Outside the S City base, the zombie tide had been completely eradicated, and the guard squad members along with the staff were busy handling and destroying the scattered zombie corpses on the ground.

Lin Cheng walked back from outside alone, and the necessary procedures of registration and waiting at the entrance were unavoidable. He patiently stood aside and watched the guard squad members inspecting each zombie corpse, or more accurately, searching for Crystal Cores.

"Uncle Lin? I thought you just drove out, didn't you?"

Liang Jiuqing, seeing Lin Cheng leaning to the side, asked in surprise.

She remembered that just a moment ago Lin Cheng had driven out of the base alone; they had even chatted for a bit and indeed, there was no one else in the car but him.

"I wanted to take a drive, but the car broke down halfway, so I walked back alone,"

Lin Cheng said with a cheerful smile, feeling quite good about himself as if he had accomplished something significant.
