Chapter 24: Yeti
"Alright, these few bits should be enough. Let's go ba–"
*ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHRRRR!!!*
Helena's words were interrupted by a loud roar.
Everyone hurriedly looked at the direction where the loud sound came from.
"A..AAAHHHHH!!!!"
Some of the newly promoted archers directly screamed and freaked out in fear.
"W..What the hell is that thing?"
Even Helena herself was a bit intimidated by the large creature.
Fortunately, after a few moments of confusion, Helena managed to get herself together and issued an order.
"Calm down! Everyone, don't panic! assume your position! We should be able to handle this as long as we do our respective roles!"
Hearing their captain's commands, the veteran squad leaders quickly snapped out of their momentary fear.
They quickly sprinted in front of the archers and assumed their positions beside their captain.
Upon seeing the dependable backs of their seniors, the newly promoted archers gradually calmed down.
They assumed different positions in order to bombard the large creature with arrows.
After everyone calmed down, they focused their sights on the creature. Their hairs once again stood on end as they couldn't believe what they were seeing.
The creature is around 4 meters tall, has big bulging muscles way larger and toned compared to those of the trolls, and it has a white fur.
Its form looks like a huge ape but it was standing upright like a human.
"A Yeti!"
Eden exclaimed upon recognizing the creature.
"That's a…Yeti?"
Helena couldn't believe it, she and Adelaine only heard of such creatures in story books.
But now, she was about to fight one.
An unsettling thing happened.
Upon hearing that the humans recognized what it is,
The yeti's blue eyes scanned the crowd.
It determined that only 7 people were a threat to it among all of the humans here.
Apparently, It can sense which ones are weak and which ones are strong!
Seeing that it has a high chance of winning, a very wide and creepy smile appeared on the yeti's face.
The creepy smile had an effect towards the new archers and they began to lose their composure again.
"Don't be scared! It's just an oversized monkey! We can take it down as long as we fight according to our preparations!"
Helena sensed the low morale of her squad after being creeped out so she quickly tried to help them snap out of their fear.
"Alex, if you get a chance, quickly try to run towards the entrance of the gate and rally all the warriors."
"We shall surround this creature with all of our forces."
After a few moments of staring at each other, Helena broke the silence.
"Haaaaahh!! Die! You overgrown ape!!"
She charged towards the yeti and tried to hit it with a quick forward slash.
The yeti was not as fast as Helena but it was powerful.
Helena's strike left a shallow cut on the creature's legs. However, she was also struck by a punch from the yeti.
Fortunately, she was able to block it with her shield.
Helena was sent sliding back a few meters after getting hit by a single punch from the yeti.
After feeling the strength of the creature, Helena felt that they had a fair chance of beating it so she didn't order the retreat.
"Everyone, I have gauged the power of this thing! Although it is indeed stronger than us humans, it is nothing I can't handle."
"Archers! Just focus on shooting arrows! Me, together with the warriors should be able to hold this thing in place."
It seemed to understand what Helena said as it roared in rage and charged at Helena
This puny human thinks she could win? Fat chance!
"K...Kuhhhh...Quick Alex! The exit is open! call everyone in!"
Even though she has her hands full against the onslaught of punches from the yeti, Helena still managed to find an opening for Alex to exploit.
Alex sprinted as fast as he could.
"Haahh…Haahh… Everyone! Quick, go inside, we encountered a yeti! Captain and the others need help!"
Upon reaching the exit of the cave, Alexander briefly explained the situation to the newly promoted warriors.
A yeti!
*gulp*
The new warriors got nervous upon hearing that they will fight a yeti. Still, they were warriors, they had to help their comrades.
Although scared, they tried to suppress their fear and follow Alex inside the cave.
Inside the ice cave.
"Horrraaaahhhh!!"
Helena was not one to be outdone. Although she was losing ground against the yeti, she was still able to fight back with her own slashes while blocking the punches of the yeti!
Her brave spirit gave chance to the other squad leaders and the archers to land small hits against the fierce creature.
Albeit slowly, they were surely dealing damage to it.
"Captain!!"
Helena finally couldn't hold on and was sent flying by a punch from the yeti.
"K...Kuhhh...You damned monkey..."
Her back slammed into the wall and she struggled to get up.
The squad leaders immediately assumed her position and tanked the hits for the archers.
Even though they were sent flying backwards after every hit, they bought precious time for Helena to get up.
Although she was down, Helena was still staring daggers at the yeti. Her eyes blazed with fighting spirit.
She quickly took out two lesser health potions and drank them.
10 seconds later, she was ready to fight again.
At the same time, reinforcements arrived.
