I wake up feeling better than I have since I first woke up in this hellish place. I can't help but grin as I remember the events of the previous day. I had encountered a particularly tough monster, larger and more powerful than anything I encountered before. But I refused to back down. I fought with everything I had, my sword swinging with precision and my movements fluid. In the end, with a final blow, I defeated the monster and claimed some new robes and a magical sword as my own.
I have never felt such a sense of accomplishment and power as I did in that moment. I examined my new equipment, impressed by its quality and strength. I had upgraded my sword and robes, making me feel like a true warrior. And with this newfound confidence, I knew that I could take on anything else this cave had to throw at me.
I get back into my routine of endlessly walking through these tunnels, always headed towards that light in the distance. The walls are smooth and cool to the touch, and there is a hint of moisture in the air. The sound of my footsteps echoes off the walls, and I can hear the drip, drip, drip of water in the distance.
As I walk, I can't help but wonder who could have built these tunnels and for what purpose. I'm pretty sure this cave isn't a naturally formed one after spending so long trapped in here. Were they meant to trap someone like me or to protect something valuable? Maybe that chest I found? But I push these questions from my mind, knowing that they are not important. The only thing that matters is getting out of here and figuring out where the hell I am.
I have learned to avoid groups of monsters and take down lone, wandering ones. It's become routine, and my ability to do the job has only improved with each passing day. But today, something feels different. As I venture deeper into the cave, I notice a change in my routine.
I no longer fear the giant snakes that slither their way through the rocky tunnels. In fact, I find myself seeking them out and taking them down with ease. It's only after the third snake that it hits me. They are a lot weaker than I thought they were.
I can't believe I have been wasting all this time avoiding them. I wish I had realised this sooner. But there's no time for regrets. I need to focus on getting out of this cave. I know that if I just keep up my pace, I'll eventually find my way out.
And so, I continued on my journey, taking out any monster that came my way. Even the fearsome goblins, with their sharp teeth and intimidating history of killing me, were no match for me. I had never felt this strong and invincible before. It seemed like nothing could stop me.
As I kept up the pace for twenty hours, I couldn't help but smile at my newfound bravery. But exhaustion began to take its toll on my body. I realised that I needed to rest and replenish my energy if I wanted to make it back alive. Luckily, I found a safe spot to rest, away from the creatures that lurked in the shadows.
I sat down, taking in deep breaths of the stale air. But then, I felt it, a gentle breeze against my skin. It was a strange sensation, one that I hadn't felt in a long time. I closed my eyes and let the cool air wash over me. It gave me a sense of hope and reminded me that there was an outside world waiting for me.
As I opened my eyes, I could feel the cool breeze against my skin. It was a welcome change from the damp and musty air of the cave I had been trapped in for what felt like an eternity. I knew I had to move quickly before the creatures that had imprisoned me discovered that I had escaped. I stood up and brushed off the dirt and grime that covered my body.
And the source of the breeze was a small opening in the wall. It was the only way out, and I needed to take my chance before it was sealed shut again. I crawled towards the opening, careful not to make any noise. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I reached the opening and pushed my way through. I emerged into the blinding sunlight and took in my surroundings.
As I emerged from the darkness, I was greeted with a breathtaking view. Green countryside miles stretched before me, dotted with colourful flowers and trees. It was like a painting come to life. But the real beauty came when I turned around and saw the sun rising over the horizon, casting a warm glow over the land. Tears of joy and relief prickled in my eyes as I fell to my knees, overwhelmed with emotion. I was finally free from that miserable existence.
As I caught my breath and took in my surroundings, I realised I still had no idea where I was. I could see only nature, no signs of civilisation, and no villages or towns in sight. But I wasn't going to let that dampen my spirits. I had survived being alone in the cave for days and was sure I could find my way back to civilisation.
I noticed a river in the distance and remembered something I had heard somewhere. If you are lost in the wilderness, you only need to follow a river downstream, as most settlements are built near the sea or along rivers. It was worth a shot, so I began to make my way towards it.
"I hope I find other people soon," I muttered.
The water was unlike anything I had ever seen before. It was crystal clear and sparkled in the sunlight. I dipped my hand into the stream, and the water was cool and refreshing. The steam looked so clean I could barely believe it was real. I could see tiny fish swimming beneath the surface, their scales glinting in the sunlight. Instantly, I was enchanted.
I sat at the stream's edge, watching the fish swim around. I bet I could catch many fish here if I had a fishing rod. As I daydreamed about all the delicious meals I could make, I heard a rustling in the bushes behind me. Turning around, I saw a tall figure emerge from the trees.
I saw a deer emerge from the shadows. It was a beautiful deer with magnificent antlers and shiny brown fur. It stopped in its tracks and locked eyes with me for a moment before turning and walking away. I stood there in awe, frozen in place. I had never seen a deer so close to me before. Deer are usually timid creatures, rarely allowing humans to get close. I hope that means it is used to seeing people, and I am close to a village or someone's farm at the very least.
But my hopes were dashed several hours later. I had been following the river for the whole day, and now, as the sun sets, I haven't found a single sign of human life. Am I the only human being on the planet? After being alone for over a week, that thought doesn't seem so far-fetched.
Feeling defeated, I sat down by the river, trying to figure out my next move. Suddenly, I heard a rustling sound coming from the bushes. Alert and on guard, I stood up and prepared myself for whatever was approaching. But it was just a rabbit that quickly ran away the moment it saw me.
As a huge fan of survival TV shows, I remembered all the tips and tricks I had seen. My first thought was to find shelter and start a fire. I knew fire could provide warmth and light and even help me make tools and cook food.
I gathered some dry leaves, twigs, and branches, just like I had seen on the show. It took me a while to get the fire going, but eventually, I had a small flame. Holding my hands close to the fire, I felt a sense of accomplishment. I had made my first fire on my own.
I removed the meat from my storage and hung it over the fire. I remembered the host using a stick to skewer the meat, so I did the same. I cooked the meat for a few minutes. I wasn't happy that the meat was goblin meat. But I was hungry and knew I had to eat to keep my strength up.
My stomach grumbled at the thought of food, and I realised that I had not eaten since... since... I can't even remember when the last time I ate was. Without thinking twice, I grabbed a piece and took a bite. Immediately, I regretted my decision. It tasted horrible, like a mixture of mould and dirt. But being too hungry to care, I forced myself to chew and eat every last bite.
Once I finished, I used the water from the nearby river to clean my taste buds. That was probably the worst thing I have ever eaten, I thought to myself. I just prayed that the water in that stream was safe to drink.
My stomach churned and growled as I lay down to rest for the night. I could feel the tough and chewy meat sitting in my stomach, refusing to be digested. I closed my eyes and tried to ignore the discomfort, hoping it would go away.
<0>
I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the sun glaring in my eyes. I stretched and got out of my makeshift bed made of leaves and branches. As I sat up, I noticed that something was off. I felt itchy all over my body, and when I looked down, I realised that I was covered in ants. It seems like they have found a new home in my bed.
I quickly brushed them off, feeling their tiny bites all over my skin. But that was the least of my concerns. A sudden roar filled the air as I stood up to leave, and the ground started shaking. I could feel fear creeping up inside me as I tried to figure out what was happening.
The birds took flight from every tree branch, and even the animals seemed to be in a state of panic. I could see them running in every direction possible, not knowing where to go. Fear started overtaking my mind, and I knew something was seriously wrong.
I looked up at the sky, searching for any sign of danger. And then, finally, I saw it, or, to be more accurate, I saw them. Massive meteorites were falling from the sky, engulfed in flames and leaving long trails of smoke in their wake. I had never seen one up close before, and it was both terrifying and mesmerising.
The meteorites flew right over my head, and the explosion from when they landed was so massive that the shockwave nearly knocked me over. I could feel the ground shake beneath my feet, but all I could do was stand there and watch.
I cannot believe what I am witnessing. Massive clouds of dirt and dust tower into the air, illuminated by giant columns of fire. I have seen pictures of massive explosions, and that is precisely what I am looking at right now. It is almost unbelievable, but I know I am not seeing things. It does not take long for things to settle down, but monsters and animals alike continue to panic. I see a giant creature fly overhead that looks like a tiny dragon. It could be a baby dragon, for all I know, but I was too busy finding a place to hide to figure that out. Fortunately, it does not see me and flies away.
I let out the breath I was holding and came out of hiding. If that thing attacked me, there was no way I would have won. But it is gone now. Taking another look around, I spot a nearby hill and head that way, hoping I could spot civilisation from there. I hope that dragon-looking creature does not decide to come back as I head out.
