realm to assign to Satoshi McCloud as his domain.
A peculiarity on the map attracted Satoshi McCloud's attention, it was an abandoned desert land with a Castle in the middle of it. Bringing it to Hahaoya's attention, he wondered why nobody had taken that place.
Chiako told him that area of the map was one of the few areas designated as "No man's land"(Mujin no tochi). These locations were once inhabited by humans. Then a group of rogue Majin appeared in these lands demanding that the people who lived there swear their unwavering allegiance to them, no questions asked.
Of course, the people refused to cooperate, pitting their best Mages and adventurers against these monsters in a battle to decide their fates, only to lose. They would have been enslaved if not the Mages using their magic to create a blockade to hinder the Majin's advance and carve a path for all of them to escape. As a boon to aid the escape, the gods sent a sand storm to stall the Majin.
Since then after that, these places became collectively known as No man's land.
The Majin subsequently took ownership of these places for themselves, making it their abode, setting up dungeons that are filled with various monsters that constantly respawn as long as the being governing that dungeon still stood.
In total were 10 rogue Majin inhabiting No man's land meaning that there were ten dungeons with a single Majin governing a dungeon.
Note: Majin basically were formless in appearance(appearing as the five elements of Fire, Earth, Air, Water and Darkness) assuming a humanoid form and requiring human vessel to roam the world undetected.
Adventurers who risked going to No man's land to clear out the Majin in order to allow people come back in, were always reported Missing In Action upon their failure to return to home base.
Annaisha continuing Chiako's thought, said that the only reason why the Majin found it easy to take control of these territories was because they did not have a god to protect them in time of danger.
That statement prompted him to acquire the territory for himself in a split second decision just like his lodge, much to the surprise of those around him. Chiako being the god of trade and commerce frowned at Satoshi McCloud's request to take that territory for himself, saying it was not viable as nothing flourished there. He said that if Satoshi McCloud would leave that area be, he would give him a thriving city full of people, having lush greenery and a stable government. Hahaoya wanting to see how Satoshi McCloud would respond backed up Chiako telling him that that was she intended to give him since he was just starting as a new god.
Meanwhile, inside of her she was hoping he was going to rebel against her suggestion, showing the same fierce attitude he did when he demanded to save himself when she first met him courtesy of Annaisha. Answering her prayer, he refused saying he would take it
as he saw potential in it, plus he would not have lift a sword to do it.
Hence, he would go down there to deal with it once and for all before any other calamity arose to complicate matters more than they already were.
Kagami McCloud quickly stopped her father in his tracks, reminding him that he had only passed the trial necessary for him to become a god completing the first stage of his ascension to godhood. For the second stage, he would have to choose a domain or domains if he felt he could carry more than one. Note: As for she already shared in her progenitrix's domains
He could choose anything he wanted. be it:
1. Fire
2. Water
3. Air
4. Water
5. Light
6. Darkness
7. War
8. Wisdom/Strategy/Diplomacy
9. Prophecy
10. Healing
11. Time
12. Lightening/Storms
13. Winds/Clouds
14. Speed/Flight/Teleportation
15. Fate
etc.
Power was acquired by touching Mana stones in the shape of spheres mounted on tripods. Each stone holding a particular power
Red = Fire/War
Blue = Water
White = Air/Clouds
Green = Earth/Healing
Yellow = Lightening/Light
Dark Blue = Knowledge, Wisdom, Strategy Diplomacy
Gold = Time/Fate
Black = Darkness
Long story short, he chose all of them, thus making sure he shared in all their domains, something Hahaoya ensured by telepathically telling him to try everything. She did this to ensure that she would be able to monitor his activities
All of these domains combined to give him the title of Mankind, similar to Annaisha. His chosen familiars were a Phoenix to represent his rebirth/evolution from mortal to god. He chose a Tiger known as a representation of power and strength as bane of evil.
For the choice of a godly weapon which he forged himself using Crimson Ore(Hihi'irokane), he chose a longsword having a gold and silver hilt with the drawing of a dragon emblazoned on it. Satisfied, he placed his new weapon in it's sheath.
Finally, he was ready to go down to No man's land. This time neither Annaisha nor Kagami McCloud would accompany him on this journey, this was his personal choice.
He wanted to do this one alone, after all, they would eventually stop babysitting him as a god one day; so why not take that leap of faith doing the unthinkable like he had done before, he was sure that it was going to be a success.
Thus, it was time to get down to business, however, it did not mean he could not put on a good show for his audience while at it. Putting on a serious expression on his face, he folded his hands behind his back walking with a confident air/gait in his steps, he made his way to the edge of the mountain his targeted audience falling into marching steps behind him. Then to their shock he cast himself off the mountain still holding that pose.
His rapid descent was accompanied by dark clouds, rain, thunder and lightening. His voice boomed across the landscape as he spoke in a commanding tone...
"I, Satoshi McCloud, as the Protector of Humanity; claim this territory known as No man's land, for myself!. Let all those who dare to lay claim to this land reveal themselves!!".
The Majin were all too eager to answer his call curious to see who had a death wish by daring to summon them like common servants when they were the masters, they appeared before him as he finished speaking, ready to strike him down for his insolence.
He calmly told his accousters to leave the land and allow the human inhabitants return to their homes since it was now under his authority as per the command of the mother goddess Hahaoya and council of High Mountain, else, there would be severe consequences.
Ryoto informed him that these creatures were barbaric by nature even if they were once human, therefore, it was better for him show his power to them rather than simply talking, seeing that they would only submit to a force greater than them in power.
Assuming a sinister look on his face, he began to quickly drain them of their power, watching gleefully as they slowly turned to dust admist terrifying screams of agony as their powers flowed from them to him in waves.
Annaisha and Kagami McCloud are appalled by what they see because to them, a true god should protect those around him or her no matter what or who they are, Ryoto enjoys what he sees i.e. the demonstration of what a true god should be; a symbol of fear and power as to him that combination begets reverence from mortals which he especially revels in.
The others sans Hahaoya are simply on the fence in their views, mostly opting for the idea that these creatures were no longer human or to have them put out of their lingering eternal misery thus ending their suffering.
Yume, god of sleep, dreams and illusions, enters the conversation by suddenly appearing in the throne room. He greeted his mom warmly with a kiss on the cheek followed by a warm affectionate embrace, before sitting on his throne.
He informed his siblings that their unnecessary squabbling about the right and wrong of what the new god was doing had interrupted his work of crafting dreams and nightmares for mortals. He told them that Satoshi McCloud was only using an illusion to show the Majin what would happen if they fought against him(intimidation, a useful tactic to end a fight quickly if you did not want to spill blood, in his opinion).
Annaisha and Kagami expressed concern to Mother Hahaoya that Satoshi McCloud was going to far, saying that there was a limit punishment someone could take before they broke down, even if they were immortal.
Smiling, Hahaoya acknowledged that they were right and his anger was reminiscent of his episode in the hospital on Earth when he found out that someone tried to kill him which was an indication to her that his emotions were in place and he could feel.
She informed them that she had an ace off her sleeve that would shock him, thus bringing him back to his senses. With that she left the throne room to prepare.
