The next day, Viel decided to go to the Stronghold of Norria.
His objective was to ask them if they would let him enter one of their dungeons, just like Lux entered the Orc's one in the original story.
If they denied his request or showed an unpleasant reaction, he could just use the Blessing of the OGH [???] to make them agree.
He didn't need the help of his little brother of the Goldenslayer party, as after he upgraded his underlings his strength was enough.
He rode his trusted mount Flasty and headed to the Stronghold of Norria.
It should have been easy, but as Viel expected, Cadmus, the Draconic Kobold, descended from the sky.
"I have been waiting for you Half-Elf." Cadmus said.
"Same for me. Couldn't help but get preoccupied for you." Viel replied.
Cadmus got incredibly angry after hearing Viel's comment. You could even see a vein pulsating in his forehead.
"Are you mocking me?!" Cadmus asked angrily.
"No, just stating facts." Viel said. "That aside, didn't you sign a non-aggression treaty with the dwarves?"
"Yes, that's true. But as I can see, you are not one." Cadmus answered.
"Fair."
Viel could show him the knighthood emblem and wait for the Riders of Norria, but he decided to fight.
Then, he could show the Riders that he was not a pushover and that he was deserving of their help and the title.
Cadmus was a Rank 5 Alpha Monster, but not a very strong one. if he remembers correctly, he recently advanced to Rank 5. So even if he wouldn't be able to kill him, he would be able to defeat him.
Viel rapidly summoned Ferto, Bael, Jör and Indra, with whom he fused.
Suddenly sensing two Rank 4 and one Rank 3 presence, Cadmus let his guard down. It was impossible for them to harm him.
Knowing that an easy-to-win battle was about to commence, Cadmus jumped and attacked Viel.
Quickly, Ferto positioned himself between Cadmus and his master and cast Arcane Barrier [Ex].
CLANG!!
Ferto was pushed back, but no damage could be seen on his shield.
Out of nowhere, a big serpent appeared before Cadmus and expelled a green gas from its mouth. Seeing its colour, Cadmus didn't risk it and stopped breathing
Left with no vision, he couldn't defend himself from the liquid shot by Jör to his face right before becoming invisible again.
Posion entered his mouth and he quickly spat it out, but traces of it remained in his mouth. Cadmus could feel the interior of his mouth burning as if he drank acid.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Ferto charged towards Cadmus using Shield Charge. Cadmus used his dragon wings to defend against it, leaving his back unprotected.
Bael appeared behind him and attacked with Blood Moon. The continuous attacks of Bael, due to his skills, were sapping Cadmus of his strength.
Casmus went to attack Bael, but then Ferto used that opportunity to attack and used Inferno Slam [Ex]. Hitting Cadmus and throwing him to the floor.
Cadmus couldn't believe what was happening. Even though due to the difference in their stats his enemies couldn't deal a lot of damage to him, their constant attacks were leaving him helpless.
When he was about to get up and gain an advantage by flying, a serpent appeared beside him and bit his neck. In the beginning, he thought it wouldn't be able to damage him. His scales were very thought and the serpent only had the strength of a Rank 4 Monster.
But when Jör bit him, thanks to the Serpentine Venomguards made by Randolph and Jör's skills, his fangs easily pierced his scales and infused him with deathly venom and poison.
It wouldn't kill him, yes. But it will leave him unable to fight and only, with difficulty, defend.
In a last attempt to make his travel and wounds fruitful, he lunged toward Viel intending to kill him with his claws.
But Viel wasn't totally helpless. When the claws were about to rip his face off, he defended himself with his arms.
When the claws touched his arms, they bounced back with a 'clank' sound.
Viel arms were clad in a metallic-looking hide. He was able to undergo a partial transformation with the Ironclad Rhino Blood Tattoo.
When Cadmus was left speechless in the air, a sword came from behind him and pierced him in the back. But his heart was left untouched.
Viel ordered him summons to not kill him and only left him incapable of fighting.
Meanwhile, the sound of hooves was heard in the distance. Six dwarves riding on goats appeared.
When Cadmus saw them, he roared and his eyes turned red. He used the Berserk skill.
"What are you doing?!" The Captain of the Riders asked.
"Do not interfere, dwarves. I will kill him no matter what!" Cadmus shouted.
"Are you thinking about breaking our agreement so soon?!" The Dwarf Captain said.
"I am not bearing any agreement. He is a dammed Half-Elf."
"He may be a Half-Elf, but he is one of us. The king has appointed him as an honorary knight of the kingdom of Gweliven."
"Do you think I am stupid!" Cadmus roared. "He is not even a dwarf, less a knight of your kingdom."
"Boy, take out the medal you received from his majesty." The Dwarf Captain stated.
Viel took out the medal and showed it to Cadmus.
Cadmus was left speechless.
"You may want to still try to kill him, but you will be breaking the agreement and starting a war. Also, I don't think you will be able to leave here alive after all the wounds you have right now."
What the Dwarf Captain said was true. Not only was Cadmus heavily wounded, but he was also weakened due to Bael and Jör.
Cadmus turned to Viel, prompting the dwarves to take out their weapons.
"You are lucky. The next time we meet you won't make it out alive." Cadmus said.
"If I were you, I would be pretty thankful for not having died today." Viel replied.
Cadmus wanted to rip his head off, but he could not afford it right now.