It was oddly quiet. There were no bird tweets, insect noises, or other sounds apart from my own footsteps. It was as if the entire world was holding its breath, waiting for something to happen. Just an hour ago. Meteorites fell from the sky, crashing onto this unfamiliar land. I had watched from a distance, mesmerised by the fiery streaks of light as they descended towards the earth. It was a sight I would never forget.
Another hour passed, and things started to feel more normal. I could hear birds chirping in the distance, and I even spotted a rabbit hopping through the field. Still, there were no people in sight, and the silence was deafening. I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as I continued my journey, wondering if I would ever find a place where other people were.
By the time I stopped for the night, the sun was already setting, casting a golden hue over the open field. I took a moment to catch my breath and survey my surroundings. Despite my best efforts to find one, there was no sign of any settlement in the distance. I was beginning to feel disheartened, but then I saw it. A waterfall in the distance, where the river ended by pouring into a beautiful lake.
Hope flickered within me as I made my way towards the waterfall. The sound of rushing water became louder, and soon enough, I was standing at the edge of a steep cliff overlooking the breathtaking view. The waterfall cascaded down in a mesmerising curtain, creating a rainbow in its mist. The lake sparkled under the fading sunlight, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace settle within me.
However, my joy was short-lived as I noticed the ruins beside the lake. The crumbling walls and dilapidated structures seemed to warn me of danger. But after hours of wandering aimlessly, I was willing to take my chances. As I got closer, I saw an old wooden pier that was falling apart.
Searching through the ruins, I don't find anything except for debris and broken pottery. But they should provide shelter for me as I sleep tonight. I find a comfortable spot and settle down in one of the corners where the roof still stands above me. I pull out some dry grass and leaves to make a makeshift bed and cover myself with a dirty fur rug I found buried under a pile of dust.
As I close my eyes, I can feel the magic of the ruins pulsating around me. It is a feeling I have never experienced before, and it fills me with a sense of wonder and curiosity. I allow my mind to wander, and soon, I am drifting off to sleep.
Suddenly, I am awoken by a loud crash. I jump to my feet, prepared to defend myself, but as I look around, I see that it was just a bird that had knocked over some of the loose stones. I let out a relieved sigh and made my way to the broken window to get a better look at the night sky. To my amazement, I see a constellation in the shape of a dragon, with its wings spread wide and its tail trailing behind it. I have never seen anything like it before.
I couldn't fall back to sleep after lying back down, so I decided to use that one skill I have that I haven't even considered using. 'Labyrinth Master' it must sound strange to want to use a skill that could trap me for days like that cave did but hear me out. I figured it would help me grow stronger. If this world works like a video game, then I should be able to increase my level quite a bit in the labyrinth.
I closed my eyes and focused my mind. My body felt light and tingly as I channelled my energy. Slowly but ever so surely, I felt something shift and twist under my command. With each movement, I sensed new paths opened up, leading into the unknown. When I opened my eyes, I found myself standing in front of a white door that seemed out of place as it stood in a space it shouldn't be able to.
<'Labyrinth Construction Underway,'>
Text floats in front of the door, and it takes me a moment to stake it in before I can even react.
<'Please select the number of floors. At your current level, you can only create a maximum of ten floors'>
Okay, well if, if I am going to do this, I should go big.
<'Ten floors selected. Populating the labyrinth with monsters now. The monsters will range between levels five and ten. The labyrinth setup has been completed. You are free to enter,'>
The text disappears, and I am left staring at the door for a moment, trying to gather my strength and courage. I can do this. I take a deep breath. I can do this. I am starting to have second thoughts, but I still reach out and touch the door. But instead of opening, a bright light envelopes me, and before I know it, I am in what looks like a stone castle corridor.
Torches line the halls, burning brightly, but maybe a stone castle corridor would be a better way to describe this place. There are no windows or doors. Just a long corridor that disappears into the darkness up ahead. I can do this. I tell myself once again before I step forward, surprised to see the torches ahead of me light themselves while the ones behind me blow themselves out.
It doesn't take long to find my first monster. It is a lone blue slime sliding along the floor like a slug. But I feel much calmer now than when I was in that cave fighting against the goblins and… those snakes that liked to eat me… let's not think about that. The point is that I am much calmer now. Maybe it is because slimes are weak monsters in games, but I don't feel scared at all.
I quickly used my 'Appraisal' skill on the slime and learned it is a level five monster with only one skill: 'Regeneration'. It may be weak, but it sounds like it will be annoying. If I had magic, I could destroy it all in one go, leaving nothing behind to recover, but sadly, I don't know a single spell.
Then how about a weak point? Every living thing has to have at least one weak point. Even dragons are weak in their eyes and, in one particular, show their… rears… but I don't want to think about doing that kind of thing to a slime, so I push the thoughts away. So, what is this slime's weak point? Looking at it, I can only see one thing that stands out. A small stone-like object that might be its brain or maybe the slime heart? Whatever it is, it is worth a shot.
My grip tightened around my trusty sword, its sharp edges glinting in the dim dungeon light. The monster may have been weak, but I knew better than to underestimate it. Not after monsters like goblins, who were weak in some of the games I played, have killed me more times than I could count. Its slimy body pulsated and quivered, ready to attack at any moment.
The monster tried to dodge and evade my attack, but I was too quick for it. With one swift and precise stab, I hit the core, and the monster let out a shrill cry of pain. It writhed and squirmed, but I refused to let up. I kept my grip on the sword and pushed harder, channelling all my strength and determination into that attack. With that strike, the monster let out a final wail before dissolving into a puddle of goo at my feet.
As I survey my surroundings, I notice nothing remains except a sapphire residue, a reminder of the slime's former corporeal form. However, I can't help but question the necessity of collecting and preserving such a trivial substance. With a final glance, I leave it behind and continue onward.
<0>
As I descended three floors, my battles solely consisted of fighting off slime monsters. Unfortunately, I have not gained any new levels. However, I couldn't help but notice that these same monsters seemed to be levelling up each time I reached a lower floor. Despite my lack of growing stronger, my skills in ambushing slimes have greatly improved, so it hasn't been a complete waste of time.
Upon arriving on the fourth level, a smirk forms on my lips as I spot a potential prize for taking down this creature. The diminutive being stands at knee height, boasting a sandy complexion and wielding a tiny shield and spear. My 'Appraisal' skill reveals its identity as a Sand Puppet, a level nine adversary equipped with a few combat techniques. I've discovered that elevating my 'Appraisal' ability to level five grants me abundant knowledge when utilising it.
On another note, I recently advanced my 'One-handed Sword' and 'Sneak attack' skills to level five. Additionally, I acquired two more skills, 'Survival', which is now at level three, and 'Cooking', in which I have reached level two. I am confident that with these skills, I will not have to resort to consuming anything as repulsive as that goblin meat. In fact, I would rather face starvation than ever have to taste that foul meat again.
But back to the Sand Puppet, I am not sure where its weak point is but since I don't die in this world, at least for long, I don't feel worried about trying to find it. Still, to be safe, I watch the monster briefly, trying to learn as much as possible before I strike. Unfortunately, all it does is stand there. Shaking my head, I draw my sword. Looks like I am going to have to learn about this monster during the fight.
With quiet cunning, I surprise the Sand Puppet and swiftly detach its head from its body. Yet, to my astonishment, the creature remains standing. As it turns to face me, its lifeless eyes seem to bore into my soul as its head looks up at me. It takes a moment for me to snap out of my daze, just in time to see the monster's spear lunging in my direction. Acting on pure instinct, I dodge the attack, narrowly escaping harm's way.
Let's try a different approach since decapitation doesn't seem to harm this monster. Slicing it up proves to be more effective as the Sand Puppet attempts to defend itself but is too sluggish. After numerous slashes, the creature eventually perishes. These pesky Sand Puppets will surely be a nuisance in future battles, but at least I was able to retrieve a miniature spear and shield from this one. Though I won't be able to use them, they could potentially be sold to someone else.
By the time I reached the next level, I had reached level eleven and defeated at least twenty of those Sand Puppets. Hopefully, I will find some more valuable things on this new level. I can't find any treasure chests in here, but a monster that is made of gold would be nice to come across.
Sand Puppet Warrior, level ten, and more combat skills. I still find myself facing off against annoying creatures, but at least these monsters have weapons and shields made of what appears to be iron instead of the wooden versions I found on the floor above.
<Title Acquired: Ambusher.>
After much practice, I have mastered the art of defeating these beasts and have even earned a moniker for my accomplishments. They roam incessantly, providing ample opportunities for me to conceal myself and ambush them. With precision, I attack as soon as they pass by, delivering a lethal blow to their weak points, swiftly defeating them.
