Chapter 199: Chapter 199

This time, it wasn't about assisting with an investigation.

Saira's eyes widened. "W-What are you saying? I don't understand. Didn't you just ask me earlier?"

This time, the officers were not polite. They directly took her away. When the police laid out all the evidence before her, Saira completely panicked.

She stared at the video of herself and tried to maintain her composure as she argued, "I-I only added a bit of seasoning, that's seasoning, not poison. You've got it wrong. How could I have poisoned him? I like Arthur, why would I ever hurt him? You've made a mistake."

"If there's anyone who has ill intentions towards Arthur, it's Zuri who's more suspicious than me. All those food boxes were delivered to Arthur by her. If there was any poison, only she would have had the opportunity to do it."

"I'm innocent. I didn't poison anyone."

No matter how much Saira pleaded her innocence, the police didn't believe her. The evidence was right in front of them. Now, they just needed to find the physical proof, and the charge of murder against Saira would be set in stone.

Meanwhile, when Dalia learned that her precious daughter was being held at the police station on suspicion of murder, she immediately stormed into the study.

"Big brother, you must save Saira. Saira is such a kind and gentle person, how could she possibly commit murder? She's being framed. You have to help her." Dalia pleaded.

But after she finished speaking, she noticed that her brother's expression had turned very grim. He stared at her with a dark look on his face.

Suddenly, Qin Shiming threw the pen holder beside him harshly at her feet, scaring Dalia into silence as she looked at him in fear.

Qin Shiming shouted angrily, "How long are you going to keep dragging the Qin family down with you?"

"Big brother, what do you mean?" Dalia looked at him, bewildered.

Qin Shiming's expression was cold. "The Huang family has united with several major families in Oceanic City to go against the Qin family. The Qin family is now besieged on all sides. And all of this is because of your wonderful daughter. We've fed and clothed you, and now we even have to pay for your crimes. Get out of the Qin family immediately."

"But the Qin family is my home too," Dalia said, her face pale.

Qin Shiming snorted coldly, "From the day you got married, you were no longer part of the Qin family. I allowed you to stay here, but you really think this place is still your home? Butler Zhao."

Butler Zhao arrived promptly. "Master."

"Pack up the eldest miss's things and send her away immediately."

Butler Zhao hesitated. "Master, how should I explain this to the old madam?"

"I'll speak to Mother myself."

"Understood."

Butler Zhao was efficient. He quickly packed up Dalia's belongings.

Dalia refused to leave, insisting on staying no matter what.

The living room became chaotic, with the servants too afraid to speak.

"What's all this commotion?" The old madam of the Qin family came out to scold them, her cloudy eyes landing on the luggage by the door and then on her disheveled daughter. She quickly grasped what was happening.

When Dalia saw her mother, she rushed over. "Mom, big brother wants to throw me out. This is my home. If he throws me out, where am I supposed to go?"

The old madam cast a displeased look at her eldest son. "Shiming, what are you doing? Is this house not big enough to accommodate Wan Jun? She's your sister. If you throw her out, you might as well throw me out too."

Qin Shiming's wife had long been displeased with Dalia and her daughter. Now that her husband wanted to throw them out, she wouldn't miss this opportunity.

"Mom, Wan Jun is married to the Lin family, she's a Lin family member. Aaron is lying in the hospital, and instead of taking care of him, Wan Jun is hiding here. Do you know what people outside are saying about the Qin family? You may not go out and hear it, but we still have to go out and face people. You can't just ignore the Qin family's reputation for the sake of sparing Wan Jun some hardship, can you?"

Her daughter-in-law's words were sharp and to the point, which greatly angered the old madam.

The old madam turned to her son. "Look at your wife, spouting such nonsense."

Usually, he would respect his mother and go along with her wishes, but not this time.

"Yun Xia is right."

Qin Shiming's wife was overjoyed to see her husband standing by her side for once.

While she was happy, the old madam was furious.

"Well, it seems your wings have hardened, and you no longer consider your sister part of the family. Are you planning to disown me as your mother too? Are you going to throw me out one day as well?" The old madam began to make unreasonable demands, using her status to pressure him.

Qin Shiming could no longer contain his anger when he heard his mother defending Dalia so fiercely. "Mother, do you want the entire Qin family to be buried alongside her?"

