Chapter 44: Forty Three (I)

  The other wolf got back to his feet giving a shake before baring his teeth at Ethan and then darted off into the woods away from them. Two of ththeseroups took off after the wolf while Paul trotted over to Ethan catching the smell of blood and his eyes shifted to the dark matted area of his friend's fur.

  Paul shifted just as did the others and they checked the other wolves' grim looks coming to their faces.

Paul turned back to Ethan who shifted himself one hand going to his side where blood trickled through his fingers to the ground.

"Is Alpha Female Kate all right?" Ethan gritted out pain etched on his face.

  Paul shifted his gaze to the other three who were checking over a hysterical Kate, and one glanced over giving him a single nod having heard Ethan's question.

"She is fine," Paul confirmed turning back to Ethan. "But her being here didn't help you."
