Chapter 8: Discovering Dark Magic - 6
(Author's Note: I have decided to combine Holy and light magic into just Holy magic, magic that uses the power of primordial light to destroy and heal.)
The next day, he found out that he wasn't going to be able to spend that much time in the forest anymore as he had been volunteered for cooking duty with Raia.
When they got into the kitchen, Taiga was disgusted with what he saw, he couldn't believe that the food that he had been eating for the past 10 years came from such a dirty kitchen. There were flies everywhere, mold on every wall and the ceiling, and saw that the slop that he had been eating for the past 10 years was in a large cauldron that probably had some soup in it that was more than 20 year old in it!
He immediately got to work, he used air and water magic to power-wash the walls, he used fire magic and completely incinerated every insect in the vicinity, and then dumped the disgusting soup down the drain.
Not many people knew this, but back on earth, he had been a world famous 3-star Michelin Star chef, an identity that he used that helped him kill multiple world leaders through poisoning. Even though this identity was fabricated, he had actually gained the skill of a real Michelin Star chef and had gained bona fide cooking skills so that he could blend into his cover seamlessly.
He immediately started preparing the ingredients for a beef stew, with Raia watching me in wonder.
"Wow! Brother you are amazing, when did you learn how to cook like that!"
He had already finished preparing all of the ingredients and in less than 30 minutes, had a beef stew that was capable of being put in front of the king.
After he served the stew, he hurriedly went into the forest again, as he had made up my mind to learn dark magic today.
He had already tried imagining many different scientific processes that he thought could be dark magic in my hands, but the magic that resulted from it was always a subclass of one of the other 4 elements of magic.
Today, he was going to try something different, he was just going to try and form his pure mana freely in his hand, as he had a great affinity towards dark magic, he came to the conclusion that his pure mana was also dark magic.
When he pushed the mana out of my body and into his hand, he was astounded! What appeared was a miniature black hole that was tying to devour everything close to it.
He came to an epiphany and came to the understanding that his dark magic was magic that devoured. It was different from the other demon kings as they had had magic that corrupted, magic that brought out your deepest darkest fears, magic that controlled minds, and magic that made people give into their desires.
Most scholars in the nation had already came to realize that dark magic was special to the person wielding it as they found out that a dark magician had powers that were shaped by the wielder's soul.
"Mmm, so my soul wants to devour, that makes a lot of sense!"
He immediately started working with it, making the black hole smaller, and then bigger. He watched as it ate everything in its path, leaving not a speck of it behind. He tried combining it with each of the 4 core elements of magic.
With fire, the dark magic created a black eternal flame, that burned mana, not fuel, and could only be put out by suffocating the mana from it, so as long as the caster provided mana, or if there was enough mana in its surroundings, it could burn forever.
Combined with water and air, it created a purple lightning, that through testing, Taiga conjectured had more than 10 times regular lightning's power.
Finally, even though he tried combining it with earth magic, nothing happened.
"I guess my dark magic isn't that versatile" lamented Taiga.
"Too bad, why is it that it can only be used to destroy, kinda worthless right now." he said as his fighting skills had already made him stronger than most people in this world. It could really be only used as a final trump card, as using it without careful though and without proper control could lead to the destruction of the world.
He then went back to training.
By the time he reached 11 years old, he had become proficient in all types of magic and was able to use his hidden arts up to the 4th form. In the middle of the year, he found a surprise discovery.
Taiga had been experimenting with combining the parts of his magic, and when he combined all four of the pure elements together, he created holy magic. He was ecstatic at this discovery, as it now meant that he could now hide his identity as the upcoming demon king more easily. This was because most people in this world accepted the fact that demon kings can't use holy magic, although this had never been proved.
'It just showed how ignorant people truly are' thought Taiga.
He experimented with it and found that he could only heal with his form of holy magic, so it was also as useless as his dark magic, as his resilience skill already made it so that he wasn't easily injured.
'I guess it's time to deal with the pest that has been watching me for the past year' thought Taiga.
It had been about a year ago when he realized that somebody was watching his training. He had sensed their steps through the vibrations they made through the ground, so every-time he trained with dark magic, or with special magic that he made himself, he had used the illusion magic that he had created at age 8 to make it seem as if he were practicing regular magic.
He had sensed the shape of the person's body through the vibrations and realized it was somebody he had met before.
He made a fireball in his hand and said
"Come out and ask the question that is burning in the back of your mind"
The little elf girl that he had saved in the shrine cautiously walked out of the shadows and approached him.
"How did you sense my presence" she asked surprised.
She had already figured out that he was blind, so she thought 'He could he have heard me move' as she couldn't figure out any other way that he would have noticed her.
"Out with it"
"Please teach me how to fight!"
Taiga smirked "A noble elf is asking a lowly degenerate human to teach them how to fight?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Tell me why you wan't to gain power, and judging from your answer, I will teach you."
Even though she thought that humans were disgusting, she had seen the boy's power herself and knew that he had the abilities to teach her so she didn't complain.
"I want power because I was forced to be the sacrifice as I was the weakest in my village. After you saved me, I was banished from the village, seen as a good for nothing girl. I need more power if I even want a chance of joining another village lest I be a loner for life."
Judging by her looks, Taiga could tell that even thought the little girl looked about the same age as him, she was probably much older, as elves grew at a really slow rate. She was probably somewhere between 25-35 years old.
"You are much older than me, are you sure that you are willing to bow your head down to a little boy" he asked.
"I will do anything for power," she declared.
Smiling, Taiga thought 'looks like I got my first disciple'.