"What do you mean?" The old madam was stunned.

"Honey, what do you mean by that?"

At this point, Qin Shiming didn't bother hiding the truth any longer. He said in front of everyone, "Her precious daughter poisoned Huang's son, Arthur. Now the Huang family, along with several other major families, have joined forces to crush the Qin family. They want to ruin us."

Qin Shiming's wife was filled with rage upon hearing this. Before anyone could react, she furiously rushed at Dalia and slapped her hard across the face.

"You jinx! You destroyed the Lin family, and now you're here to destroy the Qin family. I'll beat you to death!" Qin Shiming's wife didn't hold back, punching Dalia repeatedly, her grip on Dalia's hair unyielding.

"Ah!!" Dalia screamed in pain, trying to fight back, but her hair was being yanked so fiercely it felt like her scalp was being torn off.

The old madam finally reacted and quickly ordered the servants to separate the two.

Qin Shiming's wife was beyond furious and didn't show any mercy.

After the two were separated, Dalia's face was swollen, her hair was a mess, and there was a trace of blood at the corner of her mouth. She looked utterly wretched.

Qin Shiming's wife, tears streaming down her face, wailed, "Mom, are you going to let our whole family be buried because of these two? They're your daughter and granddaughter, but isn't Chong'er your grandson too? If you're so heartless, then I'll take the children and leave this house."

"They've already ruined the Lin family, and now they want to ruin the Qin family. I won't let Chong'er and the others lose everything. If you insist on keeping her here, I'll leave with the children right now."

"If they stay, we go. The Qin family will be theirs."

Faced with the relentless pressure from her son and daughter-in-law, the old madam seemed to age by a decade, her body trembling slightly.

Dalia looked at the old madam with pleading eyes. "Mom."

The old madam turned away, showing only the back of her head to the others. "I'm old and can't handle your affairs anymore. Do what you must."

The old madam, supported by her caretaker, slowly made her way upstairs, no longer concerned with the chaos behind her.

Seeing that her mother was no longer on her side, Dalia cried out miserably, "Mom, are you abandoning me too? Are you kicking me out as well? Is there no place for me in this house?"

Listening to Dalia's anguished cries, the old madam's heart felt like it was being torn apart. But the Qin family had more than just one member; there were her sons and the Qin family's legacy to consider. Although she loved her daughter dearly, she couldn't allow the entire Qin family to pay for her mistakes.

Though it pained her deeply, she ultimately chose to let go of Dalia, the daughter she had cherished for decades.

Chapter 200: Chapter 200

Dalia's knees buckled as she saw that her mother remained unmoved. Her face turned ashen, and she called out desolately to the retreating figure of the old lady, "Mom, are you really this heartless? If I hadn't endured all these years at the Lin family, the Qin family would have long been gone. Are you all just going to deny everything I've done for this family?"

"Why are you all so heartless?!" Dalia screamed in despair, but the Qin family remained unmoved, their anger only deepening.

Madam Qin commanded Zhao the butler, "What are you all standing around for? Take Miss Dalia out."

Zhao sighed inwardly and waved over two maids. The maids approached and forcibly dragged Dalia out.

Standing at the threshold of the Qin family's residence, Dalia looked at the familiar surroundings, knowing that this place was no longer her home.

At that moment, rain began to fall. The maids tossed her luggage outside, leaving it open and causing her clothes to scatter on the ground.

The maids hesitated, considering whether to help, but ultimately turned and ran back into the villa.

In the rain, Dalia slowly picked up each piece of clothing, stuffing them back into her suitcase, her eyes filled with cold hatred as she walked away.

At the police station, Dalia, now disheveled, sat in the visitor's area. Before long, Saira arrived. Seeing her mother, she rushed over immediately.

"Mom, please save me," Saira pleaded, her eyes red from crying.

As she spoke, Saira noticed the bruises and cuts on her mother's face. Shocked, she asked, "Mom, what happened to you? Who hurt you?"

Hearing the concern in her daughter's voice, Dalia felt warmth in her heart, but her nose tingled with emotion. In this world, her daughter was the only person she could truly rely on, the only one who genuinely cared for her.

"Don't worry, it's nothing. I just fell on my way here," Dalia replied.