The aftermath was surprisingly clean – no blood or gruesome corpses in sight. Instead, all that remained were scattered mounds of sand, leftovers from the monstrous beings that once inhabited this place. On top of the sand lay their discarded weapons and shields, too small to be of any use to me. However, the iron used to craft them could fetch a decent price. As I descended to the sixth level, my kill count stood at an impressive twenty-four of those Sand Puppet Warriors.
<0>
Floor six was where I came face to face with my old goblin nemeses. Let's just say I got plenty of payback on my way through that floor. So much so that I levelled up before heading down the floor seven.
Things began to take a turn on floor seven. The hard stone walls and floors were replaced by a carpet of lush green moss and tangled vines that sprouted from every crack and crevice. As I continued deeper, I could feel a surprising warmth that turned the ground into a shallow stream, just enough to engulf my ankles. But as I walked, I couldn't help but feel that the fluid beneath my feet was not quite water. It had a thickness that didn't impede my steps but still made me move with a slight sluggishness. The worst part was the stickiness as whatever this water is clings to my legs.
This level makes me yearn for a relaxing soak in the tub, and it also appears to be more spacious. The hallways seem to go on forever, and I cannot keep track of the time spent wandering. On the bright side, the fish-like creatures could make a delicious meal. Despite their low level of five, they should still be suitable for consumption and attack in swarms, allowing me to collect a large amount of them.
The ninth floor remained unchanged from the floor above, except for the presence of larger swarms and level seven monster fish. While there were a handful of level ten fish scattered throughout, they were scarce, making my descent to the tenth floor a quick journey.
On the tenth floor, a dramatic shift in atmosphere was immediately apparent. Gone were the dreary, never-ending hallways. In their place stood a cavernous circular chamber, warmly illuminated by flickering torches. At the heart of the room loomed a formidable figure - a towering, four-armed skeleton. Although it posed no immediate threat, its intense gaze seared into my soul with eyes ablaze in a fiery shade of crimson. Adorned in sturdy metal armour and wielding a sword in each hand, this fearsome creature exuded an undeniable aura of strength.
Four Armed Skeleton Knight, level ten, skills: One-Handed Sword, Multi-Attack, Evasion, Parry, Continuous Attack, Self-Healing and Armor Penetration. This monster is definitely going to be the toughest one yet.
As I prepare for the impending fight, I inhale a few deep breaths. Although I am aware that defeat does not mean death, I cannot help but feel a twinge of fear. The way it glares at me with its blazing eyes sends a chill down my spine. Strangely enough, it is the very act of the creature simply gazing at me without any action that unnerves me the most. I wish it would do something other than silently observe me.
Finally, I am ready. I take one last deep breath and step forward.
"Yarrrrrgh!"
The monster unleashes a deafening roar, causing the ground to shake beneath me. My instincts urge me to flee, but I stay rooted in place as the creature begins its charge. With the agility of an Olympic athlete and the weight of a heavy truck, it swiftly moves towards me. I narrowly evade its attack, but its sword grazes my shoulder, leaving behind a minor wound. Though it stings, I am grateful that it is only a superficial scratch.
"Yarrrrrgh!"
My opportunity for rest is non-existent as the beast relentlessly swings its four swords at me, leaving me with minimal breaks. Every aspect of the creature exudes speed, from its agility to its sword swings, which seem to strike at lightning speed. Struggling to match its pace, I strain to merely defend and deflect the onslaught of attacks from this monstrous foe.
I'm constantly being pushed back, with any attempt to move countered or blocked. Every time I try to create some space, this beast stays right with me, and any attack I throw is swiftly blocked, or the creature causes me to abort my assault.
"Yarrrrrgh!"
At last, I succeeded in landing a blow despite also sustaining a deep cut to my cheek. My triumph was short-lived, however, as I watched in dismay as the monster's hand regenerated before my eyes. At least I had managed to disarm the creature, as its sword was still lying on the ground.
Despite the lingering pain in my cheek and the warm trickle down my neck, a plan is beginning to take shape in my mind. This time, I will take the offensive. With determination, I charge forward, determined to find a path to victory.
The collision of our swords reverberates through the room, igniting a dazzling display of flying sparks. The monster's fiery gaze intensifies with every passing moment as it relentlessly attempts to strike me down. However, I stand firm, enduring a few superficial wounds but remaining steadfast. Gradually, I gain the upper hand and cease being pushed back.
"Yarrrrrgh!"
A severed hand is quickly regenerated as the monstrous being swings its sword again, but the weapon plunges into the ground instead. The near miss nearly took off my left ear, but the creature is now left with only two swords. Exhausted and drenched in sweat, I continue to fight back, slowly gaining the upper hand and inching closer to a well-deserved victory.
With a deep inhale, I launch myself into the attack once more. The relentless monster shows no signs of tiring, but I continue to push it back. Blow after blow, hit after hit, I manage to force the beast to retreat to the opposite side of the room. Finally, I am able to disarm it by severing a third hand, and the sword is on the ground.
"Yarrrrrgh!"
A slash across the monster's eye causes it to jump back, but I don't let it escape me.
"Yarrrrrgh!"
I almost cut it in half, by the creature still lives.
"Ah!"
I take a deep cut to my arm. Blood pours from the wound as my limb dangles, lifeless at my side. It hurts like hell, but I grit my teeth and return the favour by taking the monster's last remaining sword from him.
"Yarrrrrgh!"
I unleash my fury. Slashing and stabbing so fast, my sword looks like a blur, or maybe that is just a result of my blood loss. A lot of things seem blurry right now. But I refuse to stop now.
"Yarrrrrgh!"
I lost count of how many times I cut this creature, only to find it still standing. I must be making progress. It has to be close to death.
"Gah…"
A kick to my stomach knocks the wind out of my lungs, but I don't let the monster get away with it. With a single slash, I sever the legs of the creature.
"Yarrrrrgh!"
How many times do I have to cut it? Why won't it die?
"Yarrrrrgh!"
I can feel my body burning, wanting to stop, but this monster just won't die. I ignore the burning in my good arm and lungs. I try not to pay attention to the warmth of my blood trailing down my body. I will kill this thing.
"Yarrrrrgh!"
"Just die already!"
"Yarrrrrgh!"
Finally… finally, it is dead. I collapse onto its disintegrating body as I start to black out. How could one monster take so much damage? I have never felt so tied before in my life. But just before I close my eyes, something appears before me.

After reaching level fourteen, I eagerly used all my growth and skill points. Thankfully, my injuries have also fully recovered, but this shouldn't come as a shock considering how many times I miraculously woke up completely healed after my encounters with those pesky goblins.
However, my situation remains unchanged. I am still isolated and uncertain of my whereabouts in the dilapidated structure. I contemplate whether time stands still as I navigate through these mazes. The gaps in the roof reveal a glimpse of stars, and the moon hangs in the same spot.
As I rest my back against the wall, I can't help but ponder my next move. It's clear that I need to keep moving, but how much longer will it take to stumble upon another person? Perhaps I should stay put and attempt to refurbish this area. But the reality is, I lack the skills to fix a structure in such disrepair. The only viable choice I have is to persistently walk and hope to come across civilisation sooner rather than later. I can only hope my search will be fruitful.
<0>
I start walking as soon as the sun rises the next morning. I couldn't fall back to sleep so I spent the rest of the night cooking the meat I collected in the maze. I may have cooked too much, but it tastes so good I could probably eat all of it before it went bad. If not, I could definitely sell it. Taking another bite of the piece of fish in my hand, and I knew everyone would be lining up to buy something that tasted so good.
As I make my way through a field of flowers, I am able to both hear and see a variety of birds. Suddenly, a rabbit jumps into my line of sight, adding to the peaceful scenery. However, despite the presence of wildlife, there are still no signs of human life. Thankfully, I stumbled upon a road, giving me hope that I may come across someone soon. Without this stroke of luck, I would have continued to believe that I was the only person in this world. As I continue along this road for an hour, I have yet to come across any towns or villages.
After another two hours, I am finally met with signs of life. In the distance, I can make out a towering wall surrounded by vast farmland. As I get closer, I am greeted by the sight of lush fields of crops and spinning windmills, resembling the picturesque postcards I have seen. However, as I approach, I notice that the inhabitants of this place are not all entirely human. They possess animal-like features, but what strikes me the most is their tattered clothing, which barely covers their bodies and uncomfortable-looking collars. Despite my presence, no one spares me a glance. It was then I realised that I had a major problem - I could not comprehend a single word these unique individuals spoke.
"…!"
Amidst the chaos of someone's loud yell, my confusion clouds my mind as I turn to see a horse barreling towards me. Panic sets in as I realise the animal is charging directly towards me. Before I can react, the horse collides with me, the impact knocking me off my feet and into unconsciousness. The only silver lining is that during my blackout, I discovered I have the ability to learn the Shiga language and can upgrade it to level one. This newfound skill will hopefully prove useful upon awakening, allowing me to effectively communicate with the people around me.

