Meiying expressed her sincere gratitude to Chenwei for giving her a ride home before gracefully stepping out of his car. However, her surprise escalated when he also got out and mentioned his intention to see Xuejian.
"Why?" she almost asked defensively, her voice tinged with curiosity.
She dreaded the possibility of history repeating itself, fearing that the bond between these two individuals would grow stronger again, especially since they were once best friends in her past life.
In her past life, the revelation that Chenwei and her ex-husband had formed a close friendship caught her off-guard. Whenever Chenwei mentioned meeting with Xuejian, she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable because It became apparent to her that Chenwei took great pleasure in boasting about their relationship, even to Xuejian, her ex-husband.
When she confronted him about it, he admitted it was his way of seeking revenge, making Xuejian regret his mistreatment of her and losing her. Despite being friends, Chenwei saw it as an avenue for retaliation for her.
"I need to talk to him," Chenwei declared.
Curiosity piqued, she inquired, "About what?"
Chenwei offered a warm smile as he replied, "I won't say anything that would jeopardize your marriage."
"That's not what I..." Her voice trailed off as he approached, his hand gently caressing her hair.
Her eyes locked with his, he smiled at her warmly revealing the unspoken desire for her trust to him. She reciprocated his smile, relishing the feeling of being cared for once again.
Their moment, however, was abruptly interrupted by the blinding headlights of an approaching car. They instinctively turned away and distanced themselves from each other.
The car came to a halt in front of them, and its owner stepped out, standing before them. Meiying's anger returned as she glared at Xuejian, who seemed unfazed by her intense expression.
"Why did you leave the hospital?" he calmly inquired.
"Why wouldn't I?" she scoffed, her annoyance evident.
Chenwei, observing the situation from the sidelines, knew where this was headed. "Xuejian, we need to talk."
Xuejian finally acknowledged his presence, his tone seemingly indifferent. With a raised eyebrow, he questioned, "What do you want?"
Chenwei responded, "Just a few minutes of your time."
"Is it important?" Xuejian asked, his interest piqued.
"It concerns your wife," Chenwei revealed.
Meiying's eyes widened in disbelief. Not again. It was clear to her that in her past life, Chenwei had initiated a meeting with Xuejian for the sole purpose of taunting Xuejian for her. Who does that?, that was being so childish although that's one of the reason that she fell in love with him? Yet, against all odds, instead of taunting him, they had become unlikely friends which pissed her off. Meiying tried as much as possible to not have any encounter with Xuejian after divorcing him in her past life, but she constantly heard about him through Chenwei's tales.
"Then follow me," Xuejian commanded, turning to lead the way into the mansion. Chenwei trailed behind him, and Meiying followed suit, feeling a mix of anticipation and trepidation coursing through her veins. They entered Xuejian's study, and as Meiying attempted to step in, he blocked her path with a smirk and slammed the door shut in her face.
Her initial instinct was to bang on the door, demanding answers. However, the presence of Chenwei inside forced her to maintain composure. Unwillingly, she retreated to her own room, determined to confront Xuejian once Chenwei departed. Little did she anticipate that fatigue would overpower her, causing her to drift into an unexpected slumber.
The following morning, as Meiying awoke, panic surged through her. She immediately rushed to Xuejian's study, only to find it vacant. He was nowhere to be found. Butler Yang informed her that he had departed earlier that morning.
Meiying sighed, feeling a mixture of frustration and anger. Pushing aside her worries, she resolved to prepare for the day ahead. Today, she had to perform scenes for a shooting she was a part of. In one scene, her character, Xiu Ying, was tasked with apprehending a serial killer alongside her partner, Huo Wu. Another scene would see her interrogating suspects at the police station. With determination in her heart, Meiying readied herself for the challenges that awaited her on set.
When Meiying had finished acting all her scenes, it was already noon. She was taking a moment to relax in the van when suddenly, Jingyi burst through the door as if she had seen a ghost!
"Meiying, don't go on your fan website!" Jingyi exclaimed urgently.
