Chapter 1: The Beginning

PART 1: HISTORY

In a world far away from mother Earth, there was another Earth. This Earth was in a parallel universe so people living on them did not know about each other's existence.

The people living on these Earths might have the same appearance but they were different. On one of them, people had powers — Elemental Powers: Fire, Water, Earth, Lightning and Wind. This was the reason why this earth was known as Elemental Earth with Elemental Beings living there. The other Earth was called Human Earth.

It was believed that Elemental beings also came from the same place, which was the Human Earth, but as a few of them had powers, others became weaker than them. The world was under the storms of chaos, mighty were ruling Human Earth and the weaker were struggling for food and water.

But, then, a strong and wise man came and decided to help everyone. He had strange powers which were out of understanding even for the strongest Elemental Beings. This man was also the strongest of them all. He decided to separate the Elemental Beings from Humans. He created a portal and all the Elemental beings were migrated to another Earth in the Parallel universe. This Earth was later known as Elemental Earth.

He altered everyone's memories on both of the Earths, so no one ever could be sure how this happened. The only proof left were the notes and books written by the people before losing their memories. But most of them were burnt to maintain secrecy. Only a few people today knew this story.

It was said that the wise man lost his powers after altering memories of everyone. A huge task like that took a toll on his body. He was never seen again. But with the Law and Order, he had created, both the Earths were living their lives at peace.

But quarrels and wars were a part of human nature. A time came when that peace was lost and wars took place. When Human Beings and Elemental Beings were separated from each other, humans fought against other humans and Elemental Beings fought against other Elemental Beings. Almost like any other civilisation, this cycle of peace and war continued amongst these people for thousands of years.

PART 2: PROLOGUE

On a no moon night, the sky was filled with dark storm clouds. Under this sky was a valley. And at the bank of the river, there was a house. It was worn out and broken from many spots. The condition was as if a serious earthquake had hit that place.

There was rubble from the broken ceiling on the floor of that house. A young man in his early twenties, named Drake Owens, walked through that rubble carefully, managing not to trip. He was a new Master — One of the seven who pledged to protect peace.

Master Owens reached a stairwell and climbed. The first floor was almost blown up. There was no ceiling, and more than half of the walls were gone. Master Owens walked into a room. An old man, appearing to be 70, was talking there with a woman. She seemed to be in her thirties.

"Sorry I kept you waiting, Master Ellendun," said Master Owens bowing down.

"It's not a problem, Drake," said Master Ellendun. Master Owens raised himself. The lady standing in the room had the same blue cloak on her shoulders. Master Owens bowed towards her and said, "Master Kirason."

"Get rid of the formalities, Drake," said Master Kirason. "I presume you know the reason for this destruction, don't you?"

Master Owens's face turned sad.

Master Ellendun walked towards the window in his long robes under his blue cloak. He said, "There is no need to be sad. We have to control our emotions as the world is still moving ahead and will never stop. We have to keep planning ahead."

Master Kirason could not control her thoughts and asked, "Who's the next Hope?"

"Things are not clear, Kary," said Master Ellendun. "I see five, and three of them are humans."

"What?" asked Master Kirason, shockingly. "How are we supposed to protect them?"

"We will manage something when the time comes," said Master Ellendun. "For the time being, just keep an eye on them, Drake. This will be your very first mission."

"Leave it to me, Master Ellendun," said Master Owens, bowing forward a little.

"Kary, your next mission is to protect the Elemental Academy, you are the Principal from now on," said Master Ellendun.

"I'm honoured," said Master Kirason, bowing down too.

"Now, go!" said Master Ellendun. "The war will be coming any day now."

In the next moment, Master Owens was surrounded by fire and Master Kirason was surrounded by lightning, they both disappeared where they stood. The fire and lightning vanished after them. Master Ellendun stood there alone with a sad face. He stared at the sky, fiddling with his beard, he said to himself,

"This will be the last time."

PART 3: 17 YEARS LATER

The night was silently passing in a neighbourhood in Manhattan. The full moon was shining bright, stretching shadows of two mysterious figures walking in the middle of a street. One was Master Owens in his blue cloak. He was older now, he was near his forties. The other shadow was of Katie Brown, a 17-year-old girl who had been traveling with him. It had not been many days since she was informed about her powers.