"You're finally awake,"
I blink as I open my eyes, but I could have done with a better sight to wake up to. I am sure plenty of ladies would like to wake up to the sight of a big, strong man watching over them, but I wish he would not be staring at me too closely.
"We were getting worried about you," The man says. "You were out cold for two days."
Two days have passed since the accident! I sit up, my body stiff from being immobile. Amazingly, I haven't sustained any injuries. Nothing is broken, nothing aches, and I haven't lost anything. To be struck by a runaway horse and emerge unscathed feels like a stroke of incredible luck.
"You were hurt pretty bad when you were brought in, so we were not sure if you were going to make it," The man continues, but I find that hard to believe with how unharmed I currently am. "You do not have to worry about paying for the priest to heal you, as the count already took care of that since the horse that hit you belonged to his farm."
So, I was healed by magic. That explains why I am perfectly okay.
"You will find your belongings on the table beside you, but there is something that we need to take care of before I can let you go," I glance at the table and see my robe and my magical sword lying there. "We couldn't find your identification papers on you, are we need to get you reissued. Since the city is at fault for the incident, there will be no charge, but if you lose them again, you will be required to three silvers plus tax."
"I understand," I say as I get up.
"Please follow me, and I will get everything sorted out," I follow the man into the next room and see a desk and some stone objects with runes carved into the top. "I am required to ask this but are you currently or ever have been a wanted criminal?"
"No," I shake my head. Unless you call killing goblins a crime, I am a perfectly law-abiding citizen.
"Good, then place your hands on the Yamato Stone," He points to the stone object, and I do as he instructs, causing the runes to glow. "Now, speak your name."
"Kura Suou," I say as requested, and a faint white light comes from the Yamato Stone.
"You can take your hands off now," I let go and take a step back as my information is displayed by floating letters.

It doesn't show my unique skills or the Shiga language skills… I wonder why, but the man doesn't seem bothered.
"So, you are a former Mon-Hunter," The man comments as he fills out the paperwork.
I do not know what he means by Mon-Hunter, but I nod my head as he finishes the paperwork with a wax seal. He gives the papers one last look before handing them back to me.
"Thank you," I give him a slight bow of my head.
"Take this, too. It is your visa token. It is good for ten days. If you want to stay longer, come back to this station or to the town hall in the central ward and apply for an extension. They'll take care of the process at either place for three copper coins," He hands me with a small wooden with some information branded into it. "If it expires and you do not apply for an extension, the guards can fine you a silver. And if you cannot pay that, you might end up as a slave, so be careful."
It seems a bit harsh for being unable to pay a fine, but I bite my tongue and keep quiet about it. I pretend to put my papers and visa in my pocket, but I slip them into my storage in reality. He does not know about it, and I see no reason to tell him now.
"If you are looking for an Inn to stay at, I recommend the Gatefront Inn," The man says. "Just this morning, I had to reissue paper to some young lad who looks similar to you and should be staying there."
I thank him for the advice and step out. The place is really lively. Horse-drawn carriages, hundreds of people and multiple market stands are all over the place, and I can hear people trying to sell their wares. Stepping onto the street, I do not see any signs for the inn, but I have plenty of time to wander around and find a place to stay. Unfortunately for me, I must stand out as a tourist as a big-chested girl suddenly grabs hold of my arm.
"Hey lady, you look new to town," The girl smiles as she starts to lead me down the streets. "If you are looking for a place to stay, then the Gatefront Inn is the best place in Seiryuu City to stay. We may not be the cheapest, but we have clean beds and tasty food. What do you say, missy?"
"Um, sure…" I nod my head and let her drag me down the street.
I was going to the inn anyway, so I have no problem with being guided there. I just wish she would have more compassion for me. It hurts having such large pillows pressed into my arm when mine are… it does not matter; I am still growing. One day, they will be like hers.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1
As I open my eyes, I am greeted with the unfamiliar sight of a damp, eerie cave. Confusion washes over me as I try to recall how I ended up here. The last thing I remember was waiting for my train home. But instead of being on my way back, I find myself in this unexpected place. Did I doze off on the train?
It's possible, considering how hard I have been working lately. My current project has been a gruelling task, with my company pushing us to our limits. I can vividly remember yawning and closing my eyes as the train arrived at the station. Thankfully, a colleague of mine was on the train with me, so no one could have taken advantage of my slumber. But if this is a dream, it's unlike any dream I've had before.
As I stand alone in this frigid cave, surrounded by the sound of water steadily dripping from the ceiling, I can't help but feel like I've been trapped in a lucid dream. My surroundings are so vivid, so tangible, yet I can't shake the feeling that there's something otherworldly about this place. With nothing but darkness enveloping me, I strain my eyes to see if there's any sign of life. And then, I see a glimmer of light coming from what appears to be a game-like menu floating in front of me.
"What is this?" I whisper out loud.
The clock reads 6:00 am and four options are listed on the screen in front of me: Status, Storage, Skills, and Map. Confused and disoriented, I wonder what these options could possibly mean. My mind feels clouded, like a thick fog has settled over my thoughts. I rub my temples, trying to remember how I ended up here.
I look around the room, trying to decipher any clues or hints about my location. With a sense of curiosity, I select the Map option, hoping to gain insight into my whereabouts. To my dismay, the map only shows the room I'm currently in, leaving the rest of this mysterious place uncharted. It's frustrating to have such a useful tool at my disposal, yet rendered useless. Taking a deep breath, I click on the Status option, hoping it will give me some clue as to what's happening.

My name was written incorrectly. It should have been Kura Suou, with my last name preceding my first. However, it was written in a Western format for some unknown reason. Despite this, my character appears to be a typical level one newbie. I can't help but let out a sigh of disappointment as I glance at my underwhelming stats. If this were a dream, why couldn't I have dreamt of being an overpowered character instead? Taking a deep breath, I shake my head and remind myself not to get too caught up in it. I quickly move on to check my skills.
My name was Kura Suou, or at least that's what it should have been. But for some strange reason, it was written as Suou Kura. Yes, my last name, Suou, was written before my first name, Kura. As I read the virtual reality game-like character screen, I couldn't help but let out a sigh of disappointment.
Not only was my name incorrect, but my character appeared to be a typical level one newbie. I glanced at my underwhelming stats and couldn't help but feel a pang of envy as I saw other players with soaring health and strength points.
"Why couldn't I have dreamt of being an overpowered character instead?" I grumbled to myself, feeling a wave of frustration wash over me. I quickly moved on to check my skills.
<Unique Skills: Menu (Allows to check self-status, assign skill points, displays time and a map of areas visited can be displayed), Storage (Can store an unlimited amount of non-living items), Labyrinth Master (Can create a Labyrinth. These Labyrinths are subspaces that only the creator and the people she allows to enter. The monsters within the Labyrinth and be up to five levels higher than the creator. Treasure chests can't spawn, but monster parts can be taken out. It can only be created once per month.) and Revival (The Ability to come back to life. Will return at the place where you last slept).>
<Academic Skills: Appraisal Level 1 (Can appraise items for information about them).>
That's an improvement. While two of the unique skills are expected in a game, the unlimited storage space is excessive. Appraisal is a common skill, but I wonder why it's the only one that can be levelled up. Perhaps unique skills don't have levels? Regardless, I won't dwell on it as I'll most likely forget this dream upon waking. Managing my expectations, I decided to check my storage. As expected, it's empty. However, I won't let it discourage me. If this is a dream, there are surely better things in store for me.
Regarding my other unique skill, Labyrinth Master, I am uncertain whether to feel exhilarated or anxious about possessing such a skill. On the one hand, labyrinths are the ultimate destination in games for enhancing one's level and obtaining valuable resources. However, on the other hand, labyrinths are teeming with formidable adversaries.
Sitting and contemplating these matters will not lead me to escape from this cave. As I survey my surroundings again, I notice a solitary entrance and make my way towards it. Tragically, just at that moment, the ground beneath me unexpectedly collapses.
Ouch, that was quite a fall. I couldn't help but grimace as I got to my feet and rubbed my sore behind. Thankfully, I didn't sustain any damage, but I couldn't shake off the lingering ache. I thought pain was absent in dreams, but I guess not. Maybe it's just a very lifelike dream, no need to worry about it.
But as I glance around, I realise I'm in yet another cavern, with only one way in and out. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a mysterious cave filled with unknown dangers. Hopefully, this isn't the kind of nightmare where I'm stuck in some never-ending loop, constantly falling and waking up in a new location.
I'm starting to question whether this is even a dream at all. With a sigh, I begin to make my way towards the entrance of the cave. Hopefully, the ground won't suddenly give way this time and send me tumbling down.
