Chapter 118: The Edge of the Palanquin

Prince Qui should be celebrating and welcoming his father. After all, he had just raced almost half the Heping's length just to get to the wall. He could only imagine how dirty he looked, coming from training, a brawl, and the running on top of all that. His own father did not even recognize him until he shouted.

"Father, father!" he waved his hands wildly and broke away from the line of people that had gathered on the sides, throwing flowers and rice grains on the path of the soldiers' way.

"Qui!" his father beamed. He reached for his son but Prince Qui stepped away. He did not want to get on a horse today.

"I don't want to ride," he said. "I want to walk."

"Alright," said his father cheerily and continued to wave to the people. Then to guard at his side, "Try to keep an eye on him, would you?"
