Dice in almost every universe is used, the concept of chance is a phenomenon that races across existence would be intrigued by. Risk is something that occurs in almost everyday life, and people would be enticed to now gain some form of reward from taking risks. This would be a concept that led to the destruction of a society. The concepts of the 7 deadly sins were something that held a tight grasp in this universe's many races, it was something that led to many communities to ruin or to reign for centuries. The concept of greed being one of the worst and infamous for creating the culling and extinction of countries and kingdoms.
One of the artefacts that used the power of greed was this die. This die had the ability to change the number of sides it possessed and had seemed to built of a wooden material but had the weight of steel. When rolled, it would rock the earth around it and could lead to fortune or mass extinction of those around it.
Many held on to this die, but one of these people was a beggar that would climb his way to the top with complete natural luck and the immense greed that the artefact gave him. How the die worked was that a deal between the wielder of the die and the opposition. Both deals must have an equal value to both individuals, be it emotional, physical or intellectual. This beggar would manage to luck his way into taking all the money and power from the deals. The money allow him to slowly build his own city, "The house of greed" where gambling and risk were key and everyone had equal opportunity and cheating and fraud was a crime worthy of execution.
It was a powerful city close to becoming a country, with a military strength that could rival the nearest country's emperor. Unfortunately, war was not something this once beggar was interested, instead, the luck of the die was something that intrigued him more. As such, when he went into conflict with said emperor, he wanted it to end with the throw of a die. Where if one or the other lost, all power and money would be transferred to the winner. The beggar never knew loss when it comes to gambling, and when it truly came down to it, he lost. And he felt into denial, refusing to surrender all he possessed. As such, leading to the die punishing the beggar though entrapping him in a mental cage of constant losses, while his physical body slowly rotted and naturally wandered until his sad and unfortunate end.
This die was so dangerous that is caused a deal that left an entire continent into ruin, incapable of allowing life. Unfortunately, it also resulted in catastrophic environmental destruction that led to the regression of intelligent life in this planet.
I now possess the die as a sort of warning to many gods, that incessant greed would only result in pain and destruction.