Exiting the cavern, I am met with a lengthy passageway stretching out in both directions. The eerie glow of electric blue crystals adorning the walls guides my vision in the darkness. My heart races as I take in my surroundings, realising that I am trapped in a fantastical cave unlike any I have ever seen before.
Unsure of which direction to take, I mentally toss a coin and head towards the right, praying it will steer me towards freedom. The thought of being confined to this dreary, chilly cavern for the duration of my dream fills me with dread. I keep walking, hoping that I will soon come across some clue or way out of this strange place.
As I approach another intersection, I turn right once more. However, my boredom only intensifies as I persist in my search for an escape. It has been ten minutes of aimless wandering, with no progress or excitement to break the monotony. This has to be the dullest dream anyone has ever experienced unless... unless it's not a dream.
I push away the thought and remind myself that this must be a mere dream. Just a mundane and uneventful dream, nothing more. But despite my best efforts to convince myself, doubts continue to creep in, casting doubt on the reality of this experience. What if this isn't a dream? What if I am stuck in this endless cycle forever? The thought sends shivers down my spine.
<0>
The cool, damp air of the cave surrounds me as I trudge on, my feet aching and my patience wearing thin. I had been exploring this cave for what felt like hours, hoping to find my way out. As I continue on, I can feel the walls closing in on me, the narrow passages becoming even tighter. I can't help but wonder if this cave is some sort of never-ending maze designed to trap unsuspecting people like myself.
"Come on!"
My frustration builds with each passing turn, each dead end, each false hope. I yell out in frustration, hoping that someone, anyone, will hear my cries for help. But the only sound that echoes back is my own voice, mocking me in this endless abyss. In a fit of rage, I kick a small stone, sending it skittering down the tunnel. The sound echoes through the cave, only adding to the feeling of confinement. I am on the verge of giving up.
"Will I ever see the sun again?" I ask the empty tunnel.
Despite my exhaustion, I cannot allow myself to give up just yet. Determination coursing through me, I tightly clench my fists and continue walking. I yearn to escape this dreary cave and bask in the warmth of the sun, finding some enjoyment before my friend shakes me awake upon reaching my destination. I refuse to let this mundane dream conquer me. If nothing exciting is going to happen, then I will make it happen.
As I press on, I finally enter a vast open area, the first one I've encountered in the ten minutes since I woke up. However, my hopes of being outside are quickly dashed as I realise this space is only a grand cavern, still deep underground.
Tap… tap… tap…
My heart raced as I heard a noise coming from the darkness. What was that? My head quickly turned as my eyes and ears sought out the sound of footsteps that slowly started to echo through the cavern. I held my breath, hoping that it was someone who could help me get out of here.
As the sound grew closer, my heart sank. It wasn't just one person, but a group of people. I cautiously made my way towards the source of the noise, my mind racing with different scenarios. Who were these people? Were they friendly or dangerous?
"Ahh!"
An arrow whizzed past my head, narrowly missing me. I fell to the ground, my cheek stinging as if it had been grazed by the arrow. I clutched my face, feeling the warm, sticky blood seeping between my fingers. I couldn't believe it. Was this real? Was I really being attacked by goblins in a dark cave? It felt like something out of a fantasy book, but here I was, bleeding and in pain.
I forced myself to stand up, trying to orient myself and find a way out of this nightmare. But as I looked up, I saw three goblins emerging from the shadows, their grotesque faces twisted into cruel grins as they aimed their bows at me.
I wanted to believe that this was all a dream, that I would wake up any moment now in my comfortable bed. But the pain in my cheek and the sight of those goblins told me otherwise. I took a deep breath and prepared myself for a fight. I may have been terrified, but I refused to be a helpless victim. I grabbed a nearby rock and braced myself for whatever was to come.
"This is not REAL!" I scream as a trio of arrows sink into my chest.
<0>
As I found myself once more in the cave where I initially regained consciousness, my screams continued to echo off the walls. The reality of my surroundings sinks in as I reach up to touch my cheek, finding it no longer stinging or bleeding. However, the memory of the pain and blood lingers in my mind. To my relief, I also notice the absence of arrows piercing my chest. The agony and terror I experienced were all too vivid to be a mere dream. This is undeniably real. I had no idea how I had ended up in this cave or why I woke up here instead of on the train. All I knew was that I needed to get out and fast.
I stand up, my mind racing as I struggle to comprehend what happened. Is it possible that I have met my demise? The memory of yawning and drifting off as my train arrived at the station is still fresh, but surely death is not a plausible explanation. Such events are confined to the pages of books or the world of anime. But then, what other explanation could there be for this bewildering situation? It is all too overwhelming.
Steeling myself, I survey the cave once more. If this is to be my new reality, I must find a way out and seek aid. Yet, the only path again leads through that perilous hole in the ground. I may attempt to leap over it, but I fear I lack the skill. Despite my apprehension, it remains my sole choice. Thus, I approach the opening and take the leap. This marks my second escape attempt. Sad to say, a goblin has crept upon me and thrust a blade into my back this time.
Miraculously, I landed safely on the other side. I sighed in relief, but it was short-lived as I heard a rustling behind me. I turned around to see a small, green creature with beady eyes and a wicked grin. A goblin. It had crept up on me, and before I could react, it thrust a blade into my back. The pain was excruciating as I fell to the ground, my vision blurring. I knew this was the end for me. I closed my eyes, accepting my fate.
<Attempt Number 3>
As I cautiously navigated through the dark tunnels of the cave, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread wash over me. The walls seemed to be closing in on me, and the eerie silence was deafening. I knew I had to be careful, for one wrong step could mean my death.
For almost an hour, I tiptoed through the maze of tunnels, using any means necessary to avoid being found. I crawled through narrow passages, climbed boulders, and swam through murky water. I was determined to find a way out of this cursed cave.
But despite my best efforts, I eventually came face to face with a swarm of goblins. Their beady eyes glowed in the darkness, and their sharp fangs glistened in the dim light. My heart raced in my chest as I tried to back away, but it was too late. The goblins let out a deafening screech and charged towards me, wielding their crude weapons.
I tried to fight them off but was no match for their sheer numbers and ferocity. They clawed at me with their sharp claws, and their weapons sliced through my skin like butter. The pain was unimaginable, and I knew it was only a matter of time before they would kill me.
I know it was a blessing when death finally came. I dread the thought of returning to those treacherous depths, but I am left with no other choice if I want to find an exit from this cavern.
<Attempt Number 4>
This time, I managed to survive for just over two hours. Despite encountering a group of seven goblins, I slyly navigate through the cavern where I had previously met my demise. Everything seemed to be going well, and I had high hopes of making it through.
But just as I was about to let out a sigh of relief, a monstrous snake descended from above. Its scales glistened in the dim light, and its menacing eyes locked onto me. I knew I was in trouble. I quickly tried to dodge its attack, but its movements were too swift. The snake wrapped itself around my body, squeezing the air out of my lungs. I could feel my bones cracking under its powerful grip.
As I struggled to break free, I could see the glint of victory in the snake's eyes. Though I am grateful to have died before being devoured, my final sight was the gaping mouth of the snake closing in on my head.
<Attempt Number 5>
I had been lucky so far, using my stealth and agility to sneak past the goblins and other creatures lurking in the shadows. But I knew I couldn't rely on my luck forever. I needed a proper weapon, something that would give me an advantage in case I was caught.
As I searched through the cave, I kept my senses on high alert. I knew I couldn't let my guard down for even a moment. But no matter how hard I looked, I couldn't find a single weapon. The walls were bare, and the ground was covered in dust and rocks.
Frustrated and desperate, I let out a frustrated sigh. I couldn't believe that I had come all this way, and there was nothing to show for it. But then, an idea struck me. I could use the rocks as weapons. It wasn't ideal, but it was better than nothing.
Without wasting any more time, I started gathering rocks. I carefully selected the ones that were smooth and easy to grip. I didn't want to hurt myself while trying to defend myself. With twelve rocks in my storage and another in my hand, I was ready to take on anything that came my way.
As I made my way back to the hole, I couldn't help but feel a sense of determination wash over me. I was going to make it out of this cave alive. With a deep breath, I jumped into the hole and landed with a thud.
My luck seemed to have turned. After successfully evading several groups of goblins and defeating two attacking bats, I was feeling more confident in my abilities. I knew I was getting closer to my destination, and the thought pushed me to keep moving forward.
I cautiously made my way back to the place where I was previously ambushed by a serpent. To my surprise, it seemed to have disappeared, and I let out a sigh of relief. Luck was truly on my side today. I continued my journey, my senses on high alert and my hand firmly grasping a rock.
