Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Secretly Crushing On Him
Leroy's POV
"Janet, I swear through the moon goddess, if you don't slow this car down right now, I'm going to kick you out of the car," I screamed at Janet, who seemed not to be disturbed by my unceasing screaming.
From Monday to Friday, I usually supervise the guards who watch over the borders that lead to the Moonstone Pack and that of the Forest, which is also a passageway for those who would want to enter the pack secretly without being noticed.
Since we had no enemies, the only people we had to be careful about were the rogues, because sometimes they all gather together in one place until they become a very large population, and the strongest among them all becomes their leader.
At a given time, when their population becomes bigger and stronger, they look for a pack in which the members aren't strong enough and invade it.
Afterwards, they turn the pack members into their slaves.
Due to this reason, the Alpha of every pack makes sure that every passageway leading to his pack is guarded twenty-four hours on twenty-four and seven days on seven in order to avoid the invasion of rogues and rival packs.
It's my duty to supervise the guards from Monday to Friday, but on Saturday and Sundays, someone else replaces me while I stay in the palace.
Normally I'm supposed to be at the palace since it's a Saturday, but the Alpha had sent me to go and inform the guards and the supervisors to be very vigilant in their posts because of the traits of the Alpha of Oz pack, and no one knew when he could attack since the Alpha had refused to hand me and Janet over to him.
Before leaving, Janet had asked to follow me, but I refused. After many unceasing insistences, I allowed her to follow me.
While returning, she started again with her disturbance, asking me to allow her to drive.
At first, I had refused, but due to her unceasing insistence, I had no choice but to allow her to drive since I knew that she's a girl and she won't drive recklessly, but I was wrong; she drives more recklessly than boys, and if I don't do something, she's surely going to damage my car or scratch it somewhere.
"Janet!" I shouted her name once again while fuming in anger.
"What Leroy? Why are you panicking like a lady?" She asked me while slowing down.
"Janet, can you please park the car?" I asked while looking at her angrily.
"Why?" She asked me while concentrating on the steering.
"Because I want to take over the steering," I said to her, and immediately she glared at me before returning to the road.
"No, I'm not parking," she said to me while ignoring my angry stare.
"Janet!!" I screamed her name once again.
"If you scream my name again like that, I'm going to speed up," she said to me while focusing on the steering, and immediately my jaw dropped in surprise.
"What audacity?" I muttered to myself.
"At least you are aware that this is the last time you are ever going to drive my car again." I asked her, and immediately she nodded positively.
"At least I drove it once," she said to me while nodding to the rhythm of the music that was playing in the car.
With that, I rolled my eyes angrily at her before turning my gaze away.
"Leroy, can I ask you a question?" She asked me after some minutes of silence, but I snubbed her while feigning to be angry.
When she noticed that I wasn't going to reply, she matched the brake in the middle of the road.
"What? What Janet?" I asked her while panting heavily.
"I thought you weren't hearing anymore," she said to me before speeding up.
"Can I ask the question now?" She asked me while turning her gaze toward me.
"What is your question, Janet?" I asked her without looking at her.
"Actually, it's not a question; there's something I wanted to discuss with you," she said to me.
"Go on, Janet, I'm listening to you," I said to her while feigning to be angry.
"I think the Alpha is in love with me," she said to me, and immediately I turned my gaze towards her.
"And what makes you think that he's in love with you? Is it because he refused to hand you over to Tony?" I asked her with an inquisitive look.
"Of course, everybody can do that," she said to me.
"Then what makes you think that he's in love with you?" I asked her again.
Immediately I asked her the question again, and she looked at me while chuckling.
"Janet, you know well that I hate suspense. Are you going to talk to me or are you going to keep on chuckling like a teenage girl who fell in love for the first time?" I asked her while avoiding the urge to read her heart because I knew well that she hated it when I did it, and I would be invading her privacy by doing it.
"He nearly kissed me, only that Daisy interrupted us," she said to me while grinning ear to ear, and immediately I shook my head in disbelief.
"Is that the reason why you are smiling like that?" I asked her, and immediately she frowned at me.
"Can't you be happy for me?" She asked me while feigning to be angry.
"And what makes you think that I'm not happy for you?" I asked her while raising my hands in the air, and immediately a warm smile hovered all over her face.
"Before you start blushing like a naughty teenager, I want you to give me a sincere response to the question I'm about to ask you," I said to her, and immediately she nodded in agreement.
"Are you ready to fall in love?" I asked her with an inquisitive look.
"To be sincere, Leroy falling in love was never on my agenda, but I don't know why my heart keeps on betraying me whenever I'm close to him," she said while focusing on the steering.
"I have known Tyler for a very long time, and I can bet that he's a very good person, but mind you, being his mate means that you will become the Luna of the Moonstone Pack. Are you ready to ensure all the responsibilities attached to being a Luna?" I asked her inquisitively.
"That time hasn't come yet; when it does, I will know what to do," she said to me while focusing on the steering.
"I think you are right, Janet; by the way, I have a secret I want to share with you too," I said to her, and immediately she furrowed her brows at me.
"Ok, I'm all ears," she replied while focusing on the steering.
"Daisy and I are dating too, but the Alpha isn't aware of it," I said to her, and immediately her jaw dropped in surprise.
"No need to panic; since the Alpha is planning on dating my younger sister, I'm going to announce to him that I'm dating his sister too," I said to her while grinning ear to ear.
