Chapter 141: Abandoned

Looking at the number in his call logs, Zhang Xiaohua repeatedly checked to make sure that this was the number that his mother had just given him.

Liu Yan was dying and Zhang Xiaohua didn't want to waste time, so he dialed again. Twice in a row the phone rang before the other party actually rejected the call and sent him straight to voicemail. Zhang Xiaohua slowly became certain he wasn't calling the wrong number, the other party should be Liu Yan's daughter.

Zhang Xiaohua tried hard to remember in his heart why she would she would hang up at the sound of his name. It was probably due to the past Zhang Xiaohua's mistakes.

Presumably it was because of Liu Yan's loyalty and care for their family leading to her slightly neglecting her own daughter. That along with the way Zhang Xiaohua used to treat her mother probably made the daughter resentful and dissatisfied.

He remembered hearing his parents talking about the situation multiple times.
