Chapter 46: 46

" FORCE!" An admiral yelled to the ninjas in his boat and they paddled harder to reach the shore which luckily was empty, "I want 3 scout teams to advance while the rest of you go set up camp!" Yui yelled to his battalion who immediately left as disciplined ninjas.

They landed off the coast of Tanigakure, the country that lay between Sunagakure and Konoha and was clearly in a war zone and I very much doubt that even if they wanted to, they couldn't prevent our military presence in their country.

The ships unloaded the troops for the rest of the entire afternoon, as soon as a huge encampment containing 10,000 ninjas divided into 20 sessions formed, a constant movement took place in the encampment.

"So they really came." Away from the camp a Suna ninja said while looking through his telescope not to use any ninjutsu and be detected, he was an unlucky one sent to be a shore scout and report what he could of the invading force.

"You know, it really sucks dealing with you guys but I don't have anything better to do." A voice came from behind him making him break out in a cold sweat and the ninja tried to turn around and attack what was on his back but Yui simply grabbed his arm as he yawned, "Good night." She said before punching the ninja in the face, knocking him out and putting him in the back.

"Let's see, that was the 26th already." She muttered and prepared to take her new prisoner to the interrogation room but she felt another being enter her detection field and quickly approach, "This is...." She muttered and gave a warm smile as she noticed who it was .

Moments later a figure jumped out of the trees on the shore and landed in front of him, "It's been some time Sakumo-sensei." She said with a smile and the figure stood up revealing it to be Sakumo who also smiled warmly upon seeing Yui, "It's been a while my idiot disciple."

A few moments later.

Yui threw the scout ninja she captured to the ground and pulled a red cloth from under her clothes before stretching it out on the ground, Sakumo walked over as well and took a picnic basket out of her bag and the two sat down.

"What did you bring?" Yui asked as she tried to hold the babysitter from her mouth as she smelled the snacks, "Hungry as usual hahaha." Sakumo laughed at her disciple's reaction to smelling her snacks.

He reached into the basket and pulled out two hot sandwiches and handed one to Yui who took a sniff for poison before taking a big bite, "Delicious!" She squealed in satisfaction as she made a face of happiness taking another laugh from Sakumo, who she started to eat too.

They continued eating for a while in silence as if enjoying and reminiscing about the old peaceful times, but at some point they finished eating and stared at each other with a sad look in their eyes.

" Yui, I…." Sakumo was about to explain his purpose for coming here but Yui held up his hand and stopped him midway, "I'm sorry sensei, but I have a duty to the 10,000 lives on the coast and I will not abandon them." She said in a voice full of sadness to Sakumo who was also paralyzed feeling one of his last hopes to save his disciple was dying.

"You are sure, you will have to fight the world for that choice." He said with a very depressed face and Yui who was also with a depressed face forced a smile before replying, "Yes." Her low voice rang in place and they were both silent for a moment.

By some fluke of fate the sky turned cloudy and started to drizzle little drops of water over them both, "Well I'm on my way, I hope my idiot disciple survives." He said and got up and started walking.

However before Sakumo could pull away properly he felt two small arms enfold him in a hug as someone sniffled and cried into his back, "Stay just a little while longer is it okay?" Yui said as she cried on Sakumo's back.

The two saw each other in a very special way that would make anyone wonder why they would become enemies, for Sakumo Yui is not only his favorite disciple but also his daughter after Kakashi, he has spent years caring for and training her every year. days and at some point he ended up clinging to her in a fatherly way.

As for Yui, it was much more special, Sakumo at some point represented for her the only moment of peace she could have amidst her fears about the future, he was the only one she could trust almost completely and not feel betrayed. For her he was more than just a teacher, a friend, he was like a father who prepared her for the world.

(Sad background music.)

Sakumo, feeling her disciple's tears, lifted her arms to hug her but stopped midway and just patted her head, "I'm not worthy of all this love." He thought and a bitter taste rose in his mouth, he felt his heart ache for having told everything that his disciple had entrusted him to the village but he just bore it silently as he would never betray his home.

The rain continued to fall for a while before Yui released Sakumo and ran a bit to get away before looking back and giving his master a smile as if it was the last time he would see him, "Goodbye, Sakumo-sensei." She said and paused for a moment before continuing.

"The next time we meet we will be enemies."