"What is it this time? Someone has scandalized me once again without any evidence, and now my fans are lambasting me," Meiying questioned, her confusion evident and Jingyi nodded in response.
"I should sue all of them once this is all cleared up. Anyway, do you know who did it this time?" Meiying asked, her frustration building.
Jingyi hesitated, biting her lips nervously. "It w–was Feng Qingyun," she finally revealed.
Meiying sat up immediately, a foreboding feeling washing over her. She quickly reached for her phone, which was resting on the nearby seat.
Jingyi attempted to collect it from her, but Meiying swiftly dodged, causing Jingyi to land on the seat. Meiying firmly grasped Jingyi's neck unknowingly as she searched for her name on the internet. To her dismay, she discovered that she was once again trending at the top of the headlines.
"Wang Meiying attempted murder," the post's title read. Meiying clicked on it, revealing a video attached. As she played the video, she watched Feng Qingyun lying in a hospital bed, her head bandaged, with her children by her side offering comfort. Between sobs, Feng Qingyun accused Meiying of pushing her down the stairs when she came to visit Wang Xuejian. Feng Qingyun claimed that Meiying was envious of her daughter and convinced Xuejian to make her leave his house. Then two nights ago, Feng Qingyun came to see Wang Xuejian to ask for forgiveness for anything that her daughter had done wrong but Meiying tripped her down the stairs before she was able to do that.
Meiying felt a deep shock wash over her as she listened to these accusations. She scrolled down to the comment section.
[WokStarWanderer]: I am a nurse working at the hospital where Mrs. Feng is currently admitted. I can confirm that Wang Xuejian has indeed brought her to the hospital two nights ago. It seems she was indeed at his house that night. I have even attached a clip as evidence.
[MischiefMaven]: Why are people so quick to blame someone without any evidence? Has our world really come to this? We must not forget that the previous scandal turned out to be a lie, and this one lacks any substantial evidence. Mrs. Feng has positioned herself both as a victim and as a witness.
[ConfuciusCommentator]: @MischiefMaven You have made a valid point, my friend. We should not rush to criticize Meiying until both she and her husband come forward with the truth.
[CriticalEye]: They may just lie about it in order to protect their reputation. While there is no solid evidence, we must choose to believe until a video providing proof is shared.
[CrypticInsider]: Has anyone noticed that Wang Meiying has been subject to attack after attack, one scandal after another? She should be cautious, considering she already has so many haters.
[HilariousHawkEye]: I personally know Wang Meiying, and she is not the type of person to commit such acts. Even if she did, do you really think she would be foolish enough to do it in her own house?
[SassyCommentator]: We all know how close Wang Xuejian is to the Feng family. Mrs. Feng might just be right. Perhaps Wang Meiying was consumed with jealousy.
As Meiying continued to read through the comments, she felt Jingyi scrambling on the seat beside her. Realizing that she had unintentionally been holding Jingyi down by her neck, Meiying immediately released her, guilt washing over her. Jingyi's breathing returned to normal, and she spoke up.
"Are you satisfied now? This distraction will only hinder your ability to fully concentrate, and the director even informed me that you have another scene. The one where Xiu Ying meets Yang Xiulan at the police station with Wei Long," Jingyi informed Meiying.
"Doesn't he know about the news?" Meiying asked in surprise.
"He's aware, but since there is no evidence against you, it shouldn't affect your performance. That's what he said," Jingyi replied with a slight smile. Meiying chuckled and quickly changed into another outfit before stepping out of the van with Jingyi.
As they approached the police station, they were met with a large crowd of people. Some jostled Jingyi out of the way, while others began recording Meiying with their phones. Some were carrying eggs, flour and tomatoes.
Meiying knew what was going to happen next, suddenly an egg flew through the air, heading straight towards Meiying.
But in that moment, Meiying stood tall and resilient ready to accept the hit.
What a bad day for Meiying.
Since I didn't post yesterday, I'm posting two today.