Saira didn't doubt her. "We'll take care of those wounds as soon as we get home."

Hearing her daughter's words, Dalia almost couldn't hold back her tears.

"Mom, you have to get Uncle to help me. I don't want to die. I don't want to stay here another minute," Saira begged.

"Don't worry, Mom won't let anything happen to you," Dalia assured her, gripping her daughter's hand. "Just stay here for a few days. I'll find a way."

With her mother's promise, Saira finally felt some relief.

Dalia left the police station, aimlessly wandering outside. She thought of going to Aaron, but realizing that even the Qin family wouldn't help them, she knew Aaron, a selfish man, wouldn't either.

Was she really just going to watch her daughter waste away in prison?

Dalia found a secluded spot and took out her phone, dialing a mysterious number. The call went unanswered for a long time, but she kept trying until, just as her phone was about to die, the person on the other end finally picked up.

"What do you want?" The voice was impatient.

"I need you to do something for me."

"You're ordering me?" The voice on the other end grew hostile.

"It's not an order, but a deal. I took a risk to help you get rid of Zuri. Why would I do that without some benefit?" Dalia tried to sound tough, though inside, she was trembling.

"The wealth and status your family and daughter enjoy aren't enough? Being too greedy won't end well," the person threatened.

"The Qin family? You can destroy them if you want. I don't care about their fate. As for my daughter, if she loses everything after all these years of luxury, so be it," Dalia said coldly.

The person on the other end was taken aback, clearly surprised by her sudden decisiveness. A moment ago, she was fearful; now, she had completely changed.

"Are you sure?"

"What's there to be unsure about? I'm on the brink of death; why should I care about them?" Dalia laughed bitterly.

"What do you want in return?" the voice asked.

"My daughter's in police custody…" Dalia explained the situation. "Get her out, and send me some money. I've been kicked out by the Qin family, and I don't have the funds to continue helping you."

The person on the other end was silent for a moment. "Fine. Give me your account details."

After giving her account information, Dalia heard the person say, "If you fail, there's no need for you or your daughter to stick around."

Dalia shuddered. "I understand."

After hanging up, Dalia collapsed onto the ground.

She didn't know how long she stayed there until her phone buzzed. Seeing the amount that had been transferred to her account, she stared blankly.

In her eyes, the money wasn't just money; it was a death warrant.

Zuri… Why do you still exist in this world?

Dalia was filled with hate—hate for Jonah. If he hadn't let this curse live, none of this would have happened.

A day later, the Huang family dropped the charges, and Saira was released.

When Saira left the police station, Zuri immediately received the news.

"She's out?" Zuri was surprised.

Thunderbolt was equally surprised. "Yes. According to my sources, the Huang family withdrew their charges, decided not to pursue the matter, and even claimed they were wrong about Saira, completely absolving her."

If the victim's family says the accused isn't guilty and drops the case, the police have no reason to keep her.

And so, Saira walked free.

For the first time, Zuri had been thwarted; she had miscalculated.

The Huang family, who had just joined forces with other families to take down the Qin family, suddenly decided to let go. Something must have happened.

Something wasn't right.

"Investigate what's going on with the Huang family. Did someone else get involved?" Zuri ordered.

Zuri had her suspicions, and Thunderbolt knew it too.

"I'm already on it."

The Huang family's sudden change of heart was too suspicious to ignore.

"Thanks."

"No need to thank me," Thunderbolt replied, trying to mask his anxiety. He hadn't handled this task well, and he was nervous.

Meanwhile, Dalia took Saira to the hotel where they were temporarily staying. It was only then that Saira learned her mother had been kicked out of the Qin family.

"Mom, did they use this situation to make a deal with you?" Saira asked, feeling guilty.

Dalia shook her head and said with deep emotion, "Saira, I only have you now. Remember, in this world, you can't rely on anyone. Don't trust anyone too easily, understand?"

Seeing her mother's exhausted face, Saira felt a pang of sorrow and quietly embraced her.

If it wasn't the Qin family, then who could have had such influence?

Saira quickly thought of that mysterious figure.

Hearing her mother's words, as if they were her final instructions, Saira was gripped by fear. "Mom, I can help you deal with Zuri. Please, don't do anything foolish."