I didn't encounter anything for the next ten to fifteen minutes and began to relax. Just as I was about to let my guard down...
"Ahh!"
As soon as I emerge from my hiding spot, a scream escapes my lips. I can feel my heart pounding against my chest. Before I can even process what is happening, I am met with the towering figure of the snake. Its long, scaly body coils around me, squeezing the air out of my lungs. I struggle against its grip, but it's no use. I can feel my strength fading as the snake tightens its hold.
It instantly brings a sudden end to my life once again. Darkness engulfs me as I take my last breath. But amidst the chaos, I realised one fortunate outcome: the discovery that the items I had stored were retained upon death.
<Attempt Numbers 6, 7 and 8>
Due to the striking similarities of these deaths, I will recount them all at once. During my sixth try, a goblin thrust a knife into my stomach as I turned a corner without caution. On my seventh attempt, I was once again stabbed by a goblin, this time in the back. My eighth try resulted in multiple stab wounds inflicted by a group of goblins after one of them shot me in the leg with an arrow.
As I lay on the cold, hard ground, bleeding out, I couldn't help but wonder why this was happening to me. Was I being punished for something I did in my past life? Or was this some kind of cruel and twisted game?
At this point, I cannot help but question whether I am destined to remain trapped in this cave for eternity. But I refuse to accept this as my fate. I will continue to fight, to find a way out, no matter how many times I have to die and be brought back to life. I will not let this cave defeat me. I will find a way to break free, even if it takes me a thousand tries.
<Attempt Number 9>
As I leap into the deep hole, I promise myself, 'This time, I will not fail.' With only five stones remaining, I tread carefully, hoping it will be enough to ensure my escape. My determination to break free from this endless cycle of gruesome deaths drives me onward. I cannot bear to spend another moment in this hellish place. Silently, I move forward, determined to maintain my sanity and attain my ultimate goal of freedom.
I cautiously moved forward, my hand gripping tightly onto a rock as I made my way deeper into the dark, damp cave. My heart was pounding in my chest, and my mind was racing with thoughts of what dangers could be lurking in the shadows. I had been in this situation before, too many times to count, and each time, it ended with a knife buried in some part of my body.
My eyes constantly scanned my surroundings, a habit I developed after being backstabbed numerous times. Some may think it's extreme, but those who have experienced similar pain would understand why I take these precautions. My constant vigilance has helped me evade further harm thus far, and I will persist in my scrutiny.
After an hour of trekking through the tunnel, I successfully evade three groups of goblins. As I continue on for another two hours, I manage to steer clear of a giant snake that swallows a goblin in one gulp. Despite having been eaten by the snake twice already today, I am taken aback by its relentless appetite.
Carefully sneaking past it, I finally reach another cavern. It is clear that this cave is not a natural formation. Although I have only been to a cave once during my school days, even I can tell that this one is unlike any other, with its unnatural features and eerie atmosphere.
As I stepped into the dark, damp cavern, I immediately regretted my decision to explore it. But my wish to find an exit got the best of me. Suddenly, a small figure appeared in front of me, wielding a small sword. I froze, my eyes widening in fear. It was a goblin, its beady eyes fixed on me. I cursed my luck for not being able to conceal myself before it spotted me.
With a determined charge, the goblin set its sights on me, leaving me with no choice but to defend myself. Despite the relief of facing only one opponent, fear still gripped me as the goblin brandished its weapon. I readied myself for the attack. The goblin was getting closer and closer, its sword glinting in the dim light of the cave.
But I refused to let fear control me. I steeled my nerves and took a deep breath, focusing all my energy on the stone in my hand. I waited for the goblin to come close enough to ensure a successful throw, and then I let my stone fly.
"Die!"
It connected with the goblin's forehead with a swift and accurate throw. The impact was enough to force the creature to stumble and relinquish its hold on its brandishing short sword. I scooped up the fallen weapon and charged towards the downed goblin without hesitation.
As I closed in on the creature, I could see the fear in its beady eyes. It let out a series of angry shrieks, but I was unafraid. With a fierce determination, I plunged the sword deep into its chest. The goblin let out a pitiful wail before finally succumbing to its injuries.
"Ha, ha, ha,"
A fit of laughter escapes me as I collapse into exhaustion after the intense brawl. The tension melts away from my body, and for once, I have a glimmer of hope that I will make it out of this cavern alive. Yes, I actually did it. I bravely fought and defeated a goblin. After suffering countless losses at the hands of these creatures, it's satisfying to get some revenge finally.
As I rise to my feet, I find the goblin lying on the ground, a pool of inky blood spreading around its lifeless form. Clutching my sword tightly, I feel empowered to finally have a real weapon in my possession. It's time to push forward and escape this treacherous place once and for all.
"Ahh!"
Agony engulfs me as an arrow strikes my knee, causing me to collapse. Before I can even process the pain, another arrow lodges itself in my shoulder. My body hits the ground, and as my vision fades, I see more arrows flying towards me. I close my eyes, bracing for the inevitable.
But when I open them again, I am back in the cave where my journey began. It's a cruel cycle that I have been trapped in, reliving the same moments of pain and despair over and over again. Will I ever find a way out?
I take a moment to catch my breath, my mind racing with thoughts of giving up. But then I remember something. Something that I had overlooked. I had a sword now. I reach for the sword with renewed determination and feel its weight in my hand. A sense of hope and strength fills me as I realise I now possess a weapon. I dive back into the tunnel, confident that I will break free from this cave this time.
<0>
I have been trapped in this cave for what feels like an eternity. I have tried to escape nine times, only to be met with failure each time. But I refuse to give up. This time, I have a real weapon at my disposal and improved hiding skills. I am determined to finally break free.
Walking through the dark and winding passageways, I feel the sword's weight at my side. Knowing that I am no longer defenceless gives me a sense of power and confidence. But I must remain cautious. This cave is dangerous, and I cannot afford to let my guard down.
I hear the echoing screeches of goblins in the distance, and I quickly hide behind a large boulder. I watch as a pair of them pass by, their beady eyes scanning the area for signs of intruders. I may not be afraid, but I am not foolish either. I am still learning to wield this new weapon and cannot take any unnecessary risks.
Once the goblins have moved on, I continue on my journey. The cave walls are damp and cold, and the air is thick with the stench of rotting flesh. But I push through, my determination driving me forward.
As I continued my journey through the dark and winding tunnel, the only source of light coming from the glowing gems on the wall, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The damp walls of the cave seemed to close in on me, and every sound echoed ominously. But I had a mission to complete, and I couldn't let my fear get in the way.
As I cautiously made my way past three goblin patrols, I silently thanked my training in stealth and combat. I managed to eliminate one goblin without alerting the others, but to my disappointment, it had no valuable items for me to take. I left its body untouched and pressed onward, my determination to complete my quest growing stronger.
After trekking for three hours and avoiding more goblins, I could feel my stamina depleting. I knew I had to stop and rest, but I was also starting to feel hungry and thirsty. I had not thought to bring any provisions with me, and now I regretted it. Maybe I should have considered cooking the goblin for sustenance. But then again, do you think goblins are suitable for consumption?
Feeling exhausted and hungry, I pushed on, hoping to find some shelter before I collapsed. And that's when I stumbled upon a small room. It was not much, but it would do. I quickly settled in for the night, hoping not to encounter any further attacks while I recharged my energy.
When I awoke with a jolt, my heart racing as I tried to make sense of my surroundings. I was lying on a bed of rocks, surrounded by darkness. But as I sat up and took in my surroundings, a sense of relief washed over me. I was unscathed, with no injuries or wounds. I couldn't believe my luck that I didn't die and ended up having to start this walk all over again.
But as I took a deep breath, I felt that my stomach was grumbling, signalling the first pangs of hunger. My throat felt parched, and I knew I needed sustenance and hydration urgently to avoid risking another demise.
Gritting my teeth, I pushed myself out of my makeshift bed, determined to keep going. I made a mental promise to reward myself with a hearty goblin steak after my next triumph over those vile creatures. I had been on this journey for what felt like an eternity, constantly battling and evading the goblins who seemed to have a never-ending thirst for my blood.
As I pressed on, my mind couldn't help but wander to thoughts of food and water. The thought of a juicy steak made my mouth water, and I could almost taste it.
After an hour of walking, I came across another goblin. My plan was to surprise it, but my growling stomach gave me away. In a split second, I slashed its throat before it could retaliate. The goblin fell to the ground, its lifeless eyes staring at me. I felt a pang of guilt for taking it's life, but I knew I had no choice. Survival in this cave meant doing whatever it took.