"How far is it, Master?" asked Katie.

"Not too far now," said Master Owens.

Inside one of those houses of that neighbourhood, Raymond Mark was angrily pounding the floor. He was looking at his family's picture clicked on his 17th birthday. He missed those days. It took a lot of courage for him to come back to his house again. But he regretted it already.

"Why?" he yelled angrily, punching the floor. A set of flames erupted from the point of impact and travelled towards the walls. The flames were increasing in volume with every inch they covered.

BOOM!

Katie and Master Owens who were walking outside the street saw the explosion. Raymond's house was destroyed. There were shattered glass pieces and rubble flying out of that explosion. The heat was enough to burn the skin of a human being.

"Master! Let's save him!" said Katie, she was terrified.

"No, Katie!" said Master Owens, "I'll save him, you just hide somewhere! Make sure no one sees you!"

"Okay!" she replied.

Master Owens entered Raymond's house through the blown off door. He ran through the rooms looking for Raymond. He found Raymond lying unconscious on the living room floor surrounded by rubble. Raymond's head was slightly bleeding. He might have bashed his head on something when he fell unconscious.

Master Owens raised his palm towards the burning walls and all the flames squeezed into his palms. In a few seconds, there was no fire left. Only the smoke could state that the place was burnt.

Master Owens moved towards Raymond. "Let's get you somewhere safe, kid," he said.

PART 4: ARRIVAL

The next time when Raymond opened his eyes he was in a hospital room. His head hurt a little from the bandaid placed there. He tried to get up, but his body seemed heavier. The door of that room opened, Katie walked in.

"Don't get up," she said in a hurry. She kept her fruit basket aside and helped Raymond's bed get to a sitting angle.

"Thanks," said Raymond, "who are you?"

"I am Katie Brown," Katie replied. Her eyes and hair were brown as her name. "I and Master Owens rescued you from your fire."

Raymond thanked her and they made a handshake as Raymond introduced himself. Katie rang a bell at the side of the door to let the doctors know they were needed.

"You were pretty great," said Katie, "you could create such a huge explosion without any training, all I could manage was bursting my study lamp."

"What are you talking about?" asked Raymond.

The door opened again, Master Owens entered the room. He was tall and fit. He had a blue cloak on him.

"Good morning, Raymond," said Master Owens. "My name is Drake Owens, you must call me Master Owens."

"Are you a teacher?" asked Raymond.

"More or less," said Master Owens.

"Can you say it clearly?" asked Raymond. "Katie said something about the fire at my house. She said it was my fault."

"Well, let's give it a shot if you wish so," said Master Owens. "You are not an ordinary human being, Raymond. You have powers, Elemental Powers."

Raymond's expression said clearly that his medication was having a side effect. He also seemed to think that he was hallucinating. But things were confirmed when Katie came near and showed Raymond her hand. It was normal, at first, then she made some tiny sparks of lightning come around it. Raymond shook his head. Then he saw Master Owens who made all of his fingers light with fire.

"These powers are true," said Master Owens, "yours is the same as mine, fire. Also, we are not here to do any harm to you. So, relax."

Raymond shook his head again. Everything seemed to be out of a fantasy novel. There was only one way to prove everything wrong and Katie seemed to have realised it, she came close and pinched Raymond's face. Raymond screeched. Katie smiled and said,

"It's not a dream, silly!"

"Take your time and relax, Raymond," said Master Owens, "have some fruits." Master Owens gave Raymond an apple. Raymond held it and focused on it. He did not know what he was doing. He just imagined flames coming out of his hand and immediately, the apple burned with flames. Raymond was so frightened, he threw it towards the window where it clashed with the flowers and the fire increased.

"Heh!" Katie yelled, "I brought those flowers for you!"

"I am sorry! I can't seem to accept these things," said Raymond.

"Calm down," Master Owens said, he got up and raised his arm towards the fire and all the fire disappeared into his palm. Raymond's eyes were still wide. Master Owens looked at him and smiled, he placed each of his hands on Raymond's and Katie's heads, he said,

"I am here to teach you everything."
