The chair swung back and forth, with each swing a crack sounding through.
The figure in the chair stared outside his window, where only darkness could be seen, and whispered softly: ‘There was once a ravenous creature that stood powerful, dominating all and immortal for as long as it stayed inside its prison. The cold and silent walls of the prison reached as far as the eye could see, icy cold to the touch and impossible to climb.
‘One day the creature saw his prison crumble, making it possible to escape. However, it remained inside.’
Then the figure turned and stared across it with unmoving eyes. ‘Why is that?’