But as I looked at the fear in the goblin's eyes, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. I knew what I had to do next was not easy, but I had to eat. I carefully removed a portion of its arm, avoiding the bone, and stored the meat. It was not much, but it would keep me going for a little while longer. Now, all I needed was a way to start a fire so I could cook the meat and satisfy my hunger. I searched the goblin's body for any usable items but once again found nothing.
As my hunger and thirst intensified, the simple act of moving forward became increasingly challenging. I stumbled and fell, my limbs weak and trembling. Each step I took felt like an impossible task. But I could not give up. I had to keep going.
Weary and desperate, I blindly stumbled into yet another cavern, hoping it would lead me to an exit. But instead, I was met with a painful blow from a goblin's arrow that pierced my eye. I screamed in agony as I fell to my knees, my hand instinctively reaching for my eye.
My life flashed before my eyes, and I was reborn once again. However, this time, I found myself waking up in the small resting room I had stopped in instead of being forced back to the start. My unrelenting hunger and thirst had miraculously resolved themselves, to my relief and surprise. I could feel my strength returning, and I could see clearly out of both eyes.
On my eleventh try, I embark on my latest journey to break free from this forsaken cavern. This time, I am determined to succeed. Despite repeating myself, I constantly remind myself of my unwavering determination to escape finally.
As I set out on my journey, I remind myself of my unwavering determination to break free from this forsaken cavern. I take a deep breath and push forward, my heart racing with anticipation. I know what lies ahead: a treacherous maze filled with dangerous creatures and deadly traps.
I navigate through the maze for two hours, evading groups of goblins and taking down four lone enemies. With each kill, I gain more confidence and experience. Eliminating these foes has become second nature to me. In fact, I recently advanced to a higher level as a result of my last kill. My HP, MP, and stamina have all increased by ten, though I was hoping for a new skill or magical ability that could aid in my escape. Nonetheless, any advancement is a step closer to freedom.
As I made my way through the dark, damp cavern, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The air was thick with the stench of death, and the sound of goblins feasting on their latest kill echoed through the walls. But I had no choice but to continue.
As I crept past the goblins, I couldn't help but shudder at the sight of the colossal serpent they were feasting on. Its body, ten times the size of a man, lay lifeless and mangled on the ground. I knew I had to be careful not to disturb the goblins, or I would end up like that deadly creature.
Evidence of a brutal battle litters the area, with lifeless goblin bodies and dark, sticky blood staining the floor. Knowing I shouldn't confront them, I cautiously manoeuvre through the cavern. I quickly snatch a small dagger from a fallen goblin along the way. Fortunately, I successfully traversed the cavern without detection and moved on to a new passageway.
I had been wandering through the dark and treacherous cave for what felt like hours. My sword was heavy in my hand, and my legs were aching from constantly evading goblins. But I had no choice. I needed to escape.
I had already fought my way through several groups of goblins, taking them out one by one as silently as possible. But as my stamina began to falter, I knew I needed to find a secure location to rest and recuperate.
I continued to move through the cave, my eyes scanning for any potential hiding spots. And finally, I stumbled upon a secluded spot hidden behind a large boulder. It seemed like the perfect place to take a break.
As I leaned against the boulder, I closed my eyes and let out a deep sigh. But just as I was about to drift off to sleep, I was startled by a sudden flash of light. I opened my eyes to find a menu materialising in front of me.
<Skill Points to spend: 10>
<Current Skills that can be level up: Appraisal Level 1>
<Skills Available to learn: Weapons Skills: Throwing and One-Handed Sword. Physical Combat Skills: Aiming and Surprise Attack. Academic Skills: Dissection. Stealth Type Skills: Stealth.>
After carefully considering my choices, I invested three points into my stealth skill, bringing it up to level two. As I examined the levelling system, I discovered that each level requires one additional point, with level two costing two points, and so on.
Realising the potential benefits, I also decided to level up my one-handed sword and surprise attack skills to level two. To round out my skill set, I used my final point on dissection in case I encountered another goblin that needed to be dissected.
I also have ten 'Growth Points' to spend. These are spent to increase my stats other than HP, MP and Stamina. This is how I continue to strengthen myself. I put three into strength, four into dexterity and three into agility. I can't see the other stats helping me out of my current situation. After confirming my selections, I drifted off to sleep, knowing I was halfway to reaching level three.

When I wake up, I go through the same routine that has become second nature to me. I select a tunnel and begin my trek, never knowing what obstacles or encounters I may face along the way. On this particular day, my journey is quickly interrupted by seven menacing goblins, causing me to take cover.
Despite this challenge, I managed to continue moving forward at a steady pace. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a colossal bat appears and ends my adventure prematurely. It was not the worst death I have experienced in this cave, but definitely not the best. I can't believe I have reached the point where I am considering which way I was killed was the most pleasant. I really need to get out of this cave before I go crazy.
I continued my journey on my twelfth attempt, successfully sneaking by several goblin groups. I eventually came across a lone goblin in an unpleasant situation and took the opportunity to eliminate it.
Relieved to escape the revolting sight and stench, I continued for another five hours, defeating six more goblins and avoiding numerous others before needing to pause for rest once again. Fortunately, I reached level three before needing to stop. I increased my stealth, one-handed sword, and sneak attack skill levels to three using the skill points. As for my stats, I increased my strength and dexterity by four and agility by two.
I force myself to get up after my short break. My growling stomach and parched throat remind me that I am still hungry and thirsty. Refusing to let this setback discourage me, I steel myself and push through the discomfort as I begin to make my way forward.
But before long, I am forced to take cover as three goblins pass by. I hold my breath and press myself against the wall, praying they do not spot me. My hand trembles as I grip my sword, ready to defend myself if needed. After what feels like hours, the goblins finally move on, and I let out a sigh of relief. I continue on my journey only after they have disappeared from my sight.
After another hour of cautiously navigating through the treacherous paths, I heard a faint hissing sound behind me. My instincts kicked in, and I immediately dove behind a nearby rock, my heart pounding in my chest. Peeking out from my hiding spot, I saw an enormous serpent slither past me, completely unaware of my presence. My stealth ability had proven to be effective once again.
I sighed in relief and continued on my journey, my eyes constantly scanning for any potential dangers. Two more hours passed, and I found myself in a small clearing, surrounded by three small goblins. Without hesitation, I drew my sword and attacked, my adrenaline pushing me forward. After a brief but intense battle, I emerged victorious, but not without a few bruises and cuts.
However, while resting, I must have passed away as I woke up in the same spot where I had dozed off. But something feels off. I am no longer famished or thirsty, and my body feels rejuvenated. I can only assume that whatever took my life has moved on since I do not spot any goblins, massive snakes, or bats around me.
As I continue my journey through the dark, damp cave, I can't help but feel a sense of pride wash over me. I have been on this quest for what feels like ages, but I am finally making remarkable progress. My body aches from the hours of walking and fighting, but I am determined to reach freedom. I have defeated ten goblins in the past fourteen hours, gaining valuable experience and honing my skills.
As I take a much-needed break, I realise that I am just shy of reaching level four. This realisation only fuels my determination to push forward. I know that I am close to achieving my goal, and I refuse to let anything stand in my way.
With renewed determination, I continue my journey, fighting my way through the depths of the cave. Eight more hours pass, and I am faced with seven more goblins. I am exhausted, but my adrenaline keeps me going as I defeat each one with precision and skill.
Finally, I reach level four before I collapse onto the cold, hard ground. I am relieved to have achieved this milestone, but I know that I cannot rest for long. As I drift off to sleep, I focus on enhancing my stealth to level five. I know that this will give me an advantage in my escape attempts when I wake up.
As I walked through the dark, damp cave, I could feel the weight of exhaustion and pain weighing down on my body. Every step felt like a thousand needles piercing through my feet, but I knew I couldn't stop. I had to keep moving forward, no matter how difficult it was.
As I pushed through the pain, I couldn't help but wonder if this was all worth it. But I quickly brushed those thoughts aside, determined to reach my goal. However, my determination was short-lived, as I felt a sharp pain in my back. I turned around to see a goblin, its sword dripping with my blood. For the first time, I was grateful for the goblin as it had put an end to my suffering.
I woke up a few moments later. The pain was gone, and so was my hunger and thirst. So, I picked myself up and continued moving forward.

For two full days, I trudged on, taking mortal wounds and dispatching goblin after goblin without pause. The tally of my deaths and the count of goblins I had slain became a blur, but I pushed on, driven by the hope of finding a way out of this deadly cavern. With each step, I repeated this determination to myself, determined to survive and break free from this infernal maze of death, no matter what it takes.
With a deep inhale, I pushed myself to continue onwards. My heart raced as I evaded goblins and monstrous serpents. Using my skills, I eliminated any threats and pressed onward. A satisfied grin stretched across my face as I triumphed in my latest battle, finally reaching level five. After days of persistent battles, my efforts were finally paying off.
