Chapter 139: VIII: The tale of broken men

Atop a flattened mountain, a small forest thrived.

In the middle of that forest, was a spring of pure water.

Inside that spring, was a man who had hoped that the tranquility of his surroundings and the spiritual power of the place would aid his troubled mind.

Lately, he had been experiencing strange dreams, dreams of a world he had thought to have forgotten many, many years ago. He hardly remembered or even thought of those times, because it reminded him of the great miseries that followed.

So why was he dreaming of those times now? In his dreams, he had vividly seen every event, as if he was there again. But last night had been strange. He had been speaking to a woman that did not act as he recalled. The images he had seen had stirred something inside him, some forgotten feeling that things were not as they supposed to be, that he had forgotten something important. This was why he came to this pool.
