Chapter 32: Strolling the Grunt's Dormitory

As the door of our dormitory room slid open with a soft hydraulic sound, we stepped out into what I assumed to be the main corridor of our dormitory. I took a good look at the interior. Much like our room, it was a dull gray, matte metallic structure reminiscent of an industrial plant. Despite its stark appearance, it was clean and orderly, devoid of any grime, filth, or rust one might expect from an industrial facility.

The corridor stretched out in front of us, long and straight like the hallway of a hotel, lacking any warmth or charm. The flooring, both in the corridor and our room, was a dark gray epoxy-coated concrete—a simple, polished surface that felt cold under my bare feet.