I cautiously made my way through the winding tunnels, constantly on the lookout for any signs of danger. My sword was drawn, ready to strike at a moment's notice. As I continued on, my legs began to ache from the non-stop walking. I knew I couldn't afford to rest for too long, but my body was screaming for a break.
Finally, I gave in and came to a halt in a small alcove. I quickly scanned my surroundings for any potential threats and spotted three goblins lurking in the shadows. Without hesitation, I lunged forward and swiftly dispatched them with my sword. The adrenaline rush from the fight gave me a renewed sense of energy.
But I knew I couldn't let my guard down. So, I settled in for a short rest, making sure to hide as best I could before closing my eyes. I focus my efforts on improving my stealth skill, successfully raising it to level six. To my surprise, I discovered that I had two other skills at my disposal - hunger resistance and thirst resistance. I had often suffered from the pangs of hunger and thirst on my travels, and now I had the power to overcome them. Without wasting any time, I focused on levelling up these skills to level two.

After a full day of travel, I reach a pair of massive doors and halt my journey for the night. I can't be sure if these doors are my path to freedom, but the cramped room nearby serves as a suitable resting spot. Upon waking, my first instinct is to inspect the doors once again. Though their destination remains a mystery, I pray that they will guide me out of this never-ending maze. To my surprise, the doors part effortlessly and noiselessly, without even a hint of obstruction.
I am met with a room crafted entirely out of sleek marble. Bewildered, I watch as scintillating blue torches ignite themselves and cast an eerie glow upon the walls. Hesitantly, I step into the elongated space, feeling a sense of unease creeping up on me.
My eyes are instantly drawn to a chest positioned at the far end. Despite my apprehension, I venture further into the room. The lack of even a single speck of dust adds to my suspicion, and as I glance upward, words in an unfamiliar language greet me from the ceiling.
My heart quickens as I anxiously scan my surroundings, expecting something to jump out at me. But as I finally reach the chest, I realise that nothing has happened. I inspect the chest with trembling hands, half-expecting it to be a trap. To my surprise, it opens effortlessly, mirroring the ease with which the double doors did earlier. Bracing myself, I kneel down to see what lies within.
"Jackpot!"
I'm rich. As I explore the riches of this chest, I come across four bags filled with an astonishing amount of coins, five hundred in each. The first bag holds a collection of copper coins, while the second contains larger, more valuable copper coins. The third bag reveals shimmering silver coins, and the final bag is filled with remarkable gold coins. Despite my lack of understanding of this world's monetary system, I cannot help but feel a sense of fortune at my discovery.
Yet, there is more within this treasure trove: a pouch of small, crimson gems and a short sword. Unlike my previous sword, this one comes equipped with a sheath. I quickly switch the swords, but I immediately sense a change in this new weapon. Without hesitation, I pour my magical power into it, causing the blade to radiate a soothing blue light. Upon appraising the sword, I discover its true nature as a magical weapon.
As I continue to rummage through the chest, my gaze falls upon a beautifully crafted blue robe. With further appraisal, I learned that it grants a weak but beneficial MP recovery effect. Wasting no time, I attire myself in the luxurious robe, its softness and comfort overwhelming me. However, I cannot shake the feeling that this robe was placed here purposely for me, as it fits me eerily well.
As I was preparing to depart on my journey to find the exit of this cave, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had been gnawing at me ever since I entered the room. I had brushed it off as my past deaths, but now, as I turned to leave, I finally discovered the source of my discomfort.
From a swirling cloud of darkness emerged a colossal skeleton, towering over me and adorned in heavy, metallic armour. Its eyes blazed with a red glow, and it brandished a massive axe in one hand and a shield in the other. I could feel my heart racing as I realised that I was face-to-face with a creature straight out of a fantasy novel.
Without any room to retreat, I found myself backed against a wall as the intimidating skeleton let out a deafening roar and charged towards me.
Ducking under the swinging axe, I evade its deadly strike and hear the sound of the wall crumbling behind me. I quickly get back on my feet, adrenaline coursing through my body. My heart is racing as I survey my surroundings, trying to come up with a plan to escape this treacherous room.
But my hopes are quickly shattered when I realise that the door has been closed and sealed shut. With a sinking feeling in my stomach, I know that opening it will be impossible. I am trapped in this room with no way out.
As I turn to confront the skeleton, my eyes widen in horror at the massive gash it has carved into the wall. It seems my only means of escape from this room, akin to a challenging game, is through either defeat or victory over this monstrous foe. With a deep breath, I ready my sword and prepared to face the skeleton.
As the skeleton raises its axe once more, I frantically search my surroundings, hoping to find something, anything, that could help me in this dire situation. But all I see are the walls of the room and the eerie glow of torches filtering through the cracks.
My heart races as the skeleton lunges towards me once again. I narrowly dodge its swinging axe, feeling the rush of air as it slams into the ground where I had been standing. Despite my evasion, I am still hit by shards of marble sent flying from the impact.
With the skeleton preoccupied with retrieving its axe, I seize the opportunity to launch a counterattack. My blade slices through the skeleton's side, but it shows no sign of pain or hesitation. Determined, I channel my magic into my sword and strike again, successfully knocking the skeleton off its feet. However, my victory is short-lived as the monster quickly gets back up.
To make matters worse, I have depleted all my MP with that last attack, leaving me defenceless for the time being. As the skeleton advances towards me once again, I frantically search for a way out. But with no other option, I ready my sword for another round of battle.
Once more, I charge towards the skeleton. My sword held high and burning with determination. As I approached the skeleton, it swung its axe at me with a deafening roar. I quickly slid on the floor, narrowly avoiding the deadly weapon. I struck at its ankles with a swift movement, hoping to bring it down. But to my dismay, the skeleton remained standing, its bones rattling with an eerie sound.
I knew I had to change my strategy if I wanted to defeat this monster. I dodged its attacks with quick movements, my eyes never leaving its every move. I could feel the sweat dripping down my forehead, but I refused to let it distract me.
With all the strength I could muster, I swung my sword at the skeleton's arm, aiming to sever it from its body. The clang of metal against bone echoed through the chamber as I struck at it again and again. Finally, with two powerful blows, I managed to sever the arm holding its shield. The skeleton let out a loud screech, but to my surprise, it showed no signs of pain. Its empty eye sockets seemed to be glaring at me, challenging me to continue my attack.
Dodging once more, I prepare to strike the skeleton by targeting weak spots in its metal armour. My efforts seem to be paying off as the monster's movements begin to slow, but my undead enemy shows no signs of giving up. Just as before, the skeleton attempts to strike me with its weapon, and I swiftly evade before launching a fierce counterattack.
It's clear that this creature needs to be taken down soon. Exhaustion is beginning to set in for me, and I'm unsure of how much longer I can endure this battle. But I can't give up now, not when I'm so close to achieving my goal of escaping this cave.
With renewed determination, I strike at the skeleton once again. It retaliates with a fierce blow, but I manage to deflect it with my sword. I can feel my muscles ache, and my body is covered in bruises and cuts, but I push through the pain.
Its bones rattle with each step, its empty eye sockets seemingly fixed on me. Once more, it lunges towards me, its bony fingers reaching for my throat. I quickly dodge its attack, my heart racing with fear and adrenaline.
I strike back with my sword, hoping to shatter its bones and end this battle once and for all. But the skeleton is unfazed, continuing its assault with renewed vigour. I can feel my strength waning, my muscles burning with exhaustion. This creature seems to have an endless supply of energy while I am running on fumes.
With a deep breath, I launch another attack, my sword slicing through the air. But the skeleton is quick, dodging my strikes and retaliating with its own. I can feel its bony fingers scraping against my skin, my blood staining my robe. This is it. I can't keep going like this. I am out of options.
Desperately, I glance at my sword and my dwindling magic points. It's not enough, but I have no choice. Even if it means draining all my remaining energy. As the skeleton charges at me once more, I gather all my courage and charge towards it.
"Ahh!" I scream as I rush forward, dodging the skeleton's axe before striking it with my glowing sword.
With a swift strike of my sword, I send the skeleton hurtling backwards. I watch with satisfaction as it shatters into fragments before me. In that moment of triumph, I feel my energy drain. In the midst of my dizziness, a small smile crosses my lips as I slip into unconsciousness, content in the knowledge that I have emerged victorious and have now reached level ten.
While I slumber, I improve my skills. Following the recent battle, I acquire new skills: Evasion, Magic Manipulation, and Sprint. Recognising their usefulness, I raise all of them to level five. Having some points left, I decided to rest and bask in the satisfaction of my triumph. Once I awaken, I am determined to leave this cave behind.
